A new shocking report about the unfortunate men who had their last breath, 24-72 hours after drinking suspected toxic locally brewed gin, popularly known as Kai Kai/Ogogoro at a dog meat joint have emerged.Proprietor of dog meat joint, Mr. Friday Dickson, is purported to have laced the delicacy with killer- seasoning, although he hotly denied the allegation. He spoke to Niger Delta Voice at the Woji Police Divisional Headquarters, where he is under custody.
Irate youths razed his restaurant, but Dickson, who has been in the business for over a decade, recalled that a man called Chikobi and Chiefo brought the local gin to his restaurant that Sunday allegedly to celebrate his new chieftaincy title. Curiously, the celebrant did not drink the gin he brought. The wife of one of the victims corroborated Dickson’s story. The mysterious Chikobi, said to be a Yoruba man from Ogun state, is on the run after the episode but Dickson said he could recognize him if he sees him. There is also a puzzle on how the killer-gin got to Bonny and Gokhana local governments. Chikobi came to Woji but there is no information on who took the gin to aforementioned two local governments.
Except he left Woji for the Bonny and Gokhana after the “celebration of death” or they were other merchants of death. Investigation by Niger Delta Voice revealed that many of the victims expired wrestling with death, vomiting and complaining of abdominal pain. Some lost their vision, cried of chest and waist pains.
One of the victims, Mr. Jerry, passed away inside a tricycle that was conveying him home. The poison apparently reacted at the point, as he started struggling with unseen forces at the back seat of the Keke NAPEP. The panic-stricken tricycle driver took to his heels.

The death of Engr Joseph Akpan is more pathetic. He left a Church service on the ill-fated Sunday against the counsel of his wife and a church member to partake in the drink at the dog meat joint. Moreover, after the drinking spree, he refused to confess to his apprehensive wife, a nurse, for possible medical assistance.
His bereaved wife, Mrs. Pauline Apkan said,
“On Monday, I was called that a man is dying within Mini-Woji and that the person drank kai kai. When I got there, I told the people to take him to the hospital that I cannot handle such case and my husband was having pity for the man the way he was shouting and rolling on the floor. Later the man died.
“I remembered that on Sunday, somebody called my husband while we were in the church and he left me in the church to honour the call. A man close to him in the church asked him to wait until after service then he can go and answer the call, but he refused. Maybe they told him they want to start.
“Earlier on Friday, he told me that there is a man they gave chieftaincy title in his community and he is coming to that restaurant to celebrate it. I told him that he should not go that I do not like him going to that restaurant often, but he started shouting at me, that is it because he told me? I said the man may poison him, he said do I think the man will bring poison to all the people there,” Mrs. Akpan asserted.
Her words: “So when the issue of that his friend, Fabian, that just died and other three people came up and all relating to the people that went to the bar, I asked him to tell me the truth if he went to that bar to drink, but he denied and said he only went there to charge his phone.”
She continued, “Later, one man came and told me to look for an antidote for my husband that he met my husband drinking at that restaurant on Sunday. On Tuesday morning, he woke up saying that he cannot see again. I said but it is daybreak, he continued shouting that he cannot see.
“Soon, he said his waist and chest. That his chest is very hot I called my pastor he said I should pray for him. He started rolling and groaning, then he died in my hands. “The poison is not from the dog meat, it is that kai kai they drank.

Some people who came here said people who bought only dog meat are not dying that it is only those who drank the kai kai,” she added.
Owner of the dog meat restaurant, Mr. Dickson, told Niger Delta Voice: “I have been in this community doing this job and I did not kill anybody. That Sunday, I was inside my restaurant busy with other things I do not know what happened outside. “I only heard that one man that use to come to my restaurant, he is from Yoruba, brought kai kai for all the people there to drink. Me I do not know anything about it.”
Asked if he used other special condiments in preparing penultimate Sunday‘s delicacy, Dickson said, “I used all the ingredients that I have been using since my 10 years in Woji. I do not know the man who brought the drink. But I think they use to call him Chikobi and Chiefo, if I see him, I can recognise him but I do not know where he lives.”

The last-minute deal between the PDP and Saraki was sealed at the residence of former Senate President David Mark in Abuja. At the meeting which held Sunday night were PDP Senators and governors. The meeting lasted till the wee hours of Monday. The session was tense on who to support for the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives.

A top source said: “At the end of the day, we could not agree on bloc votes for any of the candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives. In fact, Governor Ayodele Fayose pleaded with party leaders to see the battles as one between PDP and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He begged the party to ‘clip’ Tinubu’s wings.

“But some senators-elect warned Fayose against going personal. They queried the mor*lity behind PDP supporting candidates who defected from the party to APC. They alleged that their defection led to the defeat of PDP at the Centre.

“The governors also split on who to back for the National a$$embly offices. At the end of the day, we could not reach a consensus on casting our votes en bloc for any of the candidates for the leadership of the National a$$embly. I can tell you that everyone was on his own.”
Notwithstanding, the PDP senators later opted to vote on Monday night on who to back in the Senate. In the wee hours of yesterday, 28 opted for Saraki/Ekweremadu ticket and 17 consented to Ahmed Lawan/George Akume ticket. The same voting strength was taken to the inaugural session of the Eighth Senate.

A source added: “We were at a crossroads on whether to forgive Saraki for defecting to the APC or paying back the APC in its own coins for making Aminu Tambuwal, the Speaker of the Seventh Senate, to defect in defiance of the PDP directive. We basically went for vengeance because all is fair in politics.

“Our a$$umption is that were it not for mismanagement of PDP crisis, the likes of Saraki are PDP in spirit and APC by circumstance. When there is realignment of forces, we believe we can still work together.”
But findings confirmed that the choice of Saraki was with a cost. The new President of the Senate was ‘forced’ to sacrifice his favourite for the Office of the Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ali Ndume, who was the arrowhead of Saraki’s campaign in the North. Although Ndume got a wind of the plot on Monday evening, he dismissed it as “distracting and impossible for Saraki to dump him.”

Another source added: “Till the last minutes, they sold a dummy to Ndume that he will be Deputy Senate President of the Senate if Saraki gets the ticket.

“But as soon as Saraki won, Ekweremadu was nominated for delivering bloc votes of the Senators-elect from the Southeast in collaboration with Senator Andy Uba.”

Ozar secondary school, Asa in Ukwa West LGA of Abia State is scene to a chaotic episode when a student who was sent home by a teacher Mrs Njoku to barb her hair,regrouped with her mother and elder siblings to attack teachers and students who were having their studies.

The JSS two student, Precious Nwadike who looks like an overfed spoilt brat had earlier been warned by same teacher two weeks ago to barb her hair but she did not heed to the warning. On arrival to school on Monday, the student was asked to go home and barb her hair, she left immediately only to return two hours later with the mother and four of her siblings who marched straight to the staff room while also commanding the teachers to come out.

Furthermore, the mother of the student,Mrs Nwadike held a teacher,pulled her cloth ordered the sons to cut her hair.The intervention of another teacher, Mrs Osuagwu provoked the sons and one of them,Uche knotted and almost strangled her.But the quick intervention of students, led to a free for all fight as Mrs Nwadike and children were fully prepared.

A youth corp’s member serving in the school who pleaded anonymity had to alert the military personnel. Their quick arrival at school calmed the situation and doused the tension. As at the time of filing in d report, Mrs Nwadike and children are now cooling off at Obehie police station,Asa.The Principal of the school Mrs F.N Nwachukwu, as well took the wounded students and teachers to obehie Health Center for treatment.

A 32-year-old housewife, Nancy (surname withheld) in Okpanam Community, near Asaba Delta State, has allegedly stabbed herself to death following the failure of the husband to fulfill his conjugal responsibility at the weekend.

Leadership reliably gathered that the woman, an evangelist with a prominent church in the area, had complained bitterly to her relations about her husband’s “weakness” during sexual intercourse, threatening that she cannot stand it anymore.

But insiders said that she got married to the man, a highly placed mechanical engineer (name withheld) without premarital sex, and is said to have grumbled after the situation confronted her.

Trouble started last Saturday night after the husband reportedly failed to perform again; and she allegedly took the decision to kill herself by stabbing herself in the stomach.

Police officers at the Okpanam Police Division, who confirmed the incident but did not want their names in the print, said they saw her lifeless body in her room after the husband had gone to work.No arrest had yet been made at the time of filing this report as investigation was ongoing
