A Ghanaian doctor based in Perth, Australia, Dr. Kwasi Yeboah, has been making the headlines across the globe after he performed roadside surgery without anaesthesia on a man involved in a fatal road accident.
The victim known as Simon was returning to Perth when the unfortunate incident took place and was critically injured with multiple broken bones and a punctured lung.
Dr. Kwasi Yeboah, a registrar at the Royal Perth Hospital, was the saviour on the day when he chanced upon the accident after missing his turn in search of mangoes at a mango farm.
Having come across the victim, who was in a critical situation, Dr. Yeboah believed the only decision was to operate him right there if there was any chance of him surviving.
“I was going to find mangoes to buy on a mango farm and I think I missed my turning or I couldn’t find the sign so I kept driving north.
“It was chaotic and hard to describe as there were cars driving past and people pulling up as well and at a distance running across the road, I didn’t think he will make it.
“At that time the assessment was that he had a tension pneumothorax which is a life threatening condition and could be fatal.
“He was deteriorating before our eyes, his blood pressure was going down, his heart rate was rising, his oxygen level was dropping and I thought he was going to die.
“Anything you do for a patient is a calculated risk and at that time it was a calculated risk that had to be made within seconds.
“He was going to have a cardiac arrest so I said to him, mate I am going to do something which is going to hurt but it will save your life, then he put his hand on my knee and said go for it.
“When he was ready for transfer back into the helicopter, he deteriorated again so he kept saying doc doc doc you’ve got to do something so I run back and they took him out of the ambulance unto the road and then I had to open up his chest again through the old wound to let out the air trapped in his chest.”
The victim after four months is still in a wheelchair and is expected to walk again.

Morocco has sent a special envoy to lobby African leaders to rejoin the African Union 32 years after it left in a row over Western Sahara.
Taib Fassi Fihri met Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nairobi and said Morocco wants to re-join the AU without any preconditions.
Morocco claims Western Sahara as part of its territory, much of which it has occupied since 1975.
But the AU recognises Western Sahara as an independent state.
Morocco is the only African country not to be an AU member.
The AU, however, says it will continue pushing for the rights of Western Sahara to hold a referendum on its self-determination.
Brahim Ghali, the new leader of the North African territory is expected to attend the African Union summit in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, according to the AU's deputy chairperson Erastus Mwencha.
Mr Ghali was elected the Western Sahara president and secretary-general of the independence movement Polisario Front on 9 July.
He replaced long-time leader Mohamed Abdelaziz who died in May.

How did we get here?

Distribution is the next big thing for me. Look for a product people buy from the market, research on how to be a distributor to get lower prices, get a vehicle to distribute the product and sell at market price. If you can be a distributor to five companies, you will resign from that your oil and gas job.

When you get to the companies and they say you need N5m to be a distributor, just tell them you want to be a sub distributor. If you don't have the capital, borrow, sell your iPad, save, do all you can to legally get that amount. Buy your first stock, sell them all off, pay back your debt and continue with what you have.

GROUP A; it will be a very easy ride for DR congo,right now they have one of the best players in Africa with a very nice strike force.There only problem will come from Tunisia who are not having the best of times.

GROUP B; very difficult group for Nigeria but the group can actually go well for them if the first match which will take place in Algeria go in Nigeria favour probably a point which is doable not because am a Nigeria; Nigeria actually play beta when they play in a nice pitch and trust me that can create a good momentum for dem;Cameroon football is not of high standard anymore and Zambia is beatable home and away.

GROUP C; This is the group of dead for me because the 4 team have equal chances of going to russia,gabon might seem to be minnows but they got a good striker who is actually the African footballer of the year,ivory Coast ain't that strong with the retirement of there golden generation and Morocco is always a good side in there day.But I think Mali have some thing special from the bunch HUNGER and they have very good player all over the globe. Am goin for Mali.

GROUP D; This is the easiest group of all,with south Africa football not ready to achieve it potential and Burkina Faso football going down after there 2016 afcon final appearance I expect a special Senegal squad to cruise straight to Senegal without any hitch...they will only encounter some problems from Cape Verde bur don't be suprise if Senegal comes out with 18 points from this group

Netherlands is on the verge of closing eight prisons due to lack of criminals. According to the Dutch justice ministry there are declining crime rates with only 12,000 detainees currently incarcerated with the prisons in the country’s prison capacity of 14,000 prisoners. There is expected to be a trend of the declining numbers.
Last month Norway decided to outsource prisoners to the Netherlands because its own prisons are so overcrowded. In 2010 Belgian authorities also decided to start renting prisons in Netherlands since its own prisons were at full capacity.
Netherlands’ rehabilitation programme and social re-integration of criminals seems to be working for it.
According to ZME Science, Netherlands has been experiencing the steady drop in crime rate over the last 12 years because of favourable factors such as relaxed drug laws in the country, wide-spread use of ankle monitoring system, reduction in more serious crimes and shorter sentences.
The report further states that at least 19 jails were closed in 2013 due to low numbers of prisoners.
