Same process, only you have to fill up form online make payment as renewal, indicating reason for and place for the renewal of the passport. Then submit to your closest Nigerian embassy (if you are outside Nigeria) or to Nigerian immigration center in your state.

You will need to attend short courses at NIMASA (Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency) approved training centers

for example locations in Lagos. These include :

- Coastal Maritime Academy,

- Matral Maritime Training Centre,

- the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology.

Additionally, IZISCO Obosco Institute of Marine Studies and Technology and Elkins Marine International are also NIMASA-approved
institutions in Lagos, according to a list of approved institutions.

On those centers you can obtain all required STCW Certificates and documents as mentioned.

Want to work offshore or onboard merchant ship but don’t know where to start?

Start with the basics — your documents.
Without these, recruiters won’t even consider you.

Here’s the bare minimum you need:

1️⃣ Passport
✔️ Valid for at least 6 more months.
No passport = no job.

Oiler can convert to AB, but the sea experience as oiler will not count on while upgrading to officers rank. AB will need 36 months of sea experience before upgrading to 4th/3rd class officer. Same goes to Oiler working with the engineers.

Reissuing. But note; Your passport remains on the immigration officer system. They might ask you to provide the old one or police report when issuing another one. While filling the passport form online, make sure all name matches the old one. If not, it will show as if you are trying to manipulate the system.

Use your B.engine properly. Convert to maritime, on maritime industry lots of demands for engineers. With M .eng on chemical engineering, oil and gas offshore job is easy to get. Just need little courses as per international maritime organization( IMO ) rules.
