Look you can't negate robbery statistics with traffic. There are many " soft targets" in areas with good connections to expressways that can take you away from the scene in minutes. How does traffic explain the absence of any single off hours attack using explosives - is there traffic at midnight?

Traffic is a double edged sword. It affects police response as well. Can robbers not use high speed bikes for getaway ? They've done so in the past, they've even used lagos extensive waterways.

I think @cheaphomes1 won't ever be satisfied with any explanations. He pretends and wants it explained as if he were a child.

By late 70's,the British government led by Thatcher,realised government can no longer manage, subsidised and maintain monopoly on national institutions, this led to privatisation. It was opposed with strikes,but the government navigated through these problems by providing subsidised health system,housing etc.

Nigeria continued after independence on the same nationalist and welfarist policy of the British. And I know the benefits of the removal if we have sincere government. But,are we sure the removal won't be an added burdens on Nigerians?Knowing our own privatisation that started over 30 years ago is still about asset stripping

Subsidy almost always comes with regulated prices. Without that, the costs to government are basically INFINITE.

If government starts setting the price of garri tomorrow, garri will become scarce. A black market for garri will start operating just like the black market in forex and fuel. This is really easy to understand, I think most Nigerians like to PRETEND they don't get it.

I'm very realistic and Nigerians generally have problems with any kind of realism. Good thing I'm not a politician so I don't have to sugarcoat anything and that's a reason to actually commend this Abiola fellow.

I didn't say corruption will disappear. I said it will be drastically reduced and there's plenty of evidence right there in Nigeria. Why ANYONE would choose to reject the evidence is unclear to me.

Compare the levels of corruption in PRIVATE Universities versus the subsidized, price regulated, GOVERNMENT owned universities.

When government owned NITEL was the only telecom company available, it was subsidized by government. You had to pay a bribe to get a phone line and only the rich had phones.

Today telecoms is privately owned with ZERO subsidy and most poor people have phones. Have you ever heard of anyone paying a bribe to get a phone line since 2001?

Just universities and telecoms provide enough evidence for the case I'm making. If you want to abolish scarcity and corruption and reduce prices in the fuel sector, the solution is known, it's already being practiced in other sectors. What Nigerians need is the courage to bear the INITIAL pains which will lead to long term gains.

For over 20 years subsidy should have gone if we have sincere leadership. All those in power know this,but the consequence of removal is what they fear,knowing petroleum subsidy is the only benefit aside subsidised education Nigerians get from them.

The current economic situation offers them little to steal hence no other choice than to face consequence of removal

Either we buy petrol at the market price at the pump...or we keep pretending we can buy it at N40, and still pay the market price.....in the form of loans and debts and more loans.
