baconline:No matter how the vehicle is brought in - once its on Nigerian soil, just let a FRSC official arrange the papers for you; they usually get the "customs" papers from the customs guys themselves. IF your importer does it for you, he will get "custom" papers that are not "registered" with the custom guys, hence the problems you have. |
@Sultaan The 4500 is actually 4500cc. Its a 3.0L Petrol Engine SUV. You are right, its a 6Cyl. Big body, would be great as diesel though. |
@George_D You're alright. Safety is very key and thats what this thread is about. But its very key for you to also know that in the business world - Its mostly never about the morals, its sabotage, its greed, its conspiracy, its about the money (remember I said mostly). Thats why with everything BBC is doing, with all the Cancer cases, the tobacco companies are still making and selling to youngsters, even when it was aired openely that the retailers link the supplies and sales directly to the manufacturers. Some of us actually know what we are saying, we didnt just pick it from no where; same reason why the BBC guy was not allowed into the Nigerian Tobacco company office (It was live on air in the documentary) - there are laws BUT money, greed, sabotage, conspiracy always play their role. Look at the generator importation and manufacturing industry for instance - its no doubt a multi-billion dollar industry - on the other hand look at our NEPA/PHCN, our Power industry - Greed, conspiracy, money, sabotage, thats why you know that had better be a generator in every apartment (or mostly these days 2 or more per house). Like I said, you're ok - Just that you need to know. Its greed, its conspiracy, its sabotage, its money and worse, its political and its competition |
@Ericomoto I have an infiniti QX4 that when I drive with AC on in a hold up, it starts overheating BUT that stops when I switch off the AC. What I now did was to buy a fan for the Condenser (Im assuming yours also did not come with one too); this fan will be placed in front of the condenser (You wil have to remove the front gril and the bonnet opener to place it then replace those back. It will be connected to the AC switch wire - this starts it anytime the AC is on. Infiniti is Nissan and the QX4 and Xterra are more or less the same. The overheating stopped immediatelyt the fan was installed. The fan costs only N2,500 (including transportation, so dont let them trick you) Very important tip: On installation, the fan can blow both ways depending on the connection of the positive and negative wires, the best and only efficient way is for the fan to blow air towards the condenser. One good way to test is this, on connection (You have to be there), hold a piece of paper in front of the fan, It should suck the paper inwards, and not blow it away. |
jp philips:@JP Phillips Someone needs to have a brain before he or she can be brainwashed ![]() |

Some of these mechanics can be terrible. They can get a gear that has been replaced from one customer and sell to you. I dont know how this works in Abuja, BUT in lagos there are scan places everywhere. Why dont you try another scan place, at least let them tell you what sensors are detected bad (IF ANY) and you can start from there BEFORE buying another gear. Sorry for the wahala. |
@dustydee Strictly my point of view from experience: The Gear problem could affect your engine IF you continue driving it . I would not advise you waste any more $ on that gear - Just change it. You can get a tokumbo for your exact model (Exact as in exact, not 02/03 or 03/04, get the exact manufacture year). Make sure the sensor tray that is there is not tampered with and that the replacement one will fitted - the gear itself and the sensor connectors connected too. Some mechanics overlook all those things and in the end you have a working gear BUT those gear indicator lights on the dash and gear knob side wont work/work well. After this step, then we can see whats going on with the engine side. |
@Sbm4Real Congratulations! Looks like its coming up and you are learning your car. So you dont have to dump the car afterall. Hope it turns out well on your feedback. ![]() |

@dustydee Its clear that the guy has the tool (sfx autoboss) but does not know how to interprete the codes (which makes him not very good for your diagnostics issues) - some tools have similar codes for someo errors while some have their own keys. Basically, you might help him by asking for the manual of the tool itself and then you can read up the codes and from the table set you will be able to interprete it yourself. Generally, I think the AT = Automatic Transmission, and the codes and your Engine code shows there are concerns in those parts. Why not let the house know what problems you are having withe vehicle in the first place; this might help in the toubleshooting. There also are other diagnostic centers (there is even one advertised on nairaland) where you can get people who can at least tell you what their computer says. Sultaan what do you say? |
@George_D Do you even have brains at all? My user ID cant log in due to software problems and I have reported it and its being worked on and Im using a different ID to contribute positively to help someone with his problems in the forum and you are talking about seun, and taking things kindly? Im not by any means on the same level as you are - considering a thread like this and all you have been posting; being to discourage the owner and not even a line on troubleshooting. I dont mean to be insultive BUT I dont deal with empties. Kindly let me have my space and contribute to what the poster has. Please mind your business and lets stick to the poster's issue here. You are not my business and I intend you understand that fact clearly. |
@Jp And the US "Bailout" what?, helps them? |
jp philips:Then they should have chosen a better cultured, more stable and less desperate state like Canada |
jp philips:Well said Bre. Its so glaring in some quarters that its a take over or go strategy BUT the Japanese giant wants to weather it through to rubb it in their face. The thing is that US is not the largest market for anything anymore (except for cheap drugs), so smart manufacturers and service providers are moving to the East, so is Toyota before all this and even at the moment. Whats even the use, its all credit anyways, guarranteed by what?, debt to the chinese and even japan too. BUT I like the Japanese giant's approach and attitude - its really rubbing it in their faces, people still dont see their brands - even though its on every google advert page. |
@Fhemmmy Cost analysis has to do with getting it through and off the production line to the factory lot. Shipping is market dependent, 3rd parties in advertisement and screening for dealerships with negotiated incentives and commissions. Fhemmmy, its called Packaging |
My other user name has that software problem BUT they are working on it. If it was multiple ID, I wont have told you its me. Intelligently. |
Dont even bother yourself, owners know its just a conspiracy. Its very unfortunate that Toyota has a plant in the US, that explains how they were able to infilterate and perpetuate the whole thing. For me, it only makes the American auto industry very very cheap. Toyota is better off shutting down its US operations and let people import. Afterall they have a car on almost every street in Nigeria and they dont own a plant here. |
@Fhemmmy I know you are in the car business. Please give us one complaint you have heard or overheard from anyone you know for real that has or drives one of those Toyota "Recalled" vehicles. Im asking because I have not heard from people that bought those vehicles brand new in Nigeria having any problems with ANY of those models. |
George_D:@George_D Ignorance is bliss , Its not your fault actually, its just your level. |
@Sultaan This is a very good job you have done man! |
@George_D I wonder what your "reality" is, your posts have no contribution to helping the vehicle's problems, its just all about discouraging the owner. You need to contribute intelligently. What do you even drive? By the way, this is Onwan. |
I really do not know what model of Nokia you are using BUT there is usually a problem with the in-built browser on Nokia, It has a mind of its own - EVEN on my Nokia E90, I couldnt use the browser, It only worked with Zain WAP or GPRS. But, just to be clear on the config; simply have the APN set to; web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net I do not think you need all those other parameters, they look like those "cheat" settings that could make their servers automatically shut your access down. So if you want MTN GPRS; reset your phone to its factory settings OR remove all those funny IP address parameters you have there and simply set the APN above and you are on. Cheers |
@ Coldguy1 All the pictures have been posted online already. Check the first page. |
You just look at this simple scenario; I now that half of all the cars, laptops, and stuff on this nairaland.com dont belong to the people posting them, BUT we know that once I snap your car, post it, get a buyer and its sold, AT LEAST 10,000.00 will come in, IF I DO THAT FOR 5 Cars in a month, I am moving, let alone other things. I met some ladies on the island the otherday, from tokunbo.com or so, they simply walk into a shop, snap things talk to the owner of the store, reach an agreement and walk away. NOW LOOK AT THIS PEOPLE, THINKING OF US IP AND OTHER STUFF, what do you call them, L.A.Z.Y. and WITHOUT FOCUS IN LIFE. If they are married, what do they tell their wives, what will they tell their kids. When will someone like me and you be able to get on ebay and buy and in 5 minutes we get a tracking number. Imagine seeing something as low as a watch strap for $15.00 and with all your money to buy 5 and send in, YOU CANNOT EVEN BUY ONE!! If you say you are a graduate and no job, GO TO HELL. If I drive out of my house and stop at ANY car shop along Ikorodu road and tell the owner I want 3% of any sale I pull BUT he represents me directly, AND I take pictures and come with my people for inspection ANYTIME and the car is mine at that time, YOU KNOW I HAVE A DEAL - AS LONG AS I AM NOT LEAVING THE LOT WITH THE CAR. AND, BY ALL THE POSSIBLE MEANS I HAVE SIMPLY BECOME A CAR DEALER. NAIRALAND IS EVEN FREE UNLIKE EBAY TO LIST YOUR GOODS AND NO COMMISSION ON SALES, SO WHY CANT THESE PEOPLE JUST LEAVE THEIR FREAKED OUT AND CROOKED WAYS AND BREATHE FRESH AIR FOR ONCE!!! !!!MAKE MONEY FROM THE INTERNET IN A VERY CLEAN AND DIRECT WAY, NOT COME UP WITH THINGS THAT WILL DAMAGE OUR NAMES AND MAKE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY VERY VERY UNSAFE. POSTER ITS NOT TOO LATE, IF YOU HAVE PAID FOR INTERNET FOR ONE MONTH, YOU CAN MAKE SOMETHING GOOD OUT OF IT FOR FREE, FUN AND ESTABLISHMENT, RATHER THAN PAVE AN EXPRESS WAY TO PRISON WITH THIS. PLEASE, PLEASE AND PLEASE, LISTEN TO ME!!! |
Here you go! You have the numbers; 01.821.4666, 080.9968.8292
