Family / Re: I Regret Bringing My Wife Abroad by chiogo(f): 6:57pm On Jan 05, 2011
Bandit C.:

Sorry Bro but i live in Frankfurt, Germany and believe me when i tell you that there are just no Nigerian girls to find here that fit my taste and the ones i see that i feel are my type and  i'll repeat myself ''are either married or wasting their time with wrinkled old white men''.

When i say ''african american girls'' i am actually talking about you know ''african american girls'' not Nigerian girls living in the US. There are lots of ''african american girls'' here since here is crawling with US Army Military Cantonments, you get me now. If i were in the US or UK, i know this wouldn't be a slight problem for me. Actually at the airport in Frankfurt while going back to Naija, i met some awesome naija american chicks whom i got to know well but wouldn't wanna get in a relationship with because long distance relationships are just not my cup of tea.

I visit the US every now and then and meet these beautiful naija american girls at occasions or something but wouldn't be committed because of distance, because it ain't my thing like i said above. For the record though, i am not superficial because i really do prefer beautiful girls and i do not and never would hate black girls on any occasion, even if my life depended on it but i prefer not to date ''african american girls'' for reasons best known to me.

You get me now.
Wouldn't getting a girl from Naija be a long distance relationship too? How often do you plan on going to Naija?
It kinda makes sense now since you're in Germany, I don't know the demographic for Nigerians there. Oh well, good luck.

Do what you like. You have been going down with oyibo girls meanwhile though you profess to hate akata girls and cannot for some odd reason get a Nigerian American girl What is all that about
You do need to resolve these issues you seem have BEFORE even thinking about going to import a bride from Nigeria.
Exactly, I don't know where he is but America is too big to not find someone compatible, Nigerians are all over this country so it's definitely a personal issue to be worked on if it's that hard to find someone. He kept talking about beauty, there are lots of beautiful Nigerian girls home and abroad, the issue is what happens after the attraction. If a Nigerian man wants to bring a bride over, he has to be very open-minded and not expect to live a naija lifestyle(he might as well go live in naija) but the thing is many of them who do actually want to live a naija lifestyle abroad. Very hilarious! Usually control freaks, that's already a marriage bound to fail because she cannot live like she's still in naija when she's not. It's that simple.

naijababe:

The way you guys are using the phrase "import a bride" make it sound like buying a car or something. Importer and exporters  grin grin grin grin
To those chauvinists, it's a trade by barter issue oo. The term, import is in order grin
Romance / Re: Can One Actually Find A Good Girl In The Club? by chiogo(f): 6:14pm On Jan 05, 2011
Can one actually find a good man at the club? That should answer your question.
If you consider yourself NOT a good person by being in the club then yes, whoever you find there is also no good.

Dude, do you realise that an IT professional  had to spend just a few weeks or months to understand all those processes that took you years to understand as a medical doctor, in other to come of with these technologies that are used in Medicine which you just mentioned ? Doctors just use the technology, all the hardwork has been done for them already. IT is no joke
Nah, took 'em a day to understand. It's not even possible to use these so-called technologies in medicine without understanding how it'd work in the human body. You'd find it interesting to know that doctors help in designing the equipments after all, they know how it'd help them best in administering medical care services.

go figure.

Is he really Nigerian? coulda sworn I heard him say 'yemen'.
Career / Re: edit by chiogo(f): 7:45am On Jan 05, 2011
umm, wait, what does IT  stand for again?  grin

Even medicine has some IT in it, that's how diverse it is, with ppl studying radiology, Doctors learning all these new technologies, MRI scans, x-rays, etc.

Depends on the individual though but I personally don't see anything more complicated than the human body and a profession more difficult than one which involves saving a life.

#justsaying.

Nobody is having a heart attack obviously, what's the purpose of the thread if people can't air their views?

Anyways, still a foolish way to spend money in a poverty-stricken country like Nigeria.

Music/Radio / Re: Nigerian Parents Paid Rick Ross $100,000 To Attend Son's Birthday by chiogo(f): 6:09am On Dec 18, 2010
Plain ridiculous!! Who are the parents? Are they by any means, in politics?
Nigeria, the same country where over 70% of its population live below the poverty line at less than a dollar a day? Not even Naira(not like that's still not absurd) but a freaking sum of $100,000!! I sigh for people o!

It's their money and all but it's just plain dumb coming from NIGERIAN parents. NIGERIAN parents!!!  grin And what is a 10-yr-old doing listening to Rick Ross? Well, actually most kids start listening to rap before that age but . . . . still, and they wonder why Nigeria is the way it is. . .

I also appreciate the ones who make nairaland fun but I never got to converse with.

not trying to argue here but simply attempting to work out this puzzle.

he came to the US at age 13, in 2002.

he should have been placed in eight or ninth grade, with his agemates.

to graduate 4-5 years later, at age 17 or 18.

now, unless he took college level courses while in high school [he denied that though] or was enrolled in a special school that allowed him to skip ahead of his grade.

the educational system could also vary by state perhaps.

anyway, dont mind me.

may he RIP.
Yes, it does vary by state. I came here when I was 13 too but they put me in the 9th grade because they thought I was too young for the 10th grade which is equivalent to Naija's SS1 although I did 9th grade(JSS3) in naija. But I have cousins who moved to Texas from naija and were kept in their original grades. Doesn't have to be a 'special school', some states just don't place a minimum age for HS graduation.

His birthday being in November too, I'm guessing he actually graduated at 14 in the summer of 2004 before he turned 15 in November of that yr. If he enrolled in college that same yr in September(fall), he was still 14 and graduated with his bachelors in 2008 probably in December rather than May, which is when it usually takes place. if so, it took him 4.5 years technically since Sept-Dec is a semester, which is half a yr of college. He turned 19 a month before he graduated.

I think that's what happened.

*Sigh*

Bawo, we first crossed paths on this thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-111517.64.html when you were still new to nairaland. I didn't like your views and we disagreed, you called me dumb so I didn't like you at first. We never crossed paths much since then since I didn't visit the religious section regularly. Then we met again on the NBA thread and realized we were both basketball fans. We argued most of the time about Rondo and Derrick Rose, who played for your beloved Chicago Bulls. You're probably his biggest fan ever and I wish he knows he lost a great fan. I'm thinking of notifying him through facebook(Yeah, I'm actually his fan even though I never showed it but I still like Rondo more :] ) but I'm not sure he'll get the message and it would depress him too. I haven't been on nairaland for a while till friday and I made my way to the NBA thread to reply to the comments you made to me for over a week teasing me about my obsession with Rondo and how I need to be on the Derrick Rose team. I was coming to laugh as usual and tell you, "in your dreams" and boast of how Rondo would thrash Rose as they face each other that night only to hear the devastating news of your passing. I couldn't even bring myself to pay attention to that game, knowing I can no longer as little as argue with you or laugh about your team's loss. It hurts to know that you just posted a few days ago but can no longer do so forever, which means I'll never see your username appear online again. It sends chills down my back.

Over the years since '08, we've joked and argued on the NBA thread. I went from 'dumb' to 'our scholar' who you jokingly asked to remember you when I start rolling in money, not knowing you're the true genius. I was flattered even though I didn't act like it. I thought you were much older because of your username and also the maturity of your posts and the depth of knowledge you seemed to have on many issues. You were fun and I would always read your posts on the celebrity section too because I knew they'd definitely be funny.

I saw your facebook profile on ileke_idi's facebook profile but thinking you were so much older than the person in the picture, I doubted it was you and I didn't add you, which I now regret because I never got to know you outside nairaland but also kinda glad I didn't because all I would be posting on your wall now would only remind me of the pain you must have gone through before you left the face of this cruel world. Knowing that you and I were only a few years apart makes me smile now, you fooled me making me think you were old enough to be my uncle or something. But it's cool. Knowing your age and your accomplishments during your short years makes me realize how humble you were. For someone who had accomplished so much, you had no arrogance in you and no, you're the real scholar who should be celebrated, not me.

I remember on another thread where we were arguing and I said that I felt sorry for your parents due to your views. I only feel sorry that a promising child like you was snatched away from them. I'm sure they were proud of you and still are of the type of person you were and the great impact you made on the people around you. Still feels like a long, terrible dream but I'm slowly coming to terms with reality and I'll try to smile because that's the only expression you put on my face when I read your posts.

I'll truly miss you. Rest in peace, buddy.
