Government has no business creating farms, manufacturing coys e.t.c. The focus should increase on attracting more largely mechanised farming and providing security. While portfolio investors may appear sporadic, it is welcomed and we actually need more of them. Nothing happens overnight, it is detailed planning. There is a reason many democratic govts were afraid to take long term decisions that will cause transient pain that may take years as Nigerians are witnessing. Subsidy and keeping naira very cheap was a perfect short term strategy that usually collapses some day , but make the govt appear good to the masses. I dont blame the masses, over 90% wants to feed their family in peace. Those who paid for 5 million liters just before his price went from 699 to 799 received only about 4.4 million liters. That is one disadvantage that can only happen in Nigeria. I can't place an order online and they withhold the product because of price adjustment.

i know of contract for sale of crude in naira equivalent of market price btw. fg and Dangote but not Fixed amount you mentioned. To be fair to Dangote, the price of petrol has at times come down same way it went up. He brought it down by about 20% in Xmas. He is not charity.

Dangote is not straight forward.

He brought down his price to 699, marketers stop import and switch to dangote product. After making payments for millions of litters, he revert to 799 per liter.

The catch is you would be supplied the quantity that the current price can buy with the already made payment.

He has proven that he can not be trusted.

It's time for government to place high tariffs on export of Petroleum products by dangote while using it to subsidize import and cutting off completely naira for crude sales by NNPC.

He will have no option than to negotiate fixed local price for the product or drink it if no country is willing to buy from him.

It's about time Nigeria government begin reaping foreign exchange from that refinery or render it useless should dangotes greed persist.

There cant be fixed local price; the price of crude oil keeps adjusting. there may be stability for a short period of time like 2weeks or thereabout if changes in crude oil prices are minimal, but i doubt price can be static. If Nigerias are ready to see price come down like now, they must be ready to see it go up as well

FYI, state governors won't invest in power sector because they lack the financial capacity to do that. You expect them to pour entire state IGR and allocations on such projects . Besides, they all want to invest in short-term projects .

If we had some reasonable people in this government, that 15 trillion would be used to encourage governors to invest in power in their respective states through counterpart funding, thereby making it easy for them.

FG finances 55% of every power project in the state, while governors provide 45% and hold stakes based on the percentage contributed. Private players can also participate and have their stake. This is common sense - something that's obviously elusive in this administration. Little wonder they are wasting all that money on a useless coastal road.

There can never be industrial revolution without power. It's a shame that a country of 230 million people distribute 5k megawatts in 2026. This has always been the position of this moniker.

There are ongoing investments in the power sector, and by the way improving power sector does not start and end with throwing money on it. Legal and regulatory frameworks in the power sector are very important victories. Your state governors can now choose to provide you power across the chain. Nigetia is still subsidising power, at least if you are not on Band A. Simplistic arguments like 15 trillion will be spent in a single annual budget on the road is not necessary.

it is not misplaced priority. Learn to think for yourself and not influenced by opposition politicians. The government is fixing other FG roads. Constructing new road and fixing old ones are not mutually exclusive. The coastal road will also create far more prosperity and convenience(happening already) for many others than disruption to some.

all votes in the north was not Hausa/fulani. There were 6 north central states that were not preminantly hausa and fulani, also states in the NE with heterogenous ethnic composition who voted, while not discounting other voters in the NW not hausa-fulani

Unification of multiple and wide differential in exchange rate? Ask yourself if we still have power subsidy or not? Government is not cutting spending, is. Lt fighting corruption and tax income is still poor, and we are not ready to remove subsidies on power.

Subsidy on power will be completely removed eventually. There is a reason bands were created to gradually phase out power subsidy. I have learnt over the years the difference between theory and practical governance. It is easy to postulate, the devil is in the details. Nigerians are groaning, and the feeding bottle has to be removed gradually especially after the almost immediate removal of fuel subsidy(i said almost immediate removal, because many do not realise that was not immediately removed as well)

I see you writing production like it is a on/off switch or binary 0/1, and i laugh. Government have no business creating industries , it will only stimulate and provide enabling environment. This government is the closest to turning the tide, It is getting it right on the Macro level, but yet to adequately improve the micro economy. It's failure at the micro level is not because it is failing to do a lot of right things , but progress takes time in a challenging environment like Nigeria. I see more stability ahead with the currency, and a drop in inflation rate Hopefully interest rates also starts to drop as it is currently high.

i don't blame Nigerians for not seeing the progress, because it is yet to trickle adequately to the micro level. Will it in the long run? Yes, if the pace is maintained. The steps taken so far are painful and politicians on all strata refuse to make corresponding adjustment in their way of life. The next set of thieves some are canvassing of for will not make adjustment as well. I repeat Nigerians are a reflection of their leaders.

Can you see the level of resistance with the tax reforms? The first 800,000 naira per annum will be tax exempt, that is an advantage for the poor, it will impact everyone too. so if you earn 2,million per annum, you only pay tax on 1.2,million instead of 2 million. At the end, the tax reform will deliver relief to the poor and increased revenue to the government. It will also favor subnational governments that are production centric.
There is a reason why we are now 47 billion usd in reserves, a 7 year high .

If she takes the very lazy route of investing and deposit the 1,000,000 in a 3% Guaranteed income fund., that is $30,000 annually, while the 1mil remain untouched. The 52,000 she will earn in tiny bits annually is not worth it. However, many infividuals are indisciplined with money and may misuse a lump sum of 1million, if she is in that class; a wise decision was made.

As things are going, Tinubu will be in the 2027 election having at least 31 state governors in his machineries; that will be a difficult weapon to break.

The wife is gradually playing influence for women representation bill with the law makers.
