mukina2: Over 500 applications were received from Nigerians in the Diaspora among the 24,000 who applied to participate in the Federal Government youth entrepreneurship programme, YOUWIN. Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala disclosed this at an agreement signing ceremony between the Federal Ministry of Finance, Youth Development and ICT and participating banks, in Abuja, on Wednesday. The huge interest shown by the applicants at home and abroad, the Minister said, was a vote of confidence on the programme by Nigerian youths. YOUWIN was launched in October last year by President Goodluck Jonathan to provide jobs for 80,000 and 100,000 unemployed youths. The jobs will be created through businesses created by the 3,600 youths with brilliant business ideas who will be identified through YOUWIN and directly supported to realize their entrepreneurial ideas over the next three years. At the signing ceremony were representatives of the 6,000 applicants selected on merit from the 24,000 applications received. The eventual winners will receive between one million to ten million naira, training, support for equity in their business, introduction to banks for additional credit and mentoring. The minister thanked the participating banks, development partners, including the World Bank and DFID as well as SMEDAN, Bank of Industry and some private sector organisations, for their financial and other support for YOUWIN. When did this happen? I am among the selected 6000 but I have no idea about the bolded line. |

Me_Aboki: @OP: I initially wanted to take you up seriously, however, your username suggested otherwise. In any case, you may want to refer to the national bureau of statistics for your answer and maybe take a peek at Nigeria's distribution of solid minerals for starters. While, at it you may also wish to rephrase your question to ask what southerners actually actively contribute to the nations economy so that we can truly appreciate how the north is parasitic to justify you hatred. I am waiting, pls fire on. Let me see. . . 1. First of all, over 90 percent of the federal governments revenue is generated from the south. No oil money also means no good roads in the north, no money to pay your illiterate lawmakers and politicians, no money to fund your boko haram terrorists. . 2. The southerners are more educated (or can I say schooled) and enlightened than the northerners. That means there are more southern medical doctors, engineers, lecturers, teachers, bankers, business men/women etc 3. The southerners control the entertainment industry in Nigeria, which contributes enormously to the national GDP. You abokis are too boring, name one northern super star if you can 4. 99 percent of Nigerians doing the country proud in the international/global stage are all from the south 5, |

Kobojunkie: ^^^ Poverty index in Nigeria was never at 54%. It has not been near that since the last 20 years ago at least. The Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, stated that that 70 percent (105 million) of Nigerians are now living below the poverty line, up from 54 percent a year or two ago. No be me talk am o Kobojunkie: And No, you do not need to be UNEMPLOYED to be poor or very poor. That is why there is the below $1.25 a day and below $2 a day marks to help guage how poor people are. I know. But remember I also said underemployed. |

emiye: Nigeria’s high poverty level

Only recently, at the Annual Microfinance Conference and Entrepreneurship Awards held in Abuja, the Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, stated that that 70 percent (105 million) of Nigerians are now living below the poverty line, up from 54 percent a year or two ago. Sanusi added that such high incidence of poverty threatened national economic growth and development. Included in this troubling reality is over 12 million youths, mostly educated and potentially productive, who are unemployed.
The authorities must recognise this development for what it really is: a threat to the security and stability the nation.
From a monetary perspective, Sanusi emphasized the need to develop a financial sector that is inclusive, geared to empower potential investors big and small so as to improve people’s lives, lamenting that 46.3 percent of Nigerians are financially excluded due to low level bank penetration in the country, and that beside the 815 Microfinance Banks, the 24 ‘big banks’ have only 5,789 branches, mostly concentrated in a few urban centres.
\http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10864:nigerias-high-poverty-level&catid=17:editorial&Itemid=9 How exactly did the poverty index leapfrog from 54 percent to 70 percent in just a year or two? Abi na subsidies? Personally, I dont believe the poverty rate is 70 percent. If it is seventy percent, that means seventy percent of nigerians are unemployed/underemployed, don't save, barely feed, dont go to school etc. And the economy depends on the remaining 30 percent for survival thats definitely not true |

When Americans are complaining about job losses, Do they need to have a PhD in Economics like bernanke? All the ppl know is the economy is bad and we voted in Obama, Yes they need to understand, GEJ is also concerned and worried but as a president, you wouldn't expect him to make careless decisions which would backfire and cause more harm than good. |

Crude Oil: A hippie gets onto a bus and sits next to a nun in the front seat. The hippie looks over and asks the nun if she would Be Intimate with him.
The nun, surprised by the question, politely declines and gets off at the next stop. When the bus starts again, the bus driver says to the hippie, "If you want, I can tell you how you can get that nun to Be Intimate with you."
The hippie of course says that he'd love to know, so the bus driver tells him that every Tuesday evening at midnight the nun goes to the cemetery to pray to the lord. "If you went dressed in robes and some glowing powder," says the bus driver, "You could tell her you were God and command her to Be Intimate with you."
The hippie decides to try this out. That Tuesday, he goes to the cemetery and waits for the nun. Right on schedule, the nun shows up. While she's in the middle of praying, the hippie walks out from hiding, in robes and glowing with a mask of god. "I am God, I have heard your prayers and I will answer them but you must Be Intimate with me first," he says.
The nun agrees but asks for backdoor so she might keep her virginity. The hippie agrees to this and quickly sets about Being Intimate with the nun.
After the hippie finishes, he rips off his mask and shouts out, "Ha ha, I'm the hippie! "
The nun replies by whipping off her mask and shouting, "Ha ha, I'm the bus driver!" LMAO |

I mean there's the circumstancial evidence that all women are lesbians. Women rarely ask out men, women would never read playgirl magazine, but would definitely read playboy magazine, women often hold hands, go to the bathroom together, etc, most women DON'T orgasm from heterosexual sex, women are extremely picky about the men they'll sleep with, women think the male body is uglier than the female body, women demand that men alter their bodies(circumcision). Well, now there's SCIENTIFIC PROOF, ALL WOMEN ARE LESBIANS. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/12/fashion/12bisex.html |
