Who else feels like they have a stone tied to their vaginas? That place hurts no matter what I am doing, sitting standing, laughing, cough8ing. It hurts like hell. I have complained at the hospital and they said its because baby's head is down. Na so w go dey??
Abeg, I get one issue and I would like y'all's contribution. I and hubby work at Marina and our offices are 5mins apart so we basically go to work and return home together. The plan was to have LO registered in a Daycare close to my office, that's where most people with nursing mothers in my office complex use. We both close by 5pm so we would just pick her after closing and go home. That was the plan. Last month, hubby got a transfer order to resume at their Ikeja office in July. I don't have a car as hubby picks and drops me off at work. Since hubby is now going to Ikeja, that plan of registering LO in a Daycare close to my office is now going up in flames.
Plan B; My MIL called and said she would help me get someone. I did not tell my mom about this because we had a very scary experience with a maid when we were little so since then, my mom believes all maids are ***** so when my MIL said she would help me get someone, I did not know how to tell my mom about it because I know all hell would break loose. My MIL called on Sunday to say she has found a nice 17year old girl and she would be coming next week. I then called my mom to intimate her of this development and now my phone wont stop ringing. My Dad, aunts, Uncles, Cousins and everyone is calling to dissuade me from bringing the girl(their reason being she may be a witch and could harm I and my family ). I know their intentions are from a good place but how do they want me to cope. My family house is in Igando and we live in Okota. If my mom was closer, I would not even think twice about dropping my baby with her but the distance isn't feasible. She suggested dropping her on Monday and picking her on Friday . Like how is that even possible sef. Now one of my cousins is saying that she does not think a 17year old girl can watch a baby in such a way that I would be at rest, that instead we should get a nanny who resumes at 6:30am and closes by 6:30pm.
So mamas that have gone down this road before, how did you cope? Did you get a nanny? Did you register your baby in a creche? Can a 17year old girl not really take care of a baby? Did anyone here have any issues with their maids and how did they handle it? I just want to hear different opinions so I know the best course of action to take.
Your hubby can drop the car because is now based on need and you needed it most now but my concern is carrying a child in car seat from Island to Okota daily. What if the poor child becomes distress and require cuddling or feeding in a heavy traffic you might still need someone while commuting to work with your child.
Also you can put the child is a good creche closer to the house, then be using the car to commuting (Drop the child in the morning, close from work by 5pm and before 7pm you will be there to pick the child).
Also I advise you download google map to monitor traffic,,Always check for better routes before you leave from work so you can meet up early enough to pick your child.
Me i no buy the idea of bringing a live in 17 year old lady... I rather get a nanny from a reliable source that comes in the morning and leave in the evening
So several times I've tried coming around to share my Birth Story but catching one's breath with a newborn around is no mean feat. Anyways, here goes.
I was 42 weeks pregnant with suspected Macrosomia (big baby) and pregnancy-induced hypertension and there was no sign of spontaneous labour. Doctors discussed and induction and also asked me to consider having a CS because there was a good chance the induction might fail thereby leading to an emergency CS. Well, I was not about to make myself suffer twice and I told God that if the baby did not come on his own on or before the scheduled surgery date, then I was gonna accept that my own kind of supernatural delivery would involve going under the knife. Did I mention that I bought original hard copies of the Supernatural Childbirth books because I didn't want to be involved in piracy and so my prayers could be answered? Hehehe. My baby ended up being 3.7kg - not alarmingly big, CS might have been unnecessary but I do not regret going for that option just because either me or my enemy's baby could have ended up in distress after a failed induction. Double trauma.
My baby was born at General Hospital Gbagada. This part is gonna sound like whining o, make una no vex. The only good thing from that experience is that both my son and I are alive and well. For subsequent kids and by the grace of Almighty God, na to born them abroad o. I can't deal. Make I begin save up from now shebi? First off, there are no private wards, none at all. Everyone is placed in either of two maternity wards. If you like, be a Rocket Scientist with a PhD, you're gonna share room and facilities with everyone else. There's just one toilet and three bath stalls to 16 or 18 beds per ward and the floors are constantly wet. Throughout my stay there, I had to pee standing up and then rinse off my legs after, it was totally undignifying. There are no cots for babies, so you have to sleep in a narrow bed with a newborn by your side, not so bad if you're getting discharged the next day but when you have an extended stay after a surgery? Horrible. To make things worse, the mosquitoes are legendary! So you'd need one of those baby bed/net thingies thereby reducing further your own bed space. I didn't eat their meals so can't speak on that.
I was not expecting a luxurious 5-star stay but certainly didn't expect things to be so deplorable.
To the miracle of surgical birth. Was admitted the night before and shaved by a nurse. Woke up the next morning and was prepped for surgery. First, a catheter was inserted to drain urine. Chai! I didn't know this part before o. They chooked one thing in my urethra and I had to lug around a urine bag for a little over 24 hours. Yikes!
Waited my turn and was wheeled to the theater. Bent over a pillow and was injected in the spine, this was not as scary as I thought it'd be. I became numb from waist or somehwere, down to my feet. Next thing I felt was so kind of pressure and next thing I heard was, baby out! I was shown my precious little man and worked on. Surgery over. Was wheeled out and yup, no such thing as a recovery room in this place o. The area I was placed in is some kind of corridor or passage way. My husband came in, saw me, saw his baby and he came back while we chatted. I experienced uncontrollable shakes for some time after, maybe 30 minutes? That's normal though.
Ahhh, the first poop after childbirth. Chei, chei, chei!!! That's a topic for another day.
I was wheeled back to the ward and rested till the next morning when baby was finally brought to me and my new life as a mum began. We were made to get up to our feet that morning, less than 24 hours after surgery. Wow! that was tough ladies, I cannot lie. The good thing about it though is that your recovery is faster and nobody would even know you had a surgery cos you can walk up straight by the time you're discharged.
I'm grateful to God to begin the next phase of my life, I do not take his mercies and grace for granted. It is no orinary thing to bring forth new life and I pray for everyone here that we all shall receive our angels in good and perfect health. May we all deliver safely in Jesus name. Congrats dear. Really, Aka jehova na eme nma. The wonderful part is that the mother and child came out alive. God Wil help us with the degenerated rate of medical services in this country. Next time, just do what your heart is at peace with. If na abroad, save go born your pikin jeje...life no get duplicate. For me, I no go risk this one I am carrying now after so many trials, prayers and fasting. God will help us!!!

My heart weeps ...Could not sleep since I saw this news. May her soul rest in peace. I can remember the words of my husband when i had previous miscarriages. He said " We rather remain barren that having a pregnancy that will take your life". Whenever he makes such statement, i will become very angry and be asking " does it mean this man is happy i am having series of miscarriages?"....Overtime, it started becoming clearer that this man never meant bad. Last month my colleague lost his 4 month old pregnancy wife, Last week, my friend died in the course of delivery after 7 years of seeking for a child... During the burial, i keep questioning God - Is it a curse that you gave us women this task of child bearing? Carrying pregnancy for 9 months is a huge task, contraction pain is a pain that no one can ever imagine. And now after this journey, some of us will still not make it alive to enjoy the bundle of Joy you have given to us.....Up until now, I am yet to get an answer to this question.
I have come to term that in the midst of all this i will still have my anchor in God knowing that in all situation, he remains faithful. But I am pleading and asking God that may we never loose anyone again. The pregnancy that will take our lives will not come and the children that will cut our souls short will not come our dwelling place.
May God grant her eternal rest and keep the little child he left behind. Destiny can be make or mar as a result of who directs one , God will connect that little child to a woman that will connect his /her destiny in the right direction just as the Mother wished for her when she was in the womb.

michnib: I bought British Airways ticket for my family to El Paso Texas. While purchasing the ticket the British Airways attendant who sold the ticket stated that my daughter's ticket will be changed to infant and on seat for the return trip. She gave us a number to call prior to our return so they can ensure it is done. My wife gave birth and we called the number severally, the customer care directed us to American Airline, we called American Airline, the representative said we should speak to British airways. Then my wife called British Airway helpline again. When nothing was done she went to El Paso Airport but no british airways customer care office. So she kept on calling British Airways helplines (US and UK). I went to the Lagos Airport office and they said they cannot get it done, that I should call a number. I wasted my airtime. When I got angry they fixed it and gave me another ticket for my daughter.
Unknown that this was just the beginning of poor customer service. My wife called the US office to book our new born on her ticket so she can fly, after several delays they did and told her to call back in 48hrs. She called back and they posted her to call back again, she called back the following day and same thing happened but she insisted that they must tell her the fare price for the new born so she can pay before the travel date. After the struggle the customer representative gave her a fare price and said she has to go to Dallas airport to pay, that they do not accept payment online or via phone call.
So British Airways expects my wife and new born to travel 11hrs on road from El Paso to Dallas just to pay?
I tried paying from Lagos, they did not accept, I called all British Airways helpline I got but same story, until I argued on phone with one of their customer representative, who then went to the manager to find a solution and said that he will make another booking and give me a fare price but I will pay in Naira at any GTBank. He did it and I immediately went to a GTBank to pay.
I got the ticket in 24hrs and forwarded the mail to my wife.
On getting to the airport, the attendant said she cannot find any of our flight details on their system, he was jumping from one system to another and delayed my family. After about 45 minutes of holding our passports, he said he cannot check us in again that boarding gate is closed (meanwhile we still had 35 minutes more before the departure). My family missed their flight. Now British airways said we should pay $2500 to reschedule. Who does this?.
I WILL NOT ADVISE MY ENEMY TO FLY BRITISH AIRWAYS. IT IS ADVISABLE TO USE OTHER AIRLINES TO US, ESPECIALLY FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, BECAUSE OF THE STRESS TO GET YOUR NEW BORN ON THE TICKET.

kaakaa: I doubt they will call you for interview, bc you used the visa for what you got it for and when you later went for delivery, you told the cpb, so no they wont call you. You will have to explain to the cpb when you travel for vacation why you didn't complete your bill though, you can explain that you intend to sort it out on this journey as it was a discrepancy blablabla.
They might call you to show evidence of payment and and then zero balance....the probability is very high. Even if you use the visa for the purpose, why they are inviting you is to purposely confirm that you paid all your bills

@Belladsweet... I don't mean to scare you... I always registered for ANC at 6weeks. It was one of those early registration that my miscarriage was found at 9weeks. Tell me, if I had waited for 12weeks, what will happen. Lots of ladies here can testify to this.... It's same cost, so why wait? I advise Pregnacare Original if you want to go the route of Pregnacare, however add 5mg Folic to it. My Doctor today was encouraging me to continue mine, or do I want the one from hospital? Guess my answer.

Yes is good to register early and if there is any injection to supplement the hormones like progesterone, the hospital can start giving you on time....I started at 5 weeks and started taking progrsterone injection weekly up until 14 weeks that the placenta took over. This helped me alot..Even when I spotted all through 7 to 10 weeks, the progesterone helped and kept the embyro going

My water broke, midnight on Wednesday coupled with excessive bleeding and clot. Got to the hospital and was told the fluid had completely drained and there was no way the baby would survive. before you know it the baby started expelling and I was rushed in for evacuation.
The experience is unforgettable.

so I went for the scan as my gyna recommended and it's still the same! No heartbeat and the EGA is 10wks 1day against 12wks 2days.
My gyna says to come for evacuation as soon as possible!
My question is
1. Please mamas that have gone through this procedure how much is it?
2. What and how is it done?
3.What should I expect during and after the procedure?
I want to have all the necessary details before going in for it.

D and C procedure is a minor surgery. It is done within 15 mins. Less risk except for risk of puncture and asherman syndrome whereby the two skin of your womb sticks together due to over scrapping..but is very rare. But on the overall, it is a minor surgery and there is nothing to fear about. When you are through, you might bleed for sometimes.Then you abstain from sex for two week because of infection.... I did it three times and i am still very ok and was able to conceive few month after the last one

Nothing will happen by Gods grace....One miscarriage does not mean another pregnancy will result in miscarriage. just keep faith alive and ensure you do your best to address all issues.....it might be rhesus incompatibility,chromosomal issue or even low progesterone. Meet with your doctor before taking in so he can run comprehensive hormonal profiling to address what could be wrong...the good thing is that most things that causes miscarriage always have cure. I had three MC and i am now pregnant and almost 27 weeks gone.Even the ones wey i took leave, dey lie for bed in the name of no stress no gree stay. This one that i used to jogg round my Estate dey Kampe. Is all about treating the root cause ... just use my story as a leverage to carrying you bundle of Joy. God will visit you soon
My neighbors are the most nonchalant people I've ever come across.. They don't care about anything... Infact our light was out for more than 2weeks and they didn't care less about it, I had to pay single-handedly for the repair of the light because I was tired of fetching water outside. They was light from last night till this morning and they refused to pump the water. The pumping machine is high and I can't climb with my bump. Now I have to go and fetch water outside. I'm so pissed ehn...

I'm typing this from scan center!
Went for scan this morning, was told to come back for a repeat by 4pm. So I went back for the repeat scan only to be told that there's fetal node without cardiac activity!
I'm 12wks today but scan says 9wks....Was told it could be a missed abortion, that if that is the case I will have to flush it and start all over again since baby is not progressing! But I should come back in two weeks time to repeat a scan and see how it goes before final conclusion!

Congrats dear! Pls this is not a reason ooo. There are some hospitals that deals with antenatals on pay per visit. You can register with them pending when you leave the area. At least by now, you suppose to must have ran some tests and do anoamly scan at 20 weeks, even taken your first TT injection by now. You can ask around and get information on a good and affordable hospital in that area. Hope you are on supplement please do. Congrats once more, less stress and eat healthy

Just came out from antenatal, I asked my Gyno about HIV test - when am i scheduled to do it? he said they don do am since 12 weeks - The result even dey inside my case file- My eyeball commot from en position come return back . Shuu!! wetin be the outcome? He say na negative, that if na positive, they for don call me for advice - They even do syphilis, Gonorrhea, so many test join. i just dey reason, they for inform me first naa make i call my prayer warriors first... I finish the antenata just dey sing hymn to God , dey commot hospital like person wey win Gold medal ....Branched Cold stone take one cold cup of ice cream cool brain ( weather too hot abeg !!..no be my fault - I checked my purse, na soup money wey DH gave me i don chop half ...On a second thought, No shaking sha. en wife get belle, en go understand)...Is not my fault Cold stone dey back of my hospital.
So curvilicious - Ask your Doctor wella, e fit don carry out that HIV test, archive am somewhere inside your file, just dey monitor your behavior.So just dey behave yourself wella anytime you go antenatal so en go give you good news. Lemme come and be going

Shallypop: Good day ma. Pls I'm back again as regards d vasoprin. R u still on d vasoprin?I'm 24 weeks gone .I'm using two gyneas. One told me to stop vasoprin at 26 weeks while d other said I should continue till 36 weeks. I'm really confused.
Vasoprin can be a preventive/ curative measure against pre emclampsia ( High PB in pregnancy). it helps for proper blood flow to the foetus. I am currently on it till 34 weeks as prescribed by my Gyno though no sign of BP but as a preventive measure..... My colleague took it till 36 weeks as prescribed by her gyno and she had a healthy baby more than 6 months ago.
I advise you go by the second doctor and use it till 36 weeks....There is no harm in taking it as advised by my Gyno.
