Bro, this is Nigerian politics, where every “strong” politician has one skeleton or another hidden in the cupboard. If the President pushes too far, ElRufai may decide to spill the beans and everything will scatter.

It was premeditated and pre-planned. Elrufai was saying it long before he handed over as governor that he would be taking a break and heading to Cairo to get a PhD. Tinubu deliberately lured him on stage to jettison his plans and then proceeded to betray him. They thought if they put an obscure "security report" tag on his head, he will be neutralized and will no longer fight back. They were wrong. It was the ultimate betrayal. Tinubu behaved like the father who involved himself in a fight between two sons and picked a side.

Those were the dangerous intrigues of politics, and it becomes even more troubling when you realize how close El Rufai and Nuhu Ribadu once were. Even if the President had an axe to grind with El Rufai, Ribadu should not have been the proxy through whom it was executed. Like I posted, it is politics and nothing divides brothers like the quest for influence, money and power.

Tinubu should have behaved like an elder statesman and not picked a side by allowing his appointees to use their office to begin to play politics from day one for their own ambitions. What was Ribadu and Gbajabiamila's contributions to Tinubu's victory in 2023? They sought to destroy Elrufai and think he wouldn't fight back in whatever way he chooses? In 2015 when the APC was being formed, Ribadu defected to PDP contested the gubernatorial elections and lost. In 2019, he defected back to APC, contested the gubernatorial primaries and was defeated by Binani by a landslide. He now thinks he's a political collusus because "daddy" is behind him.

Asiwaju erred on that matter, seriously and it was quite unusual of him to fight an ally. However, I cannot speak confidenyly on what I do not fully understand, because I may never know the whole truth..

Eyes have never seen the kind of fight that will erupt among Northern Politicians who all will be jostling to succeed President Tinubu in 2031. From Nuhu Ribadu to Nasir El Rufai, to Kashim Shettima, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Mohammed Umar Bago, Uba Sani and many others, the fight will sweet to watch from afar. Your theory was correct until 2023 when Peter Obi ran under an obscure LP and defeated Tinubu decisively in the South. Believe it or not, Tinubu only got 5.6m Northern votes because Elrufai kept singing on the need for Northerners to keep their word and return the favour, despite sceptism from some Northerners on the untrustworthy nature of Tinubu. Tinubu betraying Elrufai simply proved all sceptics right. It was an own goal and this is not even just because of the figure, Elrufai. It's the symbolism of the treachery. It is also the major reason why Kwankwaso didn't end up decamping to APC. Trust deficit and fear of betrayal.

If Buhari had foisted Osinbajo on the APC, Tinubu would have decamped to SDP and the entire SW would have moved along with him. You know it. The cries about the betrayal from the North will also be sang in the SW for generations yet unborn. Tinubu enjoyed support from the North due to principles but he shouldn't push his luck too far to think he can impose a leader on the North. No one can. It will be viewed with too much suspicion.

Obi was able to “win” in the South, especially the South East and parts of the South South, largely because of certain non-political sentimental patterns. Unfortunately for him, many of those factors have waned drastically. The only one still strongly persisting is the sentimental call for an Igbo presidency.
The youth appeal has reduced to near zero, while the religious bloc has largely been erased because the Muslim/Muslim ticket they revolted against has turned out to be merely a political exploration, rather than a religious arrangement. Also the claims that Obi was decent or incorruptible were effectively buried the day he joined Atiku, Amaechi, Aregbesola, and David Mark in the ADC.
The North also did not vote for Tinubu because they loved him or because they wanted to honour any so-called unwritten agreement, but because they were playing politics. I don’t need to go into details.
If Asiwaju had moved to the SDP, he would only have played the role of a spoiler and inadvertently aided Atiku’s victory.

Lol. When the time is nigh and Tinubu has betrayed Ribadu, you will be here to tell us it was influence of some Northerners or international pressures that denied Ribadu the chance. Thankfully, we will never find out. But assuming you are right, would Tinubu force the North to vote Ribadu? Would the Southwest have voted Osinbajo if Buhari foisted him on APC?

To answer your question; why do you think people prefer APC and PDP? It is because they both have structural coverage across the country. If Ribadu becomes the flag bearer of APC, with the backing of an incumbent Government, walahi, he will win. To your 2nd question, if PMB had supported PYO, he would have been voted for in the SouthWest, because they wouldn't have had a better choice in another political party with a wider or equal coverage.

Begging for the release of the release of Nnamdi Kanu is not the problem, after begging for his release, will they control his utterances after the release, because he can come out and start talking anyhow.

If only you know the intrigues that led to the breakdown of Tinubu/El Rufai relationship, it wasn't Asiwaju's alleged betrayer, but the influence of sone Northerners who saw Malam as a future threats to their aspirations.
There are 3 or 4 factors that can stop Ribadu in 2031:
1. The very unlikelihood of President Tinubu failing to win in 2027;
2. Atiku agreeing to work for Asiwaju in 2027 with the agreement of succeeding in 2031;
3. International pressures and interests; and
4. Above sll God Almighty.

There was no tension anywhere, it was El Rufai making a fool of himself. He should submit himself to the law and stop acting like he is a teenager. Running to BBC Hausa for preemptive talks won't prevent him from answering questions that bother on his stewardship while in office as Governor of Kaduna State.
