Your Structural Engineer is Correct! All you need is a good Concrete mix ratio and a Good Iron Bender who is Experienced to handle the reinforcement steel. Most especially the stirrup need to have a Hook to hold the 16mm Rods in the pillars to withstand Load Bearing.

I do not support additional floor(s) during construction stage without structural redesign and checks to confirm the suitability of the members.
However since this floor is to support the solar panels only , you don’t need 20mm bars for the columns, instead use 16mm as your second to roof level columns reinforcements and also ensure that you stiffen the panels with reinforced concrete beams.
Let your structural engineer design the roof slab and beam, the thickness of your slab should be at least 150mm (6inches) or as designed by the engineer.

Since you have a structural engineer, ask that he re-run the design and analysis to ensure it works, have him give you another drawing detailing the roof slab.
Also, you seem perturbed by the diameter of the steel reinforcement bars but the dimensions of the columns also plays a part. Thank you. We are at the second deck now so would be pretty difficult to change anything. My engineer is actually saying we should go ahead and that we do not need to change anything. |

Good afternoon everyone.
I would like to seek opinions from esteemed members and building experts here.
I am currently building a 2 storey(3 floor) house with about 40 pillars: The structural design stated 16mm rods for pillar reinforcement and we are adhering to it.
However, I have decided to change the roof design from an aluminum roof to a concrete slab(deck) roof for asthetics purposes and most importantly because I want to fill the entire roof with solar panels and we want to be able to move around it easily and clean them regularly.
Now my question is, do I need to add extra reinforcements for the structure to be able to take the roof slab? My structural engineer says a 4 inch roof slab will suffice and I do not need to add extra reinforcements. I am wondering if we should have just used 20mm rods for the pillars from the beginning.
Does anyone have an idea if the 16mm pillars will suffice to carry the additional load?

I have no grouse with him. I do not plan to even patronize online vendors on Nairaland anymore. A brick and motar shop is a better option. A proper apology would have sufficed weeks ago but he choose to drag the matter on and continue to run his mouth and call me names on Nairaland forgetting that some people have time and energy and can go all out to right a wrong. I think its now obvious that @chichilas is definitely up to something. Virtually every issue you have raised concerning the cable "has" been resolved, yet here we are with another issue that happened 2019 or so. If you are dissatisfied with his job before, will you still have the confidence to engage him again? I have had transactions with @zeestone totally more than 4million naira (without seeing each other) and I have not had any cause to be worried as he always delivers. So pls @chichilas, can you propose want you really want so as to stop this tirade. I have three questions for you. 1- how do you know every issue has been resolved? Because he said so? Did you miss the part where I said they sent two pieces of cable each 9 feet. They couldn’t even send one length, they had to send pieces. We bought another 7 yards here in Benin to be able to get 100 yards total which was what I paid him for in the first place. 2- That he sent me additional cable, does that stop or prevent me from leaving a disclaimer or sharing my experiences how/when I deem fit? 3- have you heard the quote “last straw that broke the camels back? That I stuck with him doesn’t invalidate my current complaints. Virtually everyone who has worked in my house in Benin came from Nairaland. Including my automatic gate and sensors. It's 4 weeks now @chichilas wrote a defamation of character review on google that
1) I stole his cable
2) I damaged his roof
I will like to update the house that he has received additional cables since 3wks ago, was called and he confirmed he received his cable
Secondly he never told me anything about a leaking roof since around 2019 we installed for him. There have been several modifications on the said installation by other installers which I have also offered support remotely. We have spoken several times on the phone nothing of a leaking roof was mentioned.
He suddenly remembers his roof is leaking towards the end of 2023. No evidence and nothing.
Since he still have issues with the cables, I have since then requested he sends the cables back to us and get a refund which he is unwilling to do and I don't know why.
@chichillas also @theoilguy is very toxic and I don't wish to do business with him furthermore.
Tell him to pull down his false review. I did not steal his cable and did not damage his roof.
I hope nairaland mods will one day do something about defamation of character.

me don arrest person before. Someone I have patronized for years, even when he moved to a different state. The last time I travelled down to buy something, I bought more than I needed, just so I don't travel back agaiin. Due to how long I've known him, didn't bother overChecking things. When I finally found out all were rubbish, I complained thinking He would be understanding, and agree to change them. I myself would just have to again transport myself to his place again. Oga initially tried dribling me but when I saw what He was doing, I asked for refund, and that I would bring them back, even though that meant I would spend over half of the money on transportation. Hhe made it clear that if I come to his shop, he would use taskForce to arrest me.
Anyway, I felt bitter and when I feel such way, I don't often mind spending 100 naira to recover 10 naira.
Cost of transportation was more than half of the cost of the item. But I didn't mind. I spent twice cost of the items to get him arrrested, ensured He paid me my cost of transportation both for my previous coming and current coming to his shop; also ensured he Paid me my money 100% + the extras I spent in getting the taskForce, and a little token for my inconvenience. this is after he got a series of beatings from same taskForce he threatened me with.
If you have been to Arena, you go know say na millitary people dey there. I only asked they look into the issue to determine who was wrong. I even asked the seller to call 2 or more people who know about electronics to come be a neutral judge. When they came, the taskForce people ensured they didn't know the seller was at the mercy of their response else maybe those ones would havve tried taking side.
Now when you consider all the Seller went through, and what it cost him, you would understand say most times, simple word "SORRY" and your willingness to make amends is very cheap irrespective of wether you end up looking weak or not. Some of us no too normal. Me no sabi wahala and I'm so quiet it's easy taking me for a ride.
why I am saying these things is - atimes we do any how since we believe the customer doesn't know us or is far from us. Nothing like ensuring peace with others. Myself don't mind making peace with you even at ma own detriment. of course I ensure there would be no chance of a repeat. this person you dey talk to any how, irrespective of if he's actually at fault or not, might choose to take things far. Don't forget, your worst enemy is that one you don't know.
And while all this happens, we the audience is watching, learning, and taking notes of DEALERs to avoid or be super careful with Zeestone of Mazine group is an uncouth fellow. I doubt he went to school, else he won’t be running his mouth to his customer he knows can lock him up with a single phone call. I have been away from this thread for only two days and a lot has gone down.
My problem with most Nigerian vendors is that they treat customers the same way bus conductors treat passengers. They only value one when you're outside their buses, once you enter and money changes hands, they treat you like trash.
When I have the time, I will share my experience dealing with vendors on this thread. Bro you need to share. The reason why sellers in the developed world always try to do right by their customers is because a white person would not shy away from a review. They do not care who or what company. They would let the world know their experiences. This helps sellers sit up and act right and this helps buyers choose whom they would deal with. Thousands of people are viewing this thread and those who choose to continue to deal with him will do it with caution so they don’t get duped by Zeestone. That is my aim.. This cables he's complaining about, he called me and I told him I will call a friend that have 4 core. I specifically told him I don't have it and we agreed I should ask a friend.
My friend sent him the 1st one. He said it's not complete and they have buried it already so there's no way to measure.
So he ordered another. My friend said he would only cut the cable in my presence, I don't have that time so I sent one of my boys. They measured in his presence and he confirmed 50yards plus small jara.
Cable was sent to benin on Sunday.
This Benin man called yesterday that cable is not complete, shouting on the phone blablabla. I told him to hold on.
I called my friend y he didn't cut complete cable, he responded that I should ask my boy that it was in his presence they cut this cable.
I called my boi and he said they cut 50yards plus jara in his presence.
I reverted to Benin man that they cut complete cable from here and my boi is also confirming it. He flared up and started shouting this is the second time and he's sending it back to Lagos. I told him to hold on. Called my boi and my friend again and they said they sent 50 yards complete. I called oga back and he said I'm cheating him and he would call me out on nairaland.
So here we are. In as much as u are a customer, u can always dialogue man to man and resolve issues, I won't tolerate you shouting on me and calling me names cos of one small misunderstanding that can be resolved with simple " what do think we can do now".
These are the issues. This bini man will frustrate you this urhobo man online. Every advert you post will be followed with my disclaimer. You get boy? Nor be the alaba shop boy send the cable direct? You did not send anyone to the shop. Quit lying. Something you did not see with your eye, you are blabbing.. Did you witness the measurement? Did I not ask you to specifically measure my cable before sending it? |

This is even shocking to me too. I treat my customers well, I replace defective product and accessories free. Some will tell me we will settle when next they order, we jst do plus and minus.
I expected we could sort it out amicably and very easy cos he's an old customer but I was wrong.

Very bad business ethics. Customer satisfaction should be a big part of your business philosophy for long term survival and success. The customer already made his concerns known before ordering based on previous order. You should have told him the truth that you have no control the cable length as you are a vendor or tell him the actual length of a labelled 100 yard cable is actually 80 yards. I know that is the standard practice among those alaba international sellers.
Even after the customer complaint you should have simply apologised and offer to refund the extra N20k. This would have made him happy and a repeat customer. You have now only now lost a long term customer but also businesses he would have brought you in future, all because of N20k.
Thank you sir. This matter was pretty straight forward. It happened twice in 4 days. Why did I not run to Nairaland the first time it happened? It is the fact that Zeestone can be rude, uncouth, arrogant over a customer’s legitimate claim is my grouse and why I ll see this to any length. 2 Likes |

My experience with Zeestone 99 was great. He demonstrated an apt knowledge of what he is selling and even replaced the item when i complained about it scratched by the despatch. I had a good customer service with him even though we have not met.

I am doing what I like: online vendors need to know that they can loose much more than what they are trying to steal from their customers and that is their reputation. This is a guy I have been dealing with for 5 years. He has stayed in my house many times and I have hosted him. If I complain about an issue, shouldn’t he act better than to insult me over my money? How can someone order 200k worth of cables and I will now remove 20 yards and be accusing him falsely? Does that make sense? Most online vendors think they will get away with anything.
