It's not peculiar to Yoruba folks alone. My Spanish friends do it all the time when I'm among them. I don't really care if it's just a few sentences(that's the only time I'd be caught doing that), y'know some things are said better in one's language.  
But umm, if they're holding a whole CONVERSATION in their language while I'm just sitting there watching then yeah, I would consider it rude.

I remember they did it once last week while we were eating and some Spanish guy came to our table and one of my girls was going on and on with him lol it was fun watching but I did sarcastically make it known that they were being rude. But she did apologize and explained that there aren't many Hispanics on campus so it is exciting to find one of your people of the opposite sex on campus. And I understand how she feels, my school is diverse but still at least 70% white. Imagine, I haven't seen any Nigerian dudes on campus.
