Politics / Again Chinedu Eya Writes Enugu Governor by chi2054real: 5:55pm On Jun 16, 2018
*His Excellency,
Rt. Hon. Ifenyi Ugwuanyi,
Executive Governor,
Enugu State.*

Sir,

*A Thank You Letter and Appeal For Fairness During Our Zonal Primary Election*
Your Excellency, I would like to thank you for the invaluable fatherly-support, love and care you showed me during my recent phone conversation with you, following my letter of expression of interest to contest for Enugu North Senatorial election of 2019.

I especially appreciate the words of wisdom you provided, and the special recorgnition you accorded me during your visit to Igboeze North Local Government Area to inaugurate Gburugburu Movement, last time.
Again, thank you so much, your Excellency. I greatly appreciate your generosity.

That said, let me use this opportunity to state that since our last phone conversation, I have as a Senatorial aspirant under our great party, carried out my consultations and vigorously taken the message of our "No Vacancy in the Lion Building, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Till 2023" to every nook and crannies of the Society through production and distribution of over 3000 jotters, 4000 T-shirts,150000 Hand bills and campaign Billboards, all carrying the same message of "No vacancy in the Lion Building, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Till 2023."

However, while we were busy carrying out this project, came a speculation that the senator has been going about boasting that His Excellency the Governor of Enugu State has already handed him the ticket of Enugu North Senatorial district for 2019 with every braggadocio; thus negating the principles of fainess and equity as provided by democracy and enshrined in our Party constitution.

Your Excellency, we also have it in good confidence that he (The Senator) moves around bandying the claim that he would spend the constituency project money to buy off the *hungry* delegates of our great party PDP.

It is therefore, worthy of note to state that such tag (Hungry) for our esteemed party delegates amounts to denigration of our great party men and women and desecration of sanctity of humanity in general.

*More so Your Excellency, there is also an urgent need to dispel the notion across Enugu State that His Excellency would replicate his recent endorsement by the National Assembly Caucus of our Party, by ensuring that the Caucus members are returned in 2019; even with some of them having nothing to show for the time spent in representing their constituencies.*

That said my leader, while we know that His Excellency’s abilities/integrity is not in doubt, we wish to notify His Excellency that our loyalty to His personality and office is not and will never be in doubt.

Let me also use this opportunity, his Excellency, to respectfully restate our earlier position and solicit once again that as a father to all in Enugu State and leader of our political party that you ensure that our great Party, the PDP conducts its primary elections in a free, fair and credible manner so as to bring out the best the party can offer.

Politics / *if I Were Atiku Abubakar: Four Things I'd Have Done Differently * *by=>chinedu by chi2054real: 4:41pm On May 23, 2018
1. I would have Commenced Heart to Heart consultation with all PDP Governors who will eventually be among delegates to decide my fate in the PDP primaries. Most Governors in their executive positions would like to be treated nicely and given relevance. They are presently the backbones of the party and none of them should be ignored or relegated to the background considering the obvious fact that they have all vehemently stood their grounds against our oppressor - the All Progressive Congress APC; Preaching the sermon of your “plans for the liberation of all the citizens of Nigeria without the exception of any tribe and tongue from the entrapment of the APC Change which is negative in orientation”.

2. Feeling the obvious neglect existing in this country on the part of the youths' relevance in governance, I will begin to sample smart Youths for the post of Vice President. This will give you crowd and massive support from the youths who form 75% of Voters strength in this country, it will also enhance their sense of belonging. It will be a bold footprint in the Sand of time that I conquered the existing practice of gross neglect for the youths. Don’t forget the saying: “the power of the youths is the commonwealth of the entire world. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Said “Today our survival depend on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new idea and to face the challenge of Change”. Incorporating the youths Vice presidency idea in your manifestoes will greatly grant you numbers and help outwit this endemic challenge of Change.

3. I will Consider an Igbo Vice President for industrialization outlook based on the following:
(I). The outgoing Vice President is a Yoruba. They are our best brothers but has little contribution of WILL when it comes to actual decisions in governance. They have also enjoyed power in all category as far as Nigeria is concerned but the Igbo’s are truly feeling marginalized and excluded from the scheme of things in the Nigeria nation.
(II). The outgoing vice President doesn’t have progressive ideas because he is limited by law which he studied but law does not exist in vacuum.Law is for and/or of something and our country need more of industrialization to be out of this present state of economic woes.
(III). The outgoing Vice President has little or no knowledge about industrialization.
The Igbos are also feeling marginalized and giving them the VP position will give you the entire country and silence the voice of agitation often heard from the South East.

4. I will commence a nation Wide Party Repositioning tour to consolidate your presence in PDP, this will go a long way to assure PDP members that they are not losing you henceforth to other parties. Rebuilding trust will Improve Your Performance. Knowing the trust level is crucial to understanding how to interact with others. Developing cooperative and unconditional trust among Party Stakeholders, Decisions can happen faster, and complexities can be reduced. Furthermore you can use the tour strategy to appease all stakeholders who feel aggrieved in one way or the other and then carry them along in your pursuit. This tour will also help appease your co-aspirants who might soft tune the imperative alternatives.

These are the few among the many strategies Chinedu Eya will put in place if he was Atiki Abubakar.

Politics / Chief Chinedu Eya Saddened Over Deaths Of Kenyans by chi2054real: 8:08pm On May 11, 2018
An Enugu North Senatorial aspirant, Chief Chinedu Eya has expressed sadness over the death of Kenyans, following dam burst after weeks of heavy rain, causing “huge destruction of properties and deaths of the country's citizens.

"This is a huge loss for Kenya, Africa and the globe;" he said.

Politics / History Beckons As Enugu Prepares To Produce Youngest Senator In 2019 by chi2054real: 9:42pm On May 10, 2018
From findings, everyday, all roads lead to Chief Chinedu Eya's mansion at GRA, Nsukka.

The thronging of the youthful Senatorial aspirant's home by leaders of thoughts, market men and women, political office holders, political analysts, traditional rullers, the clergy and youths of the densely populated zone in Enugu did not come as a surprise though.

Residents of GRA Nsukka who confided in this reporter, revealed that the trend has become a tradition as people visit chief Chinedu everyday, with their dancing drums and other instruments, pressuring him to come and serve the zone.
"There were times such groups spent days dancing and singing with Chief Edu's name. But the truth is, chief is such a good man. He is philanthropic. He is kind and ready to assist anybody any time. So people throng his home for this reason."
Our reporter also went to Nsukka motor park to sample opinion on this trend, following the clamour and agitation for Chinedu's election as senator, and the response did not change.
speaking with Ngozi Alumona, a provision's store attendant, she told Eagle's reporters that since the news for 2019 started, the only name they hear in the park is Chinedu Eya.
" I have not met him before. But people talk about his goodness, his kind heart and generosity. They said he moves with everybody irrespective of if his class;" she concluded
When we eventually spoke with a commissioner in the state government who pleaded for anonimity, he told Us that even the government of Enugu is already aware tension is mounting for the youthful PDP chieftain to become senator.
" if it happens as expected, it will put us in the vanguard and national spotlight as a state. This is going to be historical because he would become the youngest senator in Nigeria. I think this is more reason people want him. Aside that, Chinedu is strikingly brilliant, intelligent and has the oratory, required of a Senator;" He concluded.
Meanwhile, when we contacted chief Chinedu's Media adviser, Gwiyi Solomon on phone to give chief Edu's angle to the above trend, he told our reporters "there is a mass movement capable of shocking the entire nation come 2019. And it is Chinedu Eya Mass movement for 2019, coordinated by Comrade Oliver Okonkwo from Uzo Uwani."
You see, there is a whirlwind coming - It is mass movement for Chinedu Eya. And very shortly, it will shock the entire nation. I am speaking as an insider, I have seen preparation, I have seen commitment, I have seen dedication and I have seen selflessness capable of doing the unexpected; he said.
Meanwhile our efforts to speak with Senator Utazi proved abortive as the numbers given to us rang severally without response.

Celebrities / *:as Chinedu Eya Bows To Pressure* by chi2054real: 11:13am On May 08, 2018
The calls came in torrents; and the pressure like downpour. The messages came cascading while the thronging of his abode at GRA, Nsukka a daily activity.

Without equivocation, Since the past one year now and counting, there is no passing day without the generous and generally accepted Chief hosting different individuals and groups for no other reason than the one you already know.

The pressure for chief Eya to contest Enugu North Senatorial elections by these groups can be likened to a thunderstorm.

In each visit by these groups, their messages were without lurid and blurred paintings but with every clarity and simplicity.

The people want a paradigm shift and a clear departure from the status-quo. They are yearning for a responsive and purposeful leadership at the zonal level.
In this quest and as far as these groups are concerned, everything is on the table - they went on air, sending their messages through every available means.

Today, "the rest" they say, "is history" as the latest bride in Enugu North (Chief Chinedu Eya) has heeded this noble call to offer himself for the services of his zone as Senator come 2019.

A letter of expression of interest he personally signed and sent to the Governor of Enugu state, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, penultimate week, captured the above position better.

"My leader, it is with special pleasure, honour and a deep sense of humility that I write you this letter to formally declare my intention to contest for the position of Senator, representing Enugu North in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections, by the special grace of the Almighty"; he told the Governor.

"Your Excellency, with a heritage of dedication to service, I will strive to lead Enugu North Senatorial Zone to the Canaan of their dreams; by tapping our vast potentials and making the most of our limited resources"; Chief Eya wrote in the letter.

In all these and in my thinking, the first winner is not Chief Eya, but the youth groups that prevailed on him to declare and be elected to serve the collective interest of our great people.

Those groups are the champion of democracy as the system belongs to the people. It is on their stead democracy is fashioned. And on their stead it is run. So they own the final say here.

Meanwhile, the second runner-up here is chief Chinedu Eya, the Ohamadike Ndigbo 1 na Nsukka, who out of his tight schedule, following his chain of businesses, attended to these groups in all honesty, humility, as well as patience. And finally, bowed to their pressure.
However, I do not have an iota of doubt Chief Eya would lift our zone to an enviable height as he already made a major statement in the body of his address to the Governor when he alluded to the pervading reason why the people opted for him.

"I believe this is not for anything else, rather than the affection and good intents of our people to enjoy the dividends of the system; which is however the beauty of democracy"; he noted.

Meanwhile, as Chief Eya once thought me during a conversation when he Quoted Harvey S. Firestone saying, "The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership"; I wish him luck as he moves to develop and transform our people into a firmidable force in the comity of constituencies across the country come 2019.

Education / NOUN, FRCN Partner On Journalism Practicals by chi2054real: 3:02pm On Apr 30, 2018
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has entered into partnership with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), for the use of the latter’s studios and other equipment across Nigeria for practicals by NOUN’s mass communication students.

NOUN was impressed with the world class broadcast equipment being used by FRCN to reach millions of Nigerians in different locations, hoping that its students would take advantage of the equipment and years of global experience of FRCN and its staff to acquire hands-on knowledge.

The deal was sealed in Abuja when the management of NOUN led by its Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman.

The VC told the FRCN management that practical is a critical component to the study of mass communication, and its BMAS (Benchmark Minimum Academic Standard) demand a practical exposure of the students.

He said that securing a place for the students to undertake practicals in the course of their study is central to the accreditation requirements of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

“You can imagine three to four thousand students in mass communication department across our campuses, where will they go and do practicals? And we don’t have a laboratory. A thought came that there are laboratories in FRCN and NTA offices across Nigeria and that was why we approached you,” he said.

Adamu added that NOUN has a student population of over 421,000 who are unevenly distributed across the country, pointing out that the national spread of the FRCN would enable them access ready studios for practicals easily.

The Vice Chancellor assured students that the partnership was not expected to add more financial burden on the students but to expose them to the practical rudiments of their profession.

Adamu, at the end of the discussion, presented a draft memorandum of understanding on the proposed partnership to the FRCN DG.

The FRCN DG in his response, expressed the willingness of the corporation to partner with NOUN, saying it was within its purvey to discharge such responsibility.

“We are already making available our facilities to journalism students across the country for practicals as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He promised that his management team would critically examine the proposal with the purpose of implementation.

Politics / *PDP Chieftain Tackles Enugu Senator Over Car Donation To Governor* by chi2054real: 12:44am On Apr 29, 2018
A Peoples Democratic Party Chieftain, **Chief Chinedu Eya **has described as “poor and embarrassing” the donation of a Bus to the Gburugbu re-election campaign team by Senator Chuka Utazi, representing Enugu North Senatorial zone, during the Party’s zonal meeting held on the 14th of April, 2018.

Chief Eya who wondered how a Senator who is roundly criticized for lack of a single project across Enugu North Senatorial zone could think donating a “rickety vehicle” to the Governor’s re-election bid will save him from been beating-silly during the Party’s primary elections coming soon.

In a statement by his media aid, Gwiyi Solomon, the PDP top shot maintained that as a state-wide initiator of “No Vacancy in the Lion Building, Gburugburu till 2023” he would support every step aimed at returning the Governor in 2019.
The party chieftain said he was taken aback on why a Senator who is yet to account for over a billion naira accruing to the zone as both constituency projects and running cost will suddenly appear at the party’s zonal meeting with a “rickety car to curry favour from the Governor.”
“This is a Senator who has been roundly accused by Youths of not citing a single project in the zone. Does he think buying a rickety vehicle will save him from been beaten silly during our primary election? He must know he cannot curry favour from the Governor with one rickety car,” the statement quoted Eya as saying.
Chief Eya challenged the Senator to stop chasing after vain glory and name his projects across the zone as demanded by the concerned youths as that would be the yardstick upon which next candidate of the Party would be determined.

He bemoaned what he described as an open diatribe against the personage of the Governor by the Senator a few weeks ago in Uzo-Uwani Local Government area, where he openly and flagrantly begged governor Ugwuanyi to back his candidature in 2019, so that he (Utazi) would pay him (Governor Ugwuanyi) back by becoming his campaign manager as a Senatorial aspirant in 2023.
The PDP chieftain upheld that if Utazi has been working for his zone within the period he has been parading himself as senator, he wouldn’t have had any reason to beg the Governor to assist him ascend to power again in 2019 as his projects would have spoken for and possibly returned him senator in 2019 unchallenged.

Celebrities / Chief Eya @ 38: The Eagle Has Landed by chi2054real: 12:13am On Apr 29, 2018
“If I were an animal, I would be an Eagle”, said Jamie Foxx.
Eagles are the most idolized and prized among the birds of the air. It is their king in splendour, by consensus, mysticism and a king by strength and authority.
“I believe in reincarnation. In my last life I was a peasant. Next time around, I would like to be an Eagle who hasn’t dreamt they could fly? They are a protected species, too”, said Lee Trevino.
The above quote from Trevino gives us a lot of takeaways; but for the purpose of this work, I will discuss only one – and it is the fact that an Eagle does not dream of flying. But it then, flies when the time is ripe for it to do so.
Just as a lion does not learn to roar but roars when time dictates same, flying is an inbuilt and inherent trait of an Eagle. Royalty and power exude from its daily craving without it making a single effort.
“You can put wings on a pig, but you don’t make it an Eagle”, says William J. Clinton.
This is where I present to you, now “Chief Chinedu Eya”, who many years ago was commonly called “Chinedu” without Suffixes of either “chief” or “Honourable.”
He was born like every other Nigerian who never tested silver spoons and an inheritance of fat cash in Swiss accounts. Neither did he receive properties running into millions like most privileged Nigerians from his father.
Addressing his daughter a few days ago, during her birthday, Chief Eya broke down in tears, recalling how he passed through the thick and thin to emerge the force he has become today.
“13years ago, it was almost impossible to raise 4,000 naira to get you out from Hospital after you peacefully came into the world”, chief Eya narrated.
“Your dad was hungry so that you can now eat; Your dad was without shelter to put over your head; Your dad trekked miles to survive; Your dad kept several hours on his knees with God to settle your future; Your dad cried several Nights and took insults to save your dignity.”
That was chief Eya pouring his heart out in remembrance of yesterday when things were not looking like it.
His was a story couched in hard work, strong conviction, unfettered determination, unwavering courage, unflinching vision, undaunted sagacity and unruffled commitment.
Chief Eya’s story is a message of hope that whatever God has said must come to past, if we wary not. It is an inspirational message that God is able and all things possible through Christ.
Yet, there is one central message buried in the heart of his story – he never forgot he was an Eagle. So he retained his wings as a big bird, even in the midst of extreme difficulty.
“You cannot fly like an Eagle with the wings of a wren”, said William Henry Hudson.
Today, at 38: the Eagle has landed; blowing hot across Enugu North with very rich credentials – character, energy, philanthropy and human face.

At 38: Chinedu has a business conglomerate of Prices Gift platinum Ltd, R Mark Schmidt Consultancy Ltd and Eya. Ng Ltd.
He is also the National Convener of “Why it must be PDP in 2019” (WIMBPDP2019) as well as the state wide Initiator of “No Vacancy in the Lion Building, Gburugburu till 2023” and so many other ventures time will not permit us to mention here.

As chief Eya marks his 38 birthday on the 18th April, 2018, and as the pressure for him to declare for Senate continues renting the air, I can only wish him many more years ahead.
Gwiyi Solomon Is a Media Assistant to Hon. Chinedu Eya. He wrote from Enugu.

“To the best of my knowledge, the first time I met Cee-c was when I spoke to her on stage during the show.

“The reason I didn’t debunk it was because I wanted it to die naturally. It was a very stupid rumour and I didn’t want to give life.”

“I think she has crush on me. But I don’t know what else she has on her head. I’ve never spoken to her except while in the house when I was doing my job.”

Now, to paint him a liar, Nigerians have digged up, and leaked a photo of Ebuka interviewing CeeC during her “pageant” days.

Celebrities / Two Catholic Priests Were Murdered By Fulani Herdsmenthis Morning by chi2054real: 10:17pm On Apr 27, 2018
The catholic diocese of Markurdi has confirmed the death of two priests, Rev. Fr. Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha after the attack on St. Ignatius Quasi Parish by Fulani Herdsmen in the early hours of this morning, April 24, at the Mbalom village of St. Ignatius Quasi Parish Ukpor-Mbalom.

According to the report by the Director of Communications at the Markudi Diocese said:

In their classic style they burn down homes, destroy food items and kill. The police seem to know nothing of the attacks which have been going on in other villages within Benue State since the Anti Open Grazing Law came into effect last year.

Many people are asking why the International community has remained silent over the massacre of Benue citizens? The answer is simple: It has been the goal of the jihadists to conquer Benue and Tiv people who resisted their advance into the middle belt since 1804; the people who rejected Islam and fought for the unification of Nigeria in the civil war of 1967 – 1970.

The people of the East therefore have little sympathy for Benue people and the Muslim North is enjoying a sweet revenge overshadowed by an insensitive regime. There were over 170.000 internally displaced persons before the Naka invasion and surely with the current situation in Mbalom Benue will be flooded with thousands more.

What cannot be said at this point is the consequences of the death of missionaries in the silent killings that have been siloed by the government for over a year.

The diocese has been active in providing relief materials including education and skills acquisition lessons. To go for the priests means total destruction of everything we stand for and believe in!

Politics / Nigerians React To Buhari’s Comments That ‘youths Are Lazy’ by chi2054real: 8:51pm On Apr 19, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has come under attack over his comment about young people in Nigeria .
Buhari, speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster on Wednesday, said youths prefer to do nothing because they feel Nigeria is an oil-rich nation.
According to Buhari, a lot of Nigerian youths have not been to school, yet they want everything free.
This did not go down well with some Nigerians on social media as they are of the opinion the the president should not be re-elected in 2019.
Here are some comments gathered from Twitter:
@sirlilijosh, “President Buhari said Nigerian youth do not go to school but want free basic necessities of life. Commonwealth should choose a place and time, Nigerian youth will bring their school certificates and our president should bring his too.”
@Onblood_ “Buhari doesn’t have a university degree or even Waec certificate and education was almost free and top quality back then and he has the nerve to talk about Nigerians being lazy.”
@Chydee “Buhari is right. Nigerian youths are lazy. If you think he’s wrong, make sure he does not return in 2019.”
@crowtherajayi “We have gone through rigorous training both online and physical. They initially promised to fund our businesses but they now want to back out calling us lazy. We are not LAZY!
@pstgospelLinus “Don’t worry come 2019, the same youths that are lazy and not educated will vote you out.”
@Smartemuobor “Come to Lagos traffic and see youths Hawking in hot sun and rain just to live. What do your children do for living?
@Kendragon101, “I don’t agree. Nigerian youths are among the most hardworking in the world, it’s the government that has failed to provide an enabling environment. Na wa o, I have never seen a president who hates Nigerians so much.”

Politics / 13 Nigerian Soldiers Die In Operation Cat Race by chi2054real: 8:41am On Apr 19, 2018
Thirteen soldiers have died in Operation Ayem Akpatuma (Cat Race) in Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Taraba and Kaduna States, Defence Headquarters has said.

Seven were injured.

Director of Defence Information Brig.-Gen. John Agim, who addressed reporters yesterday, said 147 herdsmen were arrested and handed over to the police.

Gen. Agim said there should be more understanding and support for the military, adding that because of enormous work, the military is over stretched.

He said: “We have a situation at hand; there is military presence in all the 36 states, particularly in some state capitals, to support the police to maintain peace and attract investors.

“But the truth is that we don’t have barracks in some places and in the hinterlands. If there is trouble in parts of the hinterlands, it would be difficult to move soldiers there because of distance. So largely we depend on intelligence reports to respond to situations. So some things happened in some places and people asked where the military was. We cannot be everywhere given the limited resources.”

Agim added that due to logistic problems, Operation Ayem Akpatuma could not be extended in some states, except for Taraba, though there are pockets of security threats and clashes in some of the communities.

According to him, the operation was largely successful as 183 criminals were arrested in Benue and Taraba States.

He said: “In Benue State, 147 herdsmen, six cultists, five rustlers and six armed bandits were arrested, while 15 were arrested in Taraba State.

“In 1 Division Area of Responsibility, 13 bandits were arrested and have been handed over to the police for further action.

“Several arms and ammunitions were also recovered. In Benue State, one AK-47 rifle, one FN rifle; three AK-47 rifle magazines; nine rounds of 7.62mm special; 23 rounds of 7.62mm NATO; 13 Dane guns; 38 machetes, several spears/axes and assorted charms, 18 motorcycles and 15 mobile phones were recovered.

“In Taraba state, four AK-47 riffles with three magazines; 96 rounds of 7.62mm special; eight rounds of 9mm, and 19 locally-made guns were recovered.

“Others include five locally-made pistols, one Shot gun and 27 live cartridges. In 1 Div Area of Responsibility, 16 assorted arms were recovered and some ammunitions.”

Business / Lagos Businesswoman, Her Teenage, Maid And Houseboy Died As Fire Razes Building by chi2054real: 8:22am On Apr 19, 2018
According to a report by Punch Metro, sympathisers thronged Alade Close, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday after an early morning fire claimed the lives of a middle-aged businesswoman, her teenage maid and houseboy.

The deceased lived in a two-bedroomed apartment on the top floor of a one-storeyed building on the close.

Punch Metro reports that the woman’s husband and their daughter escaped from the fire, which started around 2am from their living room and spread to another two-bedroomed flat on the floor, whose occupants escaped unhurt.

Although the cause of the fire had yet to be officially determined, some residents claimed that it was caused by an electrical surge.

It was learnt that the houseboy, identified only Nonso, had wanted to use the toilet when he met fire burning in the living room and raised the alarm.

The couple were said to have fled downstairs with their child while Nonso battled to rescue the housemaid, who was trapped in the inferno.

Punch Metro reports that when the woman did not see the domestic helps, who were said to be her relations, she returned to the apartment in a desperate attempt to rescue them.

The three of them were thereafter trapped, as residents and men from the Lagos State Fire Service and the state emergency management agency fought to put out the raging fire.

During a visit to the scene of the incident, Punch Metro observed that the roof of the building and several household items had been razed.

A Toyota Camry and a Lexus RX 300 reportedly owned by the couple were parked outside the residence.

Grief filled the vicinity, as relatives and neighbours of the victims thronged to the scene, lamenting the incident.

Most of them approached Punch Metro said they were too distraught to speak on the tragedy.

However, a resident, who lives near the affected house, said he was woken up by a distress call from the house and rushed out to assist in extinguishing the fire.

The eyewitness, who did not want his name in print, said the three corpses were brought out from the flat around 5am after the fire had been put out.

He said Nonso had just returned from his village in the eastern part of the country to deposit his late father in a morgue, adding that he was the only son of his parents.

He said, “The man was a customs officer while his wife worked with the Federal Road Safety Corps, but I do not know their names. I only know Nonso, their houseboy. The woman also has a big shop at Alade Market.

“The fire started around 2am. People said the fire was caused by an electrical surge. The man escaped with his daughter. When they got downstairs and noticed that the domestic helps were still in the apartment, his wife returned to look for them. But by the time she got upstairs, smoke had filled everywhere.

Politics / Nobody Will Read My Biography Because Of My Past-babangida by chi2054real: 11:02pm On Apr 18, 2018
A former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida, says Nigerians no longer take him seriously because he annulled the June 12,1993 Presidential election adjudgedas the most credible election in the history of Nigeria.
Babangida said this during a programme on Channels Television titled, ‘Roadmap 2019’ on Monday. When asked if he would publish his biography soon to tell his story, Babangida said nobody would read it because of his past.

When asked to explain further if it was true that people dismissed his words because of the annulment of June 12 election, he said, “That is right. They say, ‘he cancelled the freest election in the history but he annulled it’ but nobody gives me credit for conducting the freest election in the country.” The former maximum ruler said he was hopeful that the younger generation would understand why he annulled the election.

He added, “We try to rationalise why we did what we did but nobody is prepared to listen to us. So, it is a matter of time. One day, the younger generation will say they have heard one side and want to hear the other side of the story. “Maybe by then we will have a better society that is prepared; that is well-informed of what happened within a period of their existence. They will then be able to say this is the true story.”

Politics / Why Must Olisha Metuh Suffer This Fate? Why Must Nigeria PDP Face Such? by chi2054real: 3:20pm On Mar 18, 2018
Press Release

We Demand Investigation Into Interference In Metun's Trial

We have continued to monitor the wicked plots by the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Presidency in their desperation to elevate the media trial in camouflaging their obvious interest in the on-going trial of the formal National Publicity Secretary of our great party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh.

Of late is the statement by the APC UK Chapter, wherein they alleged that Chief Metuh is playing 'Nollywood drama' in court by claiming to be seriously ill.

One is shocked that the same persons, who are well aware that Chief Metuh had pleaded to the court that EFCC be allowed to independently examine his state of health and report to the court, could make such mischievous claim.

The only deduction here is the apparent quickness of the APC to push their desire to discredit and mock a man who is only obeying the orders and rulings of a court.

The Question here for members of APC UK is whether the treatment of Chief Olisa Metuh, in his trial, can be obtainable in their country of residence.

For instance does it take two months in the UK for a court to give a ruling on an application by an accused person to be allowed to go for medical treatment, especially when accompanied by affidavit of urgency?

Is it obtainable in the UK that a court can give an order compelling a sick person in an intensive care unit of a recognized hospital to be brought to court in any condition whatsoever?
It is also obtainable in the UK that a court can give an order barring any medical doctor or hospital in the country from issuing a medical report to a defendant in admission in their facility?

Is it proper that an accused, who has spinal chord injuries, should be refused an application to get quick medical relief after spending several hours in court under excruciating pain?

Furthermore, we want to ask the APC UK, whether in the country of their residence, an accused person, who has been ordered not to tender any medical report from any doctor or hospital in the country, can still be challenged for not bringing his evidence of his ill health to the court?

It is obvious that the conduct of the proceedings this case appeared designed to favor the APC to come up with suck mockery, otherwise, any reasonable person will be more concerned about the travails and tribulations of a man who is merely obeying court orders.

In conclusion, we are really worried about the coincidence and the timing of such court orders and the mockery of Chief Metuh's humiliations and tribulations by the Presidency and the APC right from his being paraded in handcuffs like a common and notorious criminal at the commencement of the trial.

We therefore call on the leadership of the judiciary to conduct a full investigation as to correlation between the happenings in court in this matter and interference and interests of the Presidency and the APC.
