The airport pickup is actually the least of my problems. I'd be missing my flight from JFK to Detroit, and the money is non-refundable. Also, spending 28hours in a lounge in Cassablanca is not even something I want to think about now. Is there really nothing that can be done? Like get them to put one on an earlier flight? I've sent them a mail but no reply yet. Nitta08: |
bleeping Royal Air Maroc just changed my itinerary 24hours to departure. With the new schedule I would have to spend 28hours in Cassablanca, miss my connecting flight from JFK to Detroit, and miss my scheduled school pick-up from the airport. This new schedule would be both costly and terribly inconvenient for me. What can I do please? |
Go to the homepage of Royal Air Maroc. Then click Manage My Booking. You'll see booking number and passenger name. Put the 6-digit code under booking number. But instead of putting your full name under passenger name, put only your surname. Let me know if this helps. Nahum777: |
Did they send you a 6-digit alphanumeric code? Probably titled check-in number or reservation number? Nahum777: |
daking10:Absolutely. Check your mail. |
To God be the glory! Visa approved on Saturday 21st July. I was interviewed by a White male at window 3. He wasn’t super nice, but wasn’t mean either; he kept looking at his screen and typing for much of the interview. Here’s our conversation: Me: Good morning V.O: Good morning V.O: What course are you going for? Me: I’m going for my Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. V.O: Why this course? Me: I currently hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, and at this time I would love to specialize in one of the sub-divisions of Chemical Engineering, which is Renewable Energy. Particularly, I’ll be working on the production of biofuels from renewable sources such as algae and lingo-cellulosic biomass. With this degree and this specialization in renewable energy, when I return back to Nigeria I can apply for a higher position where I currently work and contribute my quota to improving the energy situation in Nigeria. V.O: How did you hear about this school? Me: It was recommended to me by my project supervisor during my final year of undergraduate studies. V.O: Why this school? Me: I chose The University of Toledo because there is ongoing research on my area of interest, which is renewable energy like I mentioned earlier. V.O: How do you plan to pay for this? Me: In addition to my full tuition scholarship, my uncle will take care of my other needs. V.O: What does your uncle do? Me: He works at …... V.O: What will you do after this course? Me: I’ll return back to my country and apply for a higher position at my current place of work. V.O: Do you have a brother in the US? Me: Yes. V.O: Is he studying there? Me: Yes V.O: Your visa is approved. Pick it up at……. Me: Thank you! Kudos to those that have shared their transcripts here, and to those who continuosly answer people’s questions. God bless us all. |
Mayflowa:Bro, I think you're confusing LSU with Texas A&M College Station |
Scholastica16:Do not be discouraged at all. Since you're applying for phd, you only have to worry about the final deadline as all admitted PhD students are funded. But still, as sirriddy said, the earlier the better. |
kunbeeee:The first deadline is probably for early bird admission. Most schools have two deadlines: early bird and the final one. Most applicants send in their application before the final deadline, so the few that send in before the first deadline have a higher chance of getting funding. This only applies to MS applicants though, as very few of them get funded. If you're applying for PhD then you only need to worry about the final deadline. |
Scholastica16:Congrats on your AW score. I also applied for the chemical engineering program at two of the schools on your list, K-state and LSU. Bear in mind that the application deadline for early bird admission to K state is Dec 15. |
Lashbeat:Congratulations ooooooo ![]() |
happyday:Local government identification is also very important. |
OGreene:The Web address you typed is wrong. Use kaomanfen.com Besides, I suggest you use a PC. |

Guys, please i need some clarification. I'm a little confused on whether to put a faculty's name on my MS personal statement or not. On one hand, i feel if i don't put it, the admissions committee might not know which faculty to ask if there's vacancy, which might lead to denial; on the other hand, i think if i include a faculty's name and the faculty happens not to have a vacancy in his lab, that might also be denial...what do you guys think? |
happyday:Boss, please do you some time to help me go through my SOP? Thanks. |
ToluNewman:It appears the previous links have been taken down. I just uploaded my copy to dropbox now. Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9biiirqkvscmaot/MG%20Prem_2.rar?dl=0 It's about 1 gig. |
drhopeful:This is quite sad to hear. Please do not lose hope. Prepare well for your toefl and give it your best. I hope and pray they eventually come up with favorable response regarding the gre. |
Shalomated:I registered with them. They are legit. Just don't leave everything to them. Create your account yourself and give them your username and password, then change your password after you get registration confirmation email from ets. |
At first I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, but after reading that some people on the thread are thinking of rewriting I decided to share my experience so they can gain from it. Anybody that read my first post would know I wasn't satisfied with my quant score, so I decided to rewrite. I knew I didn't need that much further preparation, so I chose the earliest possible date after the 21-day rule. I finally wrote it again yesterday, about 25 days after the first. I had Q167 V158. The key to having truly great scores in the quant is practise questions! Throughout my second preparation I never opened any textbook, because I knew I already had the basic knowledge. I started with magoosh videos; I only watched about 150 of them before my first test, so I watched the rest. Then I subscribed to high speed internet and practised tirelessly with online resources. The good thing about online resources is, after seeing your scores you can review and get detailed explanation on all questions(including the ones you get right - you might learn a better/shorter way). I started with kaomanfen.com. The questions here aren't too tough, so by the time you solve 10-15 full lenghts, you should be having scores close to 170. (I skipped the AW and verbal sections of the full lenghts.) Then I went to Kaplan's site. They give you access to one full lenght for free, but you can access the other 6 full lenghts with the passcode "response". The six tests were extremely helpful. I had 162 in the first test, but after reviewing answers to all questions, I saw gradual increase in subsequent tests. By the time I got to the sixth full lenght, I had 170! I also did princeton review's online practise questions and a few other random ones. For those preparing, you don't have to read ALL the textbooks that have been mentioned; stick to one or two and read it from start to finish(I used Nova in my own case). Then watch all the magoosh videos and then do a lot of practise questions. All the best! |
Cephas0009:I just sent you a pm. Thanks a lot. |
ecaaychukwu:Use BY Mafit in Ikeja. They charge 50k for gre, 45 for toefl. U can Google B.Y mafit for their website and contact details. |
Drhopeful, you once mentioned a book on how to write a good SOP...can I get it pls? I just sent you a pm with my email address. |
Gunbiz:I used Barron's top 800 words. Please note that knowing 'big words' is not enough; context is equally important, which is where magoosh videos will help u. |
Gunbiz:Honestly, all the materials you need have been mentioned on this thread. For quant, I used Nova primarily and ran through most of the other books. I used Princeton review, official guide and magoosh videos for verbal. Magoosh videos were very helpful for TC and SE. |
OluDare01: drhopeful: cuspy:Thank you guys. All the best to drhopeful as you rewrite. All the best to cuspy as well. |
drhopeful:Well, I didn't exactly blast the GRE. I'm not much of a storyteller so I apologize if this isn't as interesting as you guys would want. I had 316(Q160, V156) Issue essay was quite straightforward; something about the government funding indigent students. I was able to come up with 3 solid body paragraphs and even had time to proofread. Argument essay was quite different from what I had learned. The argument was based on only one premise, so I found it hard to come up with three assumptions. However I still wrote a descent essay but didn't have time to proofread. First verbal was alright but I didn't have time to finish RC questions. First Quant was simple; no traps, no tough questions. Second verbal was not too tough as well(this confirmed my suspicion that I didn't do well in the first ) but still I didn't finish RCs. Second Quant was tough and had mad traps. I ran out of time on the 17th question. Third verbal was just there. For those that are yet to write the test, please practise with at least 3 full length practise tests to know where u need to work on and how to manage time. All the best! |
drhopeful:And me too please |
Glowrie22:Amen ooo!!! #MoneyMustNotWaste |
Who else is using mnemonics to learn gre 'big' words? ![]() |
