PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Online Election 2012 - Nomination in progress by Charlesnerd: 7:25pm On Oct 17, 2012
PointB: Yes you did. Unfortunately Afam's nomination of Andrew Uweh did not count. Those directly involved in the process might have to sacrifice their right to nominate to avoid conflict of interest.
Ok.That was a good decision by the electoral team.
PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Online Election 2012 - Nomination in progress by Charlesnerd: 7:20pm On Oct 17, 2012

9ja_I_hail: Our stands simply means that you cannot reject us in times of difficulty and turn back to celebrate with us when things are rosy.
Then how can you convince me that you (the electoral team) are different from the proponents of the Osu caste system if you disenfranchise a brother/sister because his/her views does not align with conventional views?.I think you guys should review that part of the constitution to be more explicit and inclusive.
PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Online Election 2012 - Nomination in progress by Charlesnerd: 6:59pm On Oct 17, 2012
9ja_I_hail: Yes your suggestion is reasonable and i must assure you that it has been noted as well. The election commission are working towards that due time factor if we are unable to carry the lolo thing along this year hopefully next year it will be fully carry along. Meanwhile i will like you to have a look on the respond our Honorable commissioner PointB had given to our beloved sister who was first to raise the issue.

Ok thanks.I didnt see that earlier.

9ja_I_hail: According to section (A) no 3 of the nomination rules, you are disqualified as well as others who are not Igbo'S but guilty of the same crime grin grin, anyway your case was not specifically mention on the (No3) but on my point of view as a full blood igbo son you are guilty as non Igbo's who are guilty of the law. This is just my opinion, hopefully my fellow tribunals take stand. While you wait to hear from other tribunals you can take your time and review the Section (A, of No3)Such forumer has not directly or indirectly
through his actions (posts) denigrate or
caused the denigration of any or other Igbo
group/sub group, state, cultural institutions or heroes.
So are you effectively saying that a full blooded Igbo man can be disenfranchised because he has a different ideology from the norm?.That would be unfair and subjective in my opinion.
PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Online Election 2012 - Nomination in progress by Charlesnerd: 6:44pm On Oct 17, 2012
An Eze should have a lolo. Its fair that we should provide equal opportunity for everyone, irrespective of sex. That would encourage other Igbo ladies on the romance board and raise their political consciousness.

If an Igbo man who does not align with popular views and conventional Igbo ideology nominates a candidate, would his /her nomination stand?. Please, can you provide more details on the highlighted.

I think Onlytruth should be returned unopposed, this does not means hes the best Igbos on nairaland would ever produce, but owing to his visibility and method of advocacy,I think he fits the bill.

Meanwhile, dayokanu and Bluetooth should be appointed as roving cultural ambassadors of the Igbo nation.. grin grin grin

berem: did they force him to give them tips? Did they point a gun at him to beg him? I mean this happens all the time in airports, banks, ministries, hospitals etc.so how is it an embarrasment? Its a nigerian tradition that cannot be wiped out now or in the nearest future.so he better starts getting used to it!
Interesting @ the bolded.i guess kidnapping and looting is also a nigerian tradition that cannot be wiped out now or in the nearest future?.Dont rationalize something wrong to the extent that it looks right. You are aware as much as I do that if you dont offer tips to public officers, expect delays because you no "settle",and that is the culture/tradition of unprofessionalism you expect people to get used to?.

PoliticsRe: Onaiyekan, Sultan Nominated For 2012 Nobel Peace Prize by Charlesnerd: 8:40pm On Oct 06, 2012
I repeat, without prejudice, the Sultan has not done much to quell the boko haram menace. If Shehu Sani can do it,the Sultan given his capacity, both official, past and present should be able to do much better.

I wish the Nobel committee can give the award to them ,they would be in the public eye, locally and internationally.Who knows this might spur them to work much harder in resolving the bokoharam menace.
PoliticsRe: Onaiyekan, Sultan Nominated For 2012 Nobel Peace Prize by Charlesnerd: 2:00pm On Oct 06, 2012
If the award is being given to the sultan and Onaiyekan in anticipation that they would be more visible and outspoken in the fight against bokoharam,I would say its a good move.

Otherwise,I don't feel the sultan has done so much to quell the monster called bokoharam, either he's a silent sympathiser,or he's afraid of speaking out.
PoliticsRe: Arik Air’s Constant Megalomanism =a Statement From The Passengers On Flight 706. by Charlesnerd: 12:28pm On Oct 04, 2012
This is a very sad story,I wish Arik had a strong competitor, they would know how to treat their customers better.Unfortunately, most of the airlines available are even much worse than Arik, when it comes to customer service and Air worthiness. My brother had a similar experience over the out-gone weekend, this time with Aero,he booked a flight for 10am on saturday, only to be informed a day before departure, that the flight has been re-scheduled for 4pm same day (saturday),he arrived the airport as early as 3pm,but the flight did not start boarding until 6pm,after boarding, they had to wait inside the plane for additional 1hr only to be told by 7pm that the flight would not be able to take off and has been cancelled, what a waste of precious time!!,the infuriated passengers simply barricaded the Aero counter and hounded their staff until they agreed to refund, which they dutifully did.

Travelling in Nigeria has become a nightmarish venture, with tales of cancelled and risk laden flights, road accidents and armed robbery.I wish we had a reliable and efficient rail system, presently its either Arik,Aero or you go by bus.

I wish your write up would get the publicity it deserves, you dont treat customers with such impudence and expect to have a pat on the back.
PoliticsRe: Comprehensive History Of The Disputed Anambra Oil Basin by Charlesnerd: 2:57am On Oct 03, 2012
This historical account by Eze Idigo has once again brought to the fore the role of traditional institutions in a democracy;they are custodians of history and culture ,which though unwritten, can be transferred from one generation to another.

His account is too logical to be concocted, and any one who would have to disprove this would have a hard time doing so,as this case had already been settled by a court of competent jurisdiction, even before the advent of Orient refinery.

Long Live Eze Idigo, you have once again restored my faith in traditional institutions and justified why they should be given a constitutional role, however your case is not helped by some politicians in traditional rulers garb who know next to nothing about the traditional and cultural values they are meant to nurture and protect.
PoliticsRe: Otedola Pays AMCON Debt.. by Charlesnerd: 7:24am On Oct 02, 2012
KINGwax: what are u saying? Who said life is fair? So many huge debts were, is and will be written off when an agreed amount is paid in order to curtail complete loses. Most case, the interests will either be recalculated or erased. So what are u sayin?
What am saying is that the debt must have been highly undervalued for Otedola to be able to pay off in one single instant or it must have been totally written off due to his presidential connection.

AMCON on the other hand is a public institution and should be seen to be transperent. The missing money which caused the bank crisis was public money (shareholders and depositors funds),the cash that was injected into the ailing banks was public cash too,our commonwealth to be precise. So why would an public institution sign a confidentiality agreement with a chronic debtor who ran the banks and economy down?my brother wake up and think!.When dangote repayed his loans to a syndicate of nigerian banks, did he not make it public?think again!,if Otedola has settled his debts fairly,I bet he would be the first to go to press relishing the details of the settlement just like Dangote did.To be fair to Otedola,I don't think he has the capacity to repay that debt, even if all his assets were to be sold off.Moreso,no Nigerian business man would repay such debt, instead he would channel the little money he has into a new line of business.

Like Texazzpette has rightly said, confidentiality agreement is usually between two private entities and not between a public and private entity, and don't tell me disclosing the information would be a security risk, which its clearly not.
PoliticsRe: Otedola Pays AMCON Debt.. by Charlesnerd: 12:21am On Oct 02, 2012
Otedola repaying that huge amount of money either in cash or assets is a highly unlikely scenario,I feel the debt was written off due to his connection to the presidency and some top government officials who might have benefited from him.

AMCON has failed the first test of transperency,it is a public institution and the money in question belongs to the public ( depositors and shareholders of the banks Otedola and co ran down),so it behoves on AMCON to make public the assets which was forfeited by Otedola.

The freedom of Information act should be invoked to expose the shady deal behind this settlement.
PoliticsRe: Okupe Sues Benue Over Alleged Contract Scam by Charlesnerd: 10:32am On Sep 08, 2012
berem: Festus keyamo don fall my hand! How could he be the lawyer representing this thief? Kai!
In the legal world, there is a huge gulf between legality and morality, while it is legally right for Keyamo to defend anyone, from the perspective of the public,we feel that only a mercenary without conscience would go ahead to defend a man like Okupe,we all know an icon like Gani (RIP) would never take up such case, cos he would not like to go against public opinion and sentiments.

In a nutshell,Keyamo is legally right, but is he morally right?.I can't say,cos the court of public might have proclaimed Okupe guilty, either by virtue of group effect (the PDP factor) or by participation.
PoliticsRe: Nnaji's Exit Is Affecting Power Supply. by Charlesnerd: 2:24pm On Sep 04, 2012
No matter how you look at it,the sack or resignation of a highly productive boss would lead to a drop in employee output, especially in the public sector where people have no targets and monthly expectations, they know that whether there is power or not, they would still collect their monthly remuneration and even get promoted while the country is in darkness.

in a typical instance, some staff in rural water board were collecting salaries and getting promoted while the board has not provided a litre of water to the communities since 1988.It can only happen in Nigeria.

All things bright and beautiful,Nigeria paints them black.I wish Nnaji all the best his future endeavors.

PoliticsRe: Kogi Claims Ownership Of Anambra's Oil Wells by Charlesnerd: 8:32am On Sep 01, 2012
ADint: Hmmm... This could be quite more complex than it looks. Agreed the 2 oil blocks, OPL 915 & 916, straddle a few states but with majority in Anambra. Now the next question is, where exactly within these oil blocks do these oil reservoirs lie? You may drill an oil well in the Anambra side of the oil blocks but the reservoir(s) you are tapping from may actually be predominately in Kogi, Enugu or Edo State and vice versa!!

A good example is lake Chad which is within the territories of Nigeria, Cameroun, Chad and Niger. Approximately 20-25% of lake Chad is in Nigerian territory, but I can sit in the Nigerian section and put a pump into the lake and drain out all the water and claim I got it from my own side! This is obviously because being a liquid virtually all the water in the lake, including those in other countries, would flow towards the Nigerian side as am pumping water out through the Nigerian side and thus give me access to the whole water in Lake Chad! The same scenario plays out with underground oil reservoirs and by their nature being deep underground the exact and precise geographical layout could be difficult to determine within the oil block itself except for where the oil rig or well head is situated.

Another factor could be that the licensee, explorer and producer of these oil blocks, Orient, is owned by Anambra state and its indigenes who are also big stakeholders in the crude oil itself. Its similar to the River state govt owning Shell who are the major oil producing company in the Niger Delta. The only logical solution would be proper, diligent and independent seismic, geographical and other scientific evaluation examination to determine which states/communities these oil/gas reservoirs lie within these 2 blocks and to what extent.

I do highly commend Orient and Anambra state for the bold initiatives and steps they took that led to this discovery and ultimately as the licensee/operator/producer of these oil blocks would still benefit very lucratively same way shell, Chevron are reaping rewards from such actions. Additionally Anambra state would still also benefit from 13% derivation from whatever production is determined to have come from its land.
The reservoir is about 2,158 square km which falls into edo, kogi and enugu. But the actual drilling activity is in Anambra.I don't think Orient has any active drilling facility in either of these states. So its a tricky situation we have here which I feel could be a novel case in the history of Nigeria.
