Thank you Solumtoya: Don't apply for Credit for another 3 months.
Check your Credit score on Experian, Equifax and Transunion. Hope I got the names right. Check them to ensure the data held for you is correct and if your score is "Poor" or Fair".
Let time do the magic. Just "free am" for a few months while doing everything right.

Hi Solumtoya, Amex card applications for my husband and I were rejected. We have done everything possible to build credit scores; monthly direct debits, phone contracts, registration to vote, and are in our 2nd year in the UK. My husband's works full-time on a permanent basis. Someone said we have to have spent 3yrs in the UK but I see ppl less than 6months getting approved. What could be the issue please? Solumtoya: @ ProfJYK
I have indeed gotten goodies from AMEX Card. I keep saving offers I may need. I use it for shopping, groceries, etc.
I still think the biggest source of points are referrals from Nairaland though. The post I made about how to use Credit Cards without paying interest and the benefits was quite popular. So I added my link later.
I seem to have been upgraded or it's general: My referrals now get 8,000 points while I get 6,000 so feel free to sign up, you might just get a free flight soon:

This also happened to me in a history class which was supposedly meant to celebrate black history. The teacher kept dwelling on how blacks were slaves to the whites. The students kept staring at me like I was some modern-day slave This might not be the same experience for everyone though. Goke7: It's the pictures they usually show them about Africa are the primary reason for such questions, My wife has worked as an assistant teacher and the pupils were once shown videos about poverty in Africa, my wife said immediately they started looking at her kind of like having pity on her cos to them she must have passed through such. Pictures, Pictures, Pictures pass stronger messages. |

Many of them actually know next to nothing about Africa. While on placement, one young carer asked if he would have to cross a boat to get to Africa. It didn't stop there ooo, I kept being hounded by questions about monkeys and if we had fruits and nice things in Africa. I kept answering until I literally got exasperated...Like how wouldn’t you even know? I have also been in a class where some students didn't know that Africa is a continent of several countries...I can go on and on ooo...Lol I honestly believe that the educational system here needs to do better. They know more other continents than ours. The media also does not help in it's negative portrayal of Africa. Sorry for the long post biko...This matter don dey vex me since hustla: LOL
I believe they ask intentionally foolish questions. They literally have the internet on their mobile phones |

Your opinions are very valid. However, what is missing here is empathy. The lady is blind, and might genuinely feel her disability might count for something. I honestly do not think she was feeling entitled, and it would be equally wrong for you to assume so... Gemma11: I don’t understand the reasoning why someone who is a non-Uk citizen would enter the country and assume that their disability immediately gave them the right to apply for public housing. Like there isn’t already a social housing shortage with priority given to their own citizens who are disabled or vulnerable?
It is the entitlement for me sha. |

This comment is baffling!
[q1uote author=jesmond3945 post=116432291]We codemn Nigerians for voting tribe and religion but look at England who suppose inspire us and show us the way, see their voting pattern. How can you compare economic master sunak, somebody that would literally put money in your pocket as father xmas, a billionaire who took UK out of economic woes due pandemic with a war monger and characterless woman like liz truss? What does she know about economy? Even as foreign master how many deals she don sign. Na so we go vote for 2023, tribe and religion. Finally, all man for himself.[/quote] |

Visa Alert!
Biometrics: 25th January, Priority, Abuja TLS No NSF Moved to VAC/ Collection mail : 2nd Feb Documents submitted Main Applicant: BA cert, Transcript, TB cert, Employment letters, 2 Reference letters from past and present employer, Statement of Account, CAS letter, Marriage certificate, Newspaper publication, Change of Name Affidavit, Family picture
I started this journey in August, applied to 3 schools for MA Social Work, got 2 offers in October after several interviews. At some point, I had to write IELTS and a Password test
I had 7 other offers from various schools for MBA, HRM and Project Management but I knew it had to be Social work, so I decided to wait it out...
Special thanks to @Babababy, he once sent a link as a guide for visa applications and I saved it immediately. That guide later became a life saver as I didn't get stranded or have to ask for help while applying for my visa. Thanks to this thread as well, I have gotten so much information just from being here.

Nice one! Chreze: With regards to the work and school discussion. When people who are here tell you it’s a challenging combination. Take it as the truth. When someone tells you it’s impossible, take that too cos he/she may be speaking from experience.
I don’t think combining any two activities at the same time can ever be easy and I think working and schooling is difficult in any part of the world. I know guys who work and study and I will tell you it’s not easy. Believe me. It’s very challenging.
Is it possible? Yes very possible and you can still get a good result.
Will I advice anyone? ….hmmmmm….
Here’s what I will advice:
Try to get something (enough money) to cover your first semester, during the first semester, use it to understand how your Univeristy function and it’s difficulty level. Trust me, the difficult level for University’s varies. Some Univeristy are more difficult (especially those at the top), while some are not so difficult. (I purposely did not use “are not difficult” and that because difficulty is self defined)
After the first semester, you will be able to decide for yourself how you intend to merge the work and school. And possibly you would have made friend(s) that will give you some school update and assist you too.
The reason why Mr(s) A was able to work and school could be because his/her Univeristy was not as difficult as Mr(s) B. Hence why Mr(s) B would tell you it’s difficult or impossible to work and still get good grades.
Above all, don’t ignore advice from people because it’s not in line with what you want to hear or believe. Take every advice you get, Use only the ones you believe and trust. Everything no be argument and curse. Person wey tell you say make you no work and school no go de when you begin face panel for plagiarism because you could not properly translate what you have read into writing.
Trust me my brothers and sisters, e easy for this UK to just change for person eyes like magic oooo. All those plans and imagination wey you don dream of go just turn tears and regret.
In the voice of my people: God no go shame us…
Blessings |

Very well said Hustla Even if your major aim is to "japa", japa with purpose na...The truth remains that getting good grades can even help one settle faster as recruitment fairs hold often How them wan recruit you if you no serious with your book? Na Distinction I dey aim for sef, and NO, them no use book swear for me for those who think being serious in one's studies equates laziness or lack of purpose hustla: How don't Nigerians like seeing other Nigerians in the UK? How will seeing you affect their personal lives?
The truth is, that anyhowness, una wan carry am enter UK without minding that it will spoil the road map for other Nigerians behind you.
Is it until they introduce block accounts like Germany? Is it until they scrape Pgwp for Nigerians?
I hope you know that you're in deep shit if you fail any of your courses? I m not in the UK yet but I know it is hard to give both optimum attention at the same time, like serving 2 masters at the same time, one has to give
Nigeria's anyhowness no follow for UK
If you want to choose hustle or ori olori hustling over your schooling, by all means do it.. But when they ask you to leave the country like one guy was told some pages back, no ask Justwise what to help you
If you study, finish with good grades, your settling will be softer and you will end up making more
Delayed gratification |

What exactly do you now know about UK if you don’t know these ones? Do you think getting US visa from UK is automatic because you are applying from UK as a student? I laugh in that Swansea that you are going to o. By the time school log you out from the system for just owing tuition fee as small as £500 you will understand better. |

Editing another's SOP isn't the way to go, it's always better to pen yours down yourself What you actually need are guidelines and even this can be gotten on Google elenengine: what I need is a sample that someone has written before so I can edit it. or as you said you can also give me the guidelines. |
