Programming is only a tool for communicating with computers. There are many things you can ask a computer to do; web design, app design and data science are common examples.

You only need mathematics and stats if you're going to data science and related fields.

UI/UX designers are more or less graphics designers.

In summary, you don't need to be a mathematician before venturing into programming.

A programmer must have good knowledge of mathematics Very important.

In d field of computing what really matters is the skill. An employer is looking for someone that can proffer solution to problems. Besides, What u will learn by just watching a YouTube video , Nigeria universities can teach u for a whole semester with bulky hand-outs.
If u av the skill and u can prove urself, forget degree. Since I av graduated I av not tendered my certificate for any employment and I have been working for over two years now. ur employer will forget to ask for ur certificate if u are solving problem. Dey will just ask for photocopy to keep in ur file for formalty sake

The influential ones hardly graduate b4 they sart working. There are jobs only that it's being reserved for the children of powerful people.
It's worth it to go through University but choose ur curse wisely and acquire markeable skills along the line. Ur University degree will make marketing ur skill easier.

You can. be a security .man and still command respect.It depends on how you carry yourself. I worked as a security man when I was just 21, my own challenge was my small stature but I carried myself with confidence, I had a good relationship with my coworkers and I was getting extra money aside my salary, I was looking fresh. Hunger wired me from my Part 1 in d uni. no good cloth, I can remember a day I took my only shoe to a cobler and he rejected it, I couldn't make friends,. until part 4 dat I went for I.T , then I stayed with a brother for the 6 month I.T. I was feeding fine for that period. before i went for I.T. I used to think that I was not strong enough to do building work (labour). but during my IT in a (construction company), I saw the way ladies were working on site , I was challenged. so immediately I resumed school after IT, (now in part 5), in order to liberate myself from the hunger that had been wiring me for the past four years, I visited a site in the school where a new lecture theatre was being constructed to seek for job. I was hired, we worked from 9am to 8 pm. I was carrying concrete in head pan on my head to the upper floor. I almost died, but I didn't have option I was the first person to arrive site d following day. I did that for d whole of my final year. Anytime there was a break between lectures , I would rush to d site pack like 100 blocks , bath and go for another lecture. I emaciated and pple were asking me what was wrong. Its a long story but I ensured I made a 2:1
