Business / Re: What Is Your Experience With Shoptomydoor by Charlesnerd: 8:58pm On Jun 29, 2015
I got several calls today from shoptomydoor trying to assist with the issues I raised earlier. They have been quite helpful I must admit .

Though all issues have not been sorted out,I am hopeful that based on the assurances given, it will be dispensed with in earnest.

I really hope they continue this way. I am a fair customer and would not hesitate to give a positive review when treated fairly.
Business / Re: What Is Your Experience With Shoptomydoor by Charlesnerd: 11:06am On Jun 28, 2015
Shoptomydoor seem to declare your items higher than you purchased them, in my case for almost twice the amount. I also noticed that it takes days for them to update their portal after receiving your items.

- I ordered for some items from ASDA worth £32.95 = approx. $52. Shoptomydoor overvalued my item by almost 100% at $100 and left me with shipping charges of $32 (custom inclusive). Order id: #64503
- I had another item form ASDA worth £40.95 = approx $64.48 and delivered to shoptomydoor since 24th June. Four (4) days after,my account is yet to be updated with the items. I am unsure what I will be charged for this too.

Hello I have a question..

According to easykobo.com , the book value of FBNH is about 15 naira. Is there anyone who understands why this stock should be trading below book value?

Book value is a company's valuation of itself based on the balance sheet information made available to the public. In contrast, market value is the investors valuation of the company based on his/her interpretation of the information made available to him.

If you are a prospective/existing FBNH shareholder and your company provides the following information to you;

-We intend to retain as much profits as possible because we plan to increase our tier 1 CAR from 15.3% to a much safer margin.
- Our loan portfolio comprises 30 -40 % oil and gas.

As an investor, faced with a double whammy of dwindling oil price and the prospect of receiving a lower dividend than you got last year, would it be ideal to value FBNH at N15? . If you decide to purchase the stock despite the perceived risk, you would definitely wish to put a cost to the risk, which gives rise to the differential between the book value and market value.

Interestingly, only the future can determine who made a better assessment between the company and the investor. So investors buying right now believe that risk aside, the company is absolutely right with its valuation of N15.

In any case, majority of banking stocks are trading well below their book value.FBNH is no exception.

Oga Agbalowomeri, I dnt think the ECB has officially announced this yet grin grin. I think the Swiss National Bank's action of abandoning their 3 year old currency peg of their currency (Swiss franc) against the Euro caused the market to start anticipating that a massive QE policy by Mario Draghi could be initiated come next week when the ECB meet.

I am unsure how this will prop up crude oil prices. I was under the impression that the reason why we saw an inflation in oil prices during the US QE period was because oil is priced in $$. The $$ keeps strengthening against the Euro and if the euro zone starts their quantitative easing, I would expect their currency to Weaken further against the $$. The Eurozone,no doubt will be awash with euros but as they convert this to $$ to speculate in the oil markets, wouldn't this increase the demand for the $$ thus making it stronger and in turn pushing down oil prices since it is priced in $$. Moreover the supply/demand mechanics in the oil markets is still not balanced (supply still outweighs demand),so any increase in price might just be temporary.

Well Na siddon look I dey as all this na just speculation. grin grin grin

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

In response to the bolded, ECB QE might have some considerable impact on the price of crude.
From all indications, it appears the sharp decline in the price of oil over the last few months has more to do with weak demand and politics than over supply.
The rest of Europe depends on russia for 30% of their energy needs, while the shortfall is filled by foreign supplies. If QE succeeds in stimulating the eurozone economy, demand for crude will increase and that should expectedly have an impact on price of crude.

Ehm do you all agree with this?

Well, its hard to deal with conjectures. Buhari hasn't stated in clear terms his position on the economy, other than his stance on curbing corruption.

From the snippets gathered so far,one can safely assume that he is in favor of a welfare state ,which is not a bad idea, but when added to the already over bloated recurrent expenditure, one wonders how they would be able to fund the capital projects that are much needed to catalyze economic growth.

For Nigeria to move forward economically, irrespective of who wins the election, there has to be a concerted effort to trim recurrent expenditure which is already close to 80% of anticipated government spending. This shows that the government exists for itself and not for the people - what an absurdity?. A way forward might be to make a passionate plea to the national assembly to shed a part of their allowances and drop the idea of allocating money to themselves for non-existent constituency projects ;I have not seen any real beneficiary of the so called constituency projects. The executive should also show willingness to reduce the cost of governance, prevent wastage, needless duplication, but most importantly, curb official corruption and leakage of government revenues.

If none of the above is done,it doesnt matter who wins,it will still be the same old story,if not worse.

I am tempted to agree with you because CKC has always looked much better aesthetically . In terms of passion and alumni participation, dengram has always had a strong alumni network ,but not much of that positive energy has been channeled towards rebuilding the school for several decades.
Politics / Re: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Charlesnerd: 2:07am On Jan 04, 2015
Honestly Dengram hasnt changed much.I am not advocating a wholesale change of the architecture - of course that is an integral part of her history.

But looking at the plan view, you can still see that the old "4 block" looks much the same, though with the roof missing this time. Even the adjoining extension still looks much unchanged and the teachers' quarters is still easily recognizable. I can spot all the coconut trees and it looks certaint that no new one has been planted for years. Even the red sands have not given way for something more befitting.

Much more can obviously be done...

@ kaboninc

You are at the political section of nairaland. Economic facts and figures have no material value here, so dont be discouraged when people peddle falsehood.

The CBN's decision to devalue the naira was a very sound economic decision, though hard.He actually had no choice, the naira was already devalued at the interbank and parallel market so it was simply a question of when the CBN was going to make the formal announcement.

I dont know if people are ignorant of happenings in the economy or simply being mischievous ? I think I'd go with the former.

The problem is that you are not conversant with the current happenings around you and in your country.Thats the more reason why you will pull up a diplomatic cable dated ten years ago (2005) as evidence in 2015.

Sorry for your being a bit ignorant ,but things have changed a whole lot since 2005. In fact, in Nigeria of 2015, Dangote is the biggest cement maufacturer in the whole of Nigeria and among the three largest cement companies in africa with plants in cameroon, nigeria, kenya, southafrica .

Dangote is the biggest producer of sugar in Nigeria, the nearest rival is Flour millls Nigeria ; they opened a sugar plant not too long ago.

Dangote is among the top exporters of gum arabic in Nigeria.

Dangote recently raised about $9b to build the biggest private refinery in Nigeria to be completed in 2019.

So tell me, which commodities does he import?

It would be nice if you can do a little bit of research before typing your next reply .

Are you kidding me?. Fuel subsidy stolen money is at least.2.5trillion, uncollected revenue from multinationals and big cimpanies is about 2 trillion , oil companies are cheating Nigeria to the tune of more than 5trillion every year. It is you that is unexposed. They have bought you and sold you finish. Do you know there are companies who invest $1bn into nigeria and make $1.5bn out of nigeria every year? anybody with half a brain knows when that happens there is something wrong with the tax code. Buhari will never allow it to be said that nigerians live on less than $2 a day. You pay N5000 to 2.5 million people, they buy more indomie, cement, cassava and stimulate local denand and boost GDP. The social security system is the best support for business owning rich men in any country. It is you who does not know your economics.
In any case Jonathan channelled 350bn to millitants every year for 4 years and he found the money

People bandy figures without evidence. Can you be specific on the company/companies that invested $1b and are reaping $1.5b p/a?. Whats exactly wrong with the tax code as presently constituted?.

I would like a pure economic answer and not hearsay or assumptions.

Babangida's largesse to Mrs Alakija of awarding her with an oil bloc despite her being a Fashion Designer to his wife has today turned her to be the richest Black Woman in the World today.

jonaTAN and PDP's economic monopolistic advantage in Commodity importation to Alhaji Dangote has today made him the Richest Black Man in the World.

Truly the Destiny of BAbangida and JonaTAN is to wreck and collapse the Economy.

Zenith m fbnh dem

FBNH is not even in a good state to give out bonuses. With 32Billion OS,which is about 2-3Billion higher than the closest bank on the NSE, add that to their declining bottom line and get the real picture. The silver lining is that top line has seen improvement in 2014,if they are able to improve on their efficiency and convert much of that to profit going forward, then they can be truly back on track.
