I am in absolute shock reading this story...

This is way beyond impunity and mindless murder, without a doubt the killer cops must be brought to justice as a deterrent!

You should be taking this case up with the Nigerian Police or the insurance company if indeed he paid for one for the trip.

Really saddening that a union that is supposed to bring companionship and subsequent love is being turned inside out...

My advise as follows

1) you need to avoid/minimize things that would trigger your husband(arguments, facebook posts etc) for your health and baby's sake.

2) keep your wits around you and start to network.. you read mass comm, do you guys have an association you can join and contribute?
You can also join a group in your local church and be very active

3) avoid discussing your marital woes with people, except maybe with a counsellor or a pastor, any other person might compound with wrong advise

4) you need to plan to get a job once u give birth and wean your baby.

5) all the above is designed to give you room to achieve some bit of financial independence

Once u achieve a bit of point 5 and he still misbehaves, u need to try separation for the time being, your life is more important!

One of the biggest posers for the nollywood industry is why the female actresses live in opulence whilst reverse is the case for their Male folks...

Anyway, the Male actors should endeavour to be "small boys with big gods" too..

Seems that's the secret!

Owing a house is not vanity but it shouldn't be placed above owing a viable income source or liquid investment. By liquid, I mean, investments you can easily turn to cash/withdraw. A personal home is not an investment. It appears like a money-saving strategy, but it barely saves anything.

These people’s situation is likely the kind where they once had a job and the building was going on at the time....or a case of inherited building...u don’t know how it is when u are building a place and suddenly loose ur job...most of the time some people just pack into the home halfway built
One of the things that quickly give u stability is having a place to lay ur head with ur kids...after all the lady says she still hustle and gets something from time to time.. I’m not saying stabilizing their source of income isn’t essential.
But someone that doesn’t have a t gulag income stream can’t pay rent... it will eventually lead to case of being thrown out..

Your point is also valid, but the fact remains that the funds she gave to her hubby to add to the personal project should have been used to stabilise their income first..
Personal project does not put food on the table.
My advise is to either sell the "personal project" and stabilise their income with the proceeds of the sale by setting up a biz or borrow from family and friends to set up (2nd option because it is quite difficult to borrow money from people these days)

I completely share your opinion on this issue and it really baffles me that people would spend so much to put up shanties just to be called "landlords"
Your example using mutual funds is also apt..

Even if it's just 1m she gave her husband to add up to their personal project, 350k (or even less) can serve for an apartment and the rest goes into a form of business to sustain the family..

We really need to change this narrative that makes people believe that once you build a house, almost all your problems are solved..

The shoddy way the police handle investigations if you are a "nobody" in the society is really appalling...
