Toyota sienna 2001 to 2003 if betta in terms of fuel consumption because it comes wit vvti v6 engine wit 19mpg city and 25mpg on hwy compaired to 18/24mpg city/hwy. Dey are d same intems of maintenance cost and ruggedity. U can google it for mo diff. But it is mo coster dan 1999 model.

Thereare a numberof thingsthatcouldbe causingthisp0420 catalyst efficiencycode. The mostcommonthingis the catalytic converteritselfis no longer functioningproperly. The other likely thingis the rear O2 (oxygen) sensoris no longer workingproperly. Other thingscouldincludeexhaustleaks,damagedexhaustpipes, damagedO2 sensorwiring/connectors,pluggedcatalyticconverter.
I presently hv dis code now on my vehicle, i hv checked for any exhause leak, i hv changed d O2 sensor twice wit a used one, i hv also use a mobile injector cleaner, all but no avail. I am plannin to use pour a gallon of tiner inside a half fill fuel tank, befor i loose d cat for washin. If all dis fails i will change d cat but it is very very expensive. Not a single tin can cause a P0420. I hv P0136( which is O2 sensor low voltage bank 1 sensor 2) befor i changed d sensor.
I will like the car doctor, jaizetech and nissan parts to comment on dis. My vehicle is toyota sienna 2000 model, but I notice a welded cut underneath d cat wen i buy d car as tokumbo from u.s.a, pls wat must hv cause dat or did dey take out any tin out.

Well from my own of observation u hv to consult ur owners manual to know d recomended oil. Meanwhile 0w-40 is a syntetic oil, which is so light for ur engine dat covers over 122000 miles, it may weaken ur seals if dey recomend e.g 5w-30 at ur oil fill cap.

Gabrinoz: Just got an Xterra Naija used. I started observing white smoke from the exhaust , went to 2 mechanics they told me I have to drop my engine that my rings are bad. So I now dicussed wit one of them to drop the engine.
But when I got home I now remember that each time I over oil my Gen erator set it smokes, so I went to my car check the oil level through the deep stick. I observed H and L and the oil level was mush much above the H line, I now called a friend that drives an Xterra, asked the qty of oil he uses , he told me abt 4ltrs.
I cut the call went under the and drain more than 1ltr, because I had change the oil wit more than 5ltrs. I was thinking that If my 190 I4 takes 5ltrs then an Xterra V6 should take more, but I was wrong.
So after draining the oil drove for some hours, park the car start it the next day, the smoke has disappeared, and has being driving since then witout any smoke issue.

I went back to meet one of the mechanic, he was asking me if I have droped the engine I said no, so he asked me what did I do? told him notthing and he is still not beliving me.

Well my broder I will tell u dat u re so lockin, and u might not b dat locky next tym, I am advicing u to use ur owners manual of ur car, or download it from d internet if u dont hv one, any type u wan to do maintenance if u want d car to last. Gud luc

ZIM DRILL:

i would have started by putting 12volts direct to the horn, if it works then i would go to the steering find the horn wires brigde wires to the horn and press the horn if the horn work it rules out the horn switch on the steering

you would be left with wiring from steering to the position where the horn stays, this would be your only suspect. deeping with your wiring you can use the body as the negative and use a new wire from steering to the horn this wire would be a positive

are the indicators working? if there are check the relay that is if there using the same relay for hazards/indicators and central locking relay though i think that the central locking might have its own relay

@Zim drill, I hv checked d fuse, then for the relays I dont know where to locate it.meamwhile all d locks are working fine just dat it did not show any flashing when d remote button is pressed. It suddently develop dis problem. Any idea pls

Hello nairalanders, I owen a toyota sienna 2000 model. I find out that my horn blows normal only when I start d car first thing in the morning(i.e when d engine is cold), when d stirring is turned like 60º and when i park it for some hrs. It does not blow when d car engine is hot (i.e. after d car travels some km). I hv checked d horn fuse, and also i took it to mechanic 3times, he opened d stirring and did some repairs yet it contined d next day. I am tired of d whole tin dat i drive it like dat. Please is dere any other tin I should tell d mechanic to do, i hv spend dome money on it, or os it a normal problem for toyota sienna cars. I noticed dis problem since i buy it as tokumbo from texas U.S.A in decemba 2012. I need ur advise pls.

It is tru my broder, dey hv been banned from riding a double lane roads here in Enugu with effect from monday 1st july and pay N25000 for fine if dey cach u. I also here that d taxi union went and bribe d trsnsport commissioner dat lead to dat ban. I dont know wheder keke people hv union, dey for do and sort them selfs out. Wat is d milage of ur car, because engin oil depends kn d it. Mobile 1 is too expensive, dey sell it N7380 here in Enugu, but i will advice u to go for mobile 1000 20w-50. It is ok. I do change it evry 1000 miles or 2months on my toyota sienna 200 model with 170000 miles on it it cost N3200. Mobile one is too light, it is syntetic oil, it can cause d seals to lickage since our weather is hot.

FRSC Flags Off Operation Rainstorm

Further to sustained operational strategies to reduce road crashes by 20% and fatality by 30%, in line with its 2013 strategic goals, the Federal Road Safety Corps will between 9thand 16th June, 2013, flag off a nationwide special patrol tagged“Operation Rainstorm”.
According to the FRSC, the special patrol is a build up on last month’s exercise tagged “Operation Shield” and other operational activities which has been embarked upon by the FRSC since the beginning of the year as part of its operational intervention.
Speaking on the mission targets for the nationwide exercise, the Corps Public Education Officer, Corps Commander Jonas Agwu said “operation rainstorm has been organized in a triad dimension to cater for strict enforcement of road traffic regulations intertwined with robust public enlightenment campaigns and fleet operators’ inspection and certification under the Road Transport Safety Standardization Scheme.
He noted that massive deployment of patrol vehicles, bikes, ambulances and tow trucks along designated routes of the highways will be witnessed to boost enforcement activities during the special patrol.
Commander Jonas emphasized that “the enforcement will be on number plate violations such as covering of number plates with plastic, use of Peace Ambassador number plates, use of plastic number plates and the use of broken and defaced number plates which negates the provisions of the National Road Traffic Regulations 2004”.
According to him “ operation rainstorm will also address other road vices such as speed limit violation, overloading, dangerous driving, driver’s license violation, non-use of the passenger manifest by some fleet operators and light sign violations.
He added that the robust awareness campaign will focus on the traffic hazards associated with the use of worn-out tyres, speed limit violation, the new number plate, use of phone while driving, driver’s license and compliance with passenger manifest among fleet operators.
Furthermore, the exercise will also witness a nationwide inspection and certification of fleet operators on compliance with minimum safety standards under the Road Transport Safety Standardization Scheme which has so far, witnessed the certification of 2,922 fleet operators and their terminals, training of 600 safety managers and 692 Governors’ convoy drivers.
However, about 210 fleet operators have been de-certified under the scheme for non-conformity with set safety standards and depleted minimum safety standards after inspection and certification.
Feelers from the FRSC indicate that its operatives will not only use the special patrol as platform to inspect more fleet operators for certification but will also evaluate already certified operators to ensure sustenance in operational, vehicles and drivers’ standards as part of measures to enshrine sanity on the highways.
It will be recalled that last month’s operation shield witnessed a 24% reduction in road crashes and 70% increase in the number of traffic offenders arrested and arraigned before mobile courts.
A detailed analysis indicate that while 1,089 offenders were arrested in week 18 (29th April-5th May, 2013) for 1,225 offences before the operation shade special patrol, 3009 offenders were arrested for 4,025 traffic-related offences in week 19 (6th-12thMay, 2013) during the exercise.
Similarly, week 18 posted 32 deaths and 126 injured persons in 55 reported road crashes while week 19(during the special patrol) accounted for down ward trend of 18 deaths and 100 injured persons in 42 road crashes.
Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps wishes to re-iterate commitment to deliver on its strategic goals for 2013 even as road users are strictly warned to comply with all traffic rules and regulations.

Please nairalanders I was stopped today at police check point and they demanded my tinted glass permit for my vehicle ( 2000 model Toyota sienna) on my way to work, I want to ask Is toyota sienna on the list of the cars with tinted glass, and if yes how do I get it, since they collect #5000 from me and release my vehicle.
