Hello mommas. May God make it easy for us. Please is there any preggy mom that had to travel by air within Nigeria after 36 weeks? What airline did you use and did dey require any documentation especially wen the bump isn't so big?

My hospital does not give fit to fly past 36weeks and i might need to travel later than that but the good thing is that my bump is portable so I think I can get away with it. Just need 1st hand insight. Thanks!
Sis, There is no airline that accepts past 36 weeks ...Most of them accepts up to 36weeks and you are required to provide fit to fly either from the hospital or from health port...Check their website and try and print their pregnancy rules from their website to avoid immigration embarrassment

SomebodysMum:
I had finished typing but had to come back up to add this. A lot of what I wrote below seems to be like rambling but my thoughts are all over the place. Make una no vex.

Cappo Cappo, I gallant well and dey loyal to your government. 2 hands in the air and one leg up grin

This my pikin na for totoo and bottom e dey kick me o, better kick wey I go dey reason if the place no go slack sef. That means he/she is feet down apparently. Make e sha turn before time by God's grace. We don dey eye Team September with style sef.

I've been meaning to make this post for a while, since I read Queenhecate (I shuddered), Eksbabe (positive) and lately, Divie (thanking God it wasn't worse) birth stories. Congratulations mamas on your bundles of joy, they will forever bring you joy and happiness.

My country people and fellow mamas, I think it is high time we started including hospital names and reviews in our birth stories, it will go a long way in helping women make decisions during the research stage.

Fine, this country can be a s***hole when it comes to healthcare and mama alive, baby alive is all that we want at the end of the day, however, I also need good treatment from staff. No need for oversabi attention but just do your job effectively and efficiently. No insult me cos I fit break bottle for person head after pikin don dey my side.

When I started out looking for hospitals, people were saying general hospitals are the best in Nigeria and bla bla bla. I know someone who actually birthed in South Shore, VI. Spent a couple of cool millions because she and baby had some complications, they still ended up in a government hospital because of availability of doctors palaver.

I registered at GH Gbagada and St. Luke's Yaba but neither seems to be cutting it right now. GH Gbagada because I heard the mosquito situation in the maternity ward na die, no private rooms and the bathrooms are enough to make a grown woman cry. Fine, I know one of their consultants there and it's just 24 to 48 hours stay but still, it's enough that I won't be getting an epidural because, Nigeria. (praying to baba God for supernatural childbirth ooo), I certainly don't want to add avoidable situations like facilities to the mix.
St. Luke because, fear dey catch me say they might be understaffed. Not thaat I'm absolutely sure of this.

I looked into Gold Cross Ikoyi because I have a friend who used them many years back, however the reviews on ordinary Google leaves a lot to be desired.

I learned about MCC Gbaja years ago on this thread and had it at the back of my mind. I looked it up again recently but the latest reviews are from mama Zaynie 's set of 2015 (those women rocked, BIG time!!!)

Please and please, if anybody has current reviews of Gbaja, kindly share o. As things stand, I really would like to change hospitals.

Onegai, it sounds like you are in the health field and know a lot about this. Please ma, if you have any recommendations, private or government establishments kindly share with me o. Cost not a factor, I no mind spend my annual income on getting good healthcare and service. I'm not planning on complications etc God forbid but I want a positive experience. It is all in God's hand but at least I can handle picking a good and clean environment.

What I want from a hospital at this point is a good mix of both General and Private hospital advantages. The advantage that government has over private is expertise and availability of many doctors shey?
Private is good environment and care shey?

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ooo, if any mama knows of any hospital in Lagos that is a perfect blend of both, kindly share with us. I stay in Yaba and can reach most parts of the mainland and ikoyi/VI quite easily. Even if the distance is an issue, please still share, it might be useful for someone else.

Hugs and kisses.
Some people i have spoken to never had good experience with Gbaja... when I was looking for a Federal hospital i can attach myself for antenatal classes, they advised me against using Gbaja. one of my friends almost lost her life as the Doctor removed Fibroid when she was carrying out CS to bring out the baby...She almost bled to death. Another one told me the Doctor broke her water, abandon her and closed for the day without documenting it in the file.. Another one told me She almost died of infection ( She end up losing the baby)..so many bad stories.... instead i got good but not great recommendation for FMC Ebute-metta ( The one inside Nigeria railway compound).

For the antenatal care/consultation, just shifted from Premier hospital to Reddington VI and it has been good all the way. Per my opinion, Reddington is great with Dr. Iwuala or Dr Ukah as your Gynecologist. My limitation is the bureaucracy in booking appointments and peradventure you miss your antenatal, you have to reschedule and wait for the next available date even if na next month - no mercy, you must wait.

Premier is good with great staff but if you are on health insurance like myself, they will relegate you to one Doctor that will be using your body for experiment and be googling any reported case in your presence. You will never see experienced Gynecologist.. No matter how hard you try. The humiliation is too much abeg. But if you are self pay, you will get all their services with good doctors

Good evening my people. May God see all of us through this journey. Please I have 2 questions to ask. 1. Am currently 6 weeks gone and need to travel to Lagos from Warri to write a job test. Can I make this journey by road? 2. Is there anything i can take or be eating to reduce nausea? I am always nauseous without actually vomitting. If vomit manage come out na only large amounts of spit but food or anything dosent settle well with me without having that contant feeling of throwing up. Thank you in advance for your answers.
Sis, You can do that comfortably... In this pregnancy, I drove from Lagos to my hubby 's villa in East at 6 weeks not knowing I was pregnant. I was in the villa and tested and it was positive...Since i was not having MS, i drove myself back after three days...I am currently 15 weeks gone and baby is hale and hearty. The former ones we judiciously monitored and hubby even employed a driver to be driving me to work never stayed... My take is that any baby that wants to stay will stay no matter what - But that does not means you go wake up dey carry lift sha ooo.

God bless all women on this missionary journey.

I await positive response from anyone to guild me through my questions. Thanks.

Ethiopia airline is not just good airline but great....I flew with them to China on official assignment three times and i have had no reason to regret that. Any layover in Addis of over 8 hrs, you will be entitle to a hotel accommodation. Even their aircraft is good. I just love everything about them. Cant wish for more

Birth Story.
So my baby has been breech since 30 weeks and has refused to change position(I am a STM and my first child was also breech which resulted in an emergency CS then too after my water broke). At my 36th week appointment(last Thursday), the Dr told me to do some exercise to make baby flip down but that he will try and do an External Cephalic Procedure to turn the baby if she is still breech and that I would have a scheduled CS by July 25 if the procedure isn't successful. My next appointment was to be today(37 weeks) but I started having pain on the right side of my abdomen since Sunday. I slept through it on Sunday night but it got worse on Monday morning and I just felt it must be labour pain so I went to the hospital at about 3pm. I was checked and monitored for about 2 HRS but the midwife said I wasn't having any contractions and I was only dilated about 1-2cm so I should go back home. She also said my baby is still breech and that I am scheduled for a CS on the 25th. I asked her about the pain and she said its probably the baby pulling or something. I went back home and ate at about 10pm,then I went to bed. The pain was still there and it even intensified to some form of menstrual cramps that was coming and going every 10mins or less. In my mind, I was like,if this is not the real labour pain, then I don't ever want to experience what the real labour pain feels like. By 12:30am,I started throwing up then my water broke. I woke up my mum, told her what has been
happening,I took my bath and we headed to the hospital. The hospital is about an hour from the house and I was having very serious contractions in the car. We got to the hospital at about 2am and I couldn't seat nor stand I was just shivering. I was checked immediately and they said I was 8-9cm dilated and baby was frank breech,I was already having the urge to push and the medical practitioners all started pacifying me not to push. Some were even asking why I stayed home this long before coming, the only answer I gave was an evil eye telling him he needs to check their record and see that I was in the hospital earlier in the day but they sent me back. I was wheeled into the theatre immediately and my baby was brought out at 2:18am on Tuesday,11th July, weighing 3.3KG. I am still angry that I dilated fully and still had to have a CS but God's ways are not our ways and his ways are always perfect. I am recovering well and baby is doing well too.
I wish our remaining mamas very swift delivery and plenty baby dust to our GTC mamas.

#ProudlyTeamJuly#
Congrats dear....The wonderful news is that Mother and Child made it alive....Whichever means, It doesnt matter. Afterall as you do CS, V** go still tight. Use that as consolation joor grin grin. Congrats once more

Feeling really sad!

Pains started again with very very heavy bleeding was at the hospital. Evidently nothing could be done, recommended bed rest and a repeat scan for final decision was hoping to get my lo as my 40th bday present. It is well
cry cry cryHeyya! is well Sis, since the scan showed 6 weeks and you re suppose to be 8 weeks and there is no fetal pole yet, just carry out the final scan as the doctor advised. Maybe the pregnancy is not viable...it can come with heartbreak from my previous experiences but just be calm, God has a greater plan for you...Even if it happens, get encouragement from the fact that God will give you the one that will stay.

Good morning, Mamas.
Let me start calling the problems one by one.
I am 10w4d and I have never had ms. I went for scan twice to be sure my baby was fine.
Because of this, i'm always wondering if my baby is fine. Unless I feel some cramp and then I say 'okay, baby de inside'. Its not funny again! Hubby has banned scans till the hospital says so! My ANC is in august. How do I stop worrying? Please don't laugh, it's serious.

No2: I have been purging since morning! Passing out water! I have just been told I can't take flagyl. What do I take?
Please don't pass me by. Thanks.
I am 13 weeks 4days today and the same thing is happening to me. I feel like a normal human being. No MS, just feeling very strong. The last scan i did week ago, everything looks fine but sometime, it gets me worried maybe because i ve had previous MCs. I wish i can afford a scanner or if there is a mini version, i would have bought one and keep it at home just to keep reassuring myself that everything is progressing well. grin

Good morning Mamas in the house please just noticed spotting this morning with no pain or discomfort . I am already 8 weeks now an I haven't done any scan hoping to that next week . Worried sick ,hubby saying I shouldn't worry but cant help it . Had a MC sometimes back.
Apart from the usual breast tenderness, fatigue ,frequent urination and high temp I haven't had MS .
Do I need to go to the hospital now or wait a while?
Re you sure is spotting or just old blood making its way out from your body? I have had three MC previously and this last one i started seeing old blood from 8 weeks up until 11 weeks with no cramp nor pain...They Gyno checked, ran a scan and everything looks ok. I am now 13 weeks gone and the blood has stopped......It might just be old blood making its way out. You can go for a scan to still reassure your confidence. I did not even have MS just little fever here and there too

God that has taken you this far will not leave you.
Firstly, no matter your religion, don't under estimate the power of prayer. It doesn't matter if you are prayer warrior or not.
Secondly, is there any drug you've used or currently using that has taken you this far(progesterone)?
If yes, then keep using it until you are at least 27weeks.
Since the cause of early miscarriage isn't known, then i will advise you to take one day at a time i.e don't stress yourself in anyway.
To the cerclage issue, for each of the miscarriages, did you do D&C?
If yes, then D&C could have weaken the cervix thereby making it easy for it to open and dilate when you are in mid second trimester because of baby's weight resting on it.
How long since the last miscarriage did you get pregnant now?
If its not up to a year and 6 months, it will be advisable to do cerclage because of the stress your cervix has already gone through.
The truth is cerclage cannot stop one from having 2nd trimester miscarriage if the uterus is seriously contracting so the need to always try not to stress the uterus, i.e always trying to keep the uterus calm.
Another thing to consider is level of progesterone. If by the virtue of what one take in, the progesterone level drops, miscarriage is inevitable which is why some take progesterone drugs even with cerclage input.
Your pregnancy should be taken as high risk pregnancy and should be monitored.
Lastly, always try to go for scan at least once in a month just to be sure your cervix is closed and baby is fine.
There shall be no more loss.
Thanks Dear
I have been on progesterone...... Doc said i will stop by 14 weeks. Yes, I had D&C for all MC. last one was dec 31 last year
Yes i do scan every 2 weeks starting from 7 weeks.i am now convinced....Will go for it. My fear is the bed rest thing associated with Cercage and limitation in travelling as i read in some forum because i plan travelling by 33 weeks. Thanks for the information

Cerclage is for women with cervix issues and the main symptom is multiple pregnancy loss in the 2nd trimester. Your losses are first trimester and ordinarily you should not need a cerclage but I would advice you get it done since you have not gotten to 2nd trimester before just to be on the safe side. The doctor may just want to be proactive so that there will be no stories. It's also a pretty straight forward procedure. You can go through my previous post I wrote a bit about my experiences. It is well with you.

My fellow pregnant women,

I have been a silent follower in this forum. I have lost 3 pregnancies but none has progressed more than 6 weeks and no heart beat ever seen.

I am pregnant and currently 13weeks 5 days gone with heart beat and everything progressing well.

Went to hospital yesterday and the Gynecologist on duty ran a scan and everything is progressing well. He now said i will do cervical cerclage next week - that nothing is wrong with me but is just to ensure the baby stays intact till delivery time.

I ave been reading so many write ups online and cervical cerclage is mainly for those that have had 2nd trimester miscarriage but mine is not the case.

So pls my sister, Is the cerclage now a preventive measure because i am seriously getting worried on the implication on this miracle God has given to me after waiting for years?

Please, who knows should please help me. God bless

I see why you have plenty "common enemies" here on this platform. Even when you pass a valid or vital information you do it in a very unpolite and most times rude way. I had to go read your past posts and in most cases you are either attacking or defending, never really communicating. I think you should work on it. You can make comments without making people feel slighted or insulted.
Per my opinion, the only reason he has the "common enemies" you claim he has is that he speaks the truth and states things the way they are....Human beings dont like truth and always want to be patted at the back even when they are doing the wrong things. I have as well gone through most of his comments and i am yet to see where he has not communicated....Abeg @TWoods - dont relent to always voice out when you see things being done in the wrong way...I am here to learn from the experienced abeg.

My current visa is expiring next month and My hubby is having his convocation in a school in the USA by August. The plan has been ongoing to renew our visa based on the invitation the school sent. Since we plan using drop box for renewal, I want to mention it to USA embassy that i am currently pregnant and i planned also using this Visa for childbirth early next year in addition to this graduation ceremony. I have financial evidence to back it up though no doctors correspondence as i am yet to make any contact and to finalize all that since i am just few weeks gone.

Please advise me on the best way to go about this renewal...I want them to know that i am currently pregnant to avoid any misunderstanding at POE next year.

I actually gained a lot from this because I also need to increase my egg quality before the procedure.so for how long should someone take ubiquinone before IVF procedure
The one that works faster for egg quality is ubiquinol. Ubiquinone is the still the normal COQ10. According to my fertilty doctor, he recommended taking to for at least 3 months for getting high egg quality.

My Sister...God has done it again for me.i had already contacted a fertility hospital to commence IVF 2 months ago after AF that came for just 2 days so they advised i wait for another AF so I can commence Hormonal profiling for the session. After 2 months of no sign, I went back to the clinic to complain that maybe the irregular cycle has started again and what i can do so i can commence the process immediately. I was directed for lab test and i tested positive.....Had a scan and i am almost 9 weeks gone with very strong heartbeat. It turned out that the last suspected AF was even implantation bleeding.

What did i do differently? Nothing much - Started Ketogenic lifestyle to help manage PCOS. In Feb, my gyno placed me on HMG, clomid and triggered with HCG unfortunately it failed as my utering lining was very thin ( 5.4 mm) at trigger so he prescribed m2 tone and Ubiquinol so i started taking them everyday. i stopped 2 months ago when we decided to commence the IVF process. i also bumped into one online daily service on facebook organised by DUNAMIS. i always listen to their daily prayer program everyday on my way from work. I keep speaking faith and potency into my life and God answered me speedily.

I am using myself as a point of contact to all Sister here TTC, Just as God did it for my famiy and we ended up not spending a dime on IVF, God will answer each and every one speedily. My heart is full of Joy and gratitude to God

COQ10 is good for boosting egg quality but your body needs to break it further to Ubiquinol before it can be potent enough. As one gets advance in age, is difficult for the body to break the COq10 further hence the need to go for broken down one that can directly be absorbed in the body. So my opinion is to go for "Ubiquinol" which is the broken version that the body assimilates faster in the body
