Christianity EtcRe: I Dont Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist by charmingeyes(m): 4:50am On Mar 19, 2015
davien:
No,a large number of atheists aren't rationalists...And those that are, don't have to "believe in" anything....you're merely equivocating(exchanging the words) "believe in" instead of "accept" to conjure a resonance of faith...

This is already a fallacy in itself....

Starting by equivocating words to imply faith....you then moved forward to attach your misunderstanding of a scientific theory....

Let us see where this leads to.

In the very same context you're using....it could be said that atheist(more specifcly, the rationalists) also "believe in"(the appropriate term is accept) Newtonian physics....does that magically turn gravity into a belief?

Even so,your dishonest presupposition(pre-concluded assumption) falls apart when you've already said "most atheists"....so you're also generalizing your observation based on a selected group.

Lets proceed.

Tell me what you mean here...because I need you to define your terms here....

And I also question the basis for calling the earth "designed"....what is the determinant of a designed earth?....can you provide or tell me how an undesigned earth would look like...so as to know?

And the reality we share doesn't remotely favour common sense.

Our intuition would tell us that between an egg and a boulder, dropped at the same time and from the same height....that the boulder should hit the ground first(because it's heavier)....but reality differs....

They both hit the ground at the same time(in fact, this is a standard test in physics to demonstrate that our intuitions doesn't matter to any event at play....until demonstrated)

And we've actually witnessed firsthand' the birth of planets and stars from chaotic supernovae...what would you call that?

I doubt any rationalists would say "randomness", but I see perfectly what you're doing...

You're trying to misrepresent the secular position of existence to somehow give your belief a more sane appearance....

The rebuttal I have for this pathetic dishonest misrepresentation is this....

Nature is probabilistic...not entirely random and not entirely ordered, and neither is it neutral(this may shock you ofcourse).....

Lets observe the cell wall....more specificly the semi-permeable membrane....it is a phospholipid bilayer of naturally occuring compounds.

On exposure to water,it's properties(which are determined by the head group and it's chains) form the bilayer by extending its hydrophobic(water dreading) layer in and it's hydrophilic(water loving) layer out...forming the "bilayer" in the process, that keeps the membrane from being permeated by everything(hence the term "semi-permeable"wink

Note that this function operates due to contrasting features that do not go together(i.e the hydrophobic effect)....but because of probabilistic qualities it encounters...it serves as a building block of cells...literally the walls.

I doubt you know the "law" you're talking about, may we know what this law is called and it's full implications....Is it thermodynamics?

Because if it is,you should have known that "order" and "disorder" in thermodynamics are referred to as "entropy" and entropy actually has values(I.e J/k )...and the total entropy of a system is determined by the work(useful energy)....

And since energy isn't created or destroyed(1st law) ....work gets rearranged into different forms(2nd law)....ofwhich one of those forms is matter.... (2nd law)

This is the hypocrisy of it all, after equivocating and misrepresenting everything you can....you then thank those who subscribe to the same faith you do...for support...

Good job, by this rate the well knowledgeable would depart from your religion after witnessing the extents used to retain the belief. smiley

Gosh so tired, it takes much work to expose a lie than to tell it...And I believe I've exposed you quite well...

Anyone willing to know any of this should either go to a noteable school of thought, library , google, etc lol grin

Christianity EtcRe: Why Believers Should Speak In Tongues by charmingeyes(m): 11:50pm On Aug 25, 2013
striktlymi: Good evening again Bidam,

I want to believe that you are sincere in your resolve to following the word of God. It is in this light, I make the following comments:

The passage of sacred scriptures you quoted:

Acts 2:4

"4 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak."

did not explicitly say that every believer would receive the gift of tongues as suggested by your post. That part of sacred scriptures only revealed what happened to the apostles at Pentecost.

However, sacred scriptures was very explicit when it affirms that the spirit gives various gifts which should be used for the good of all:

1Corinthians12:4-7

"4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them. 5 There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served. 6 There are different abilities to perform service, but the same God gives ability to all for their particular service. 7 The Spirit's presence is shown in some way in each person for the good of all."

It is also very clear in sacred scriptures that not everyone is given the gift of speaking in tongues:

1Corinthians 12:10-11

"10 The Spirit gives one person the power to work miracles; to another, the gift of speaking God's message; and to yet another, the ability to tell the difference between gifts that come from the Spirit and those that do not. To one person he gives the ability to speak in strange tongues, and to another he gives the ability to explain what is said. 11 But it is one and the same Spirit who does all this; as he wishes, he gives a different gift to each person."

Paul also went ahead to say:

1Corinthians14:23-24

"23 If, then, the whole church meets together and everyone starts speaking in strange tongues—and if some ordinary people or unbelievers come in, won't they say that you are all crazy? 24 But if everyone is proclaiming God's message when some unbelievers or ordinary people come in, they will be convinced of their sin by what they hear. They will be judged by all they hear,"

Hence though the gift of the spirit includes speaking in tongues but it is not compulsory that everyone should have it, and not having it does not imply that the individual does not have the spirit of God.

Your quote:
Acts2:39

"39 For God's promise was made to you and your children, and to all who are far away—all whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”

really does not support your claim that every believer should speak in tongues. The comment was made by Peter when he spoke to the people about Jesus being the messiah. That he came to the world and died for us and that he has risen as he said he would. I don't see how this passage supports your claim.

I really do not post in order for you to acccept my opinion but if you say you believe sacred scriptures then read through scriptures very well and make your decision.

Thank you!
my wish for u all is that u worship Christ in truth and in spirit, not to continue in arguments to which there may be no end.
Thank u.

Christianity EtcRe: Is Kissing And Hugging Sinful In Christian Courtship? by charmingeyes(m): 11:48pm On Jul 08, 2013
woodcook: So many people are going to call for my head by the time they finish reading this.

Well I am a christian but a rational one. I am sure in the days of the old when the Bible was given to men, things are quite different and I could supposed that based on evidence people then actually marry on time(I am sure some people will point out those that never got married and those that married late. Which does not in anyway becloud the fact that majority of them got married at an early age). But let me stray a little away from the bible, I really don't know the sin that there is when biologically your body starts acting up based on hormones. These hormones am sure you never asked for it, you get to an age when your body realizes it is time to put these "instrument" to use, biologically that is your body speaking. But due to the present situation of things on ground most people don't get married until like 10 to 15 years into puberty. How on earth do you expect them to continue defying their biological makeup? At this point I would supposed that's why my Muslim brothers up North have to either marry for their son at an early age of 18/19 to prevent them from getting themselves involve into ugly circumstance as mentioned let alone asking the question which the op asked. But then if you can't afford to get married and given the situation on ground which is not your own making, I think what is wrong is stopping nature to take its course. huh huh
i think some ppl are Christians by mouth.
My dear, come out of canal radical religousness and embrace Christ, living a spirit-filled life. Thanks.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Kissing And Hugging Sinful In Christian Courtship? by charmingeyes(m): 11:39pm On Jul 08, 2013
joinnow: Wisely, therefore, you must consider the consequences of engaging in conduct that arouses sexual feelings. What if you are too young to marry? Then why kiss or do anything in a way that would arouse you sexually? All that this would accomplish is to cause you frustration. This is because there is no way for you as a true Christian to take those romantic feelings to their logical conclusion—sexual intercourse. The Bible makes clear that such relations are proper only within marriage.—1 Corinthians 6:18.
Consider, too, the other person, who might be aroused sexually by your romantic activity. Is it not deceitful, and even cruel, to kiss or caress someone you are not in a position to marry or may not even seriously consider as a potential marriage mate? (Compare Proverbs 26:18, 19.) The Bible warns: “The cruel person is bringing ostracism upon his own organism.”—Proverbs 11:17.
It shouldn’t be any secret to a Bible student that a romantic touch or a kiss can arouse strong sexual desire. The Bible tells of the seduction of a young man by a prostitute. It says: “She has grabbed hold of him and given him a kiss.” (Proverbs 7:13) Such a kiss or touch can trigger a profound physical response. As intimacies progress a boy or a girl becomes increasingly aroused. Frankly, the body is getting ready for sexual intercourse.
If a couple are married, they can satisfy their passions in a delightful and honorable way. But when an unmarried couple indulge in passion-arousing sexual play, problems are sure to result
on point. May God bless u with more wisdom. Amen

Afam4eva: Most Christians are dummies. That something sounds or looks sinful doesn't make it sinful. Read your bible and see if you'll find where it says that it's a sin or not.
are u not d worst dummy for expecting to see it directly/physically in the Bible? Do u think d Bible is an ordinary instructional manual. If u can't read the Bible praying the Holy Spirit to interpret and shapen ur understanding, think twice and come out of religion and embrace Righteousness. Thanks

@Op, I support all articles against. It shouldn't be seen if u crave to attain righteousness in the sight of God, not men. Hugging can be condoned, if pure and jst friendly, not intimate, if u understand what I mean.
