Catholic priest jailed in New York for protest at Planned Parenthood abortion facility Fri Jun 30 2023by Premier Journalist A Catholic priest and pro-life activist has been sentenced to six months in federal prison by a New York court for blocking access to a Planned Parenthood abortion facility. Father Fidelis Moscinski, a Franciscan friar, told Judge Steven Tiscione that a law criminalising his actions was ‘null and void’ and that he was justified in placing locks and chains on the gated entrance. “My actions … were done because Planned Parenthood as an organization is in the business of killing,” Moscinski told the judge, according to his remarks provided by the pro-life organization Red Rose Rescue to the Catholic News Agency. Moscinski was found guilty of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which imposes penalties for obstructing access to an abortion facility or a pregnancy centre. He was given the maximum sentence. “This pseudo-law seeks to cloak the act of killing preborn children under the euphemistic and Orwellian language of ‘reproductive health care,’” Moscinski told the court in a written statement. “I am not guilty of violating this law because this law cannot be seen as anything other than null and void since it attempts to give legal protection to actions which are intrinsically evil and unjust.” Father Moscinski is a member of American pro-life direct action group, Red Rose Rescue, which says on its website that their rescuers ‘peacefully talk to women scheduled for abortion, with the goal of persuading them to choose life’. It states in its ‘Rescue Code of Conduct’ that ‘Those who participate in Red Rose Rescue will refrain from violence of any kind in the Red Rose Rescue mission. Christian non-violence is a pledge not to fight back, but to imitate Jesus in His Passion who offered no resistance to injury’. Red Rose Rescue says that Fr Moscinski’s effort to block access to an abortion clinic was not sanctioned by the group and that its members are sole agents when staging a protest. “Every procured abortion that occurs on [Planned Parenthood’s] premises constitutes the deliberate killing of an innocent human being,” Moscinski declared in his statement to the judge. “Furthermore, these bloody and violent acts also cause grave spiritual and psychological harm to the mother of the child. All of my actions then and now are directed solely towards preventing the murder of defenceless children and the wounding of their mothers.” Moscinski has previously been arrested for his pro-life activism, but this is the first time he has been found guilty of violating the FACE Act. Last year, he was arrested for trespassing in an abortion clinic after entering the facility in protest and refusing to leave when ordered by staff and then by police. According to Red Rose Rescue, activist Laura Gies will be sentenced on 30 June for her part in a similar Red Rose Rescue in 2021.

Russian developers have developed an alternative to the Google Play Store and will launch it on May 9. The date is Russia's Victory Day, a national holiday that celebrates the country's victory in the second world war. The alternative store was developed after Google suspended all payment-based services in Russia earlier this month, asking developers to make critical apps free instead. "Unfortunately, Russians can no longer normally use Google Play to buy apps, and developers have lost their source of income," said Vladimir Zykov, director of projects at Digital Platforms, an organization focused on digital development in a statement to Reuters. "This is why we have created a Russian app shop, NashStore," he added. NashStore translates to "OurStore" in English. According to the developers, it will serve the Russian Android devices and will also be compatible with the Russian Mir bank cards. On Victory Day, Russia traditionally holds a display of its military power with a parade that passes through Moscow's Red Square. The Holy Father has accepted the voluntary retirement of His Grace Most Rev. Dr Anthony Obinna as the Archbishop of Owerri. In his place Most Rev Dr Lucius Ugorji of Umuahia Diocese has been appointed the Archbishop of Owerri. Archbishop Ugorji will remain the Apostolic Administrator of Ahiara Diocese.

Kiev made the move after Georgia would not allow a plane to pick up volunteers for Ukraine’s war against Russia. “This decision is unacceptable and unjustified, given all that Georgia has done for Ukraine in recent days,” said Kobakhidze, who leads the ruling party Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia. However, he said he won’t continue to criticize the government in Kiev, given the very difficult situation in Ukraine due to the hostilities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced earlier on Tuesday he was pulling the ambassador back to Kiev for consultations, accusing Georgia of obstructing volunteers who wanted to fight for Ukraine and an “immoral” position about sanctions. On Monday, Zelensky lifted the visa requirement for foreign volunteers wishing to join Ukraine’s International Legion. However, Georgia denied a Ukrainian plane permission to land at the Tbilisi airport and pick up a group of volunteers that said they wanted to enlist. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said last week that the republic would not join the sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia. Moscow ordered troops into Ukraine on February 23, calling it a special operation to demilitarize and “denazify” its neighbor and protect the newly recognized Donbass republics. Ukraine has accused Russia of unprovoked invasion and received support from the West in the form of moral condemnations, sanctions against Russia, and weapons.

Hello pals,I need information on how to go about my dog,it's a 3 months puppy,it has been acting week,it doesn't eat, vomits and her stool is watery.I took her to the veterinary doctor yesterday and the doctor that there is this viral disease on the air this period that affects puppies,the doctor have her 3 different injections and some other drugs which am to give to her at home.pls I really need suggestions....thanks 1 Like

Its is exactly 1 year today,on the 5th of october 2012 in a village called Aluu precisely between the hours of 7~8am in the morning,that agony filled friday that the lives of four innocent young ebullient Nigerians were taken away in the most wicked of ways.These boys whoes names are as follows 19 year old Lloyd Toku who was a 200 level civil engineering student,18 year old Ugonna Obuzor who was a 200 level student of geology,20 year old Chidiaka Biringa who was a 200 level student of theatre arts,and 20 year old Tekena Erikena who was a diploma student.These boys like most of us now know were murdered in very wicked,gruesome and horrific manner despite being innocent of the alleged crime of stealing mere laptops and phones.ever since i mistakenly saw that video where these boys were been beaten with sticks,stones irons and very other objects that there murderers could lay their hands on,i have been tormented by it each time it comes back to my memory,i can only imagine the pain,misery anguish and sorrow these boys felt at the very point of death talk more of their parents,the family and friends they left behind.in those boys we had an engineer,a geologist, and an actor whose lives were abruptly and wickedly ended.i pray that where so ever u guys are that you find peace and love which your killers denied you and that u guys would continue sleeping in Gods arms in heaven.it been a year but to me it seems i just woke up after having a nightmare,thinking it was just but a mere dream....sobs.keep sleeping in Jesus till we meet someday somewhere in heaven |
