Romance / Re: Will You Still Marry Her If She Won't Fully Change Her Last Name -No Hyphenation by chiogo(f): 12:11am On May 04, 2011
Princek12:

Many people are looking at the literal implication of this issue while ignoring the spiritual implication. Having one family name upon marriage is a spiritual sign of unification in front of God and man, and a symbolic and spiritual act of the completion of the woman leaving her father's household and joining her husband, culminating in one new family.
And how about non-Christians? Or people in whose culture the woman keeps her name? They're not unified?
I'm taking what you wrote literally now: so what if the woman already moved out of her parents' house before getting married?

Still boils down to choice and you cannot force down your opinion on others with all these excuses/justifications. Not like women have not been hyphenating their names anyway so it's not a new concept.

THE AMAKA:

thats what happens when you let the nairaland politics section corrupt you.
There's been a couple of people who claimed they were neutral until coming to Nairaland. I call BS on that 'cause I really don't see how an online forum can completely change you if you never had those feelings towards the group. I think Nairaland brings out the realness in people. It's all good though, even if nairaland is the only opportunity ppl have to be REAL. grin
Romance / Re: Two Fat Lonely Girls by chiogo(f): 11:48pm On May 03, 2011
LOL funny thread.
Interesting read. I kinda get everyone's point but to each his/her own. At the end of the day, people have their preferences.

Politics / Re: Fashola Vs Chime Vs Amaechi Vs Akpabio(who Is The Best Governor In Nigeria) by chiogo(f): 4:11am On May 03, 2011
Shameless.

I don't know why y'all still bother with threads like this. Of course, MOST people on this section anyway would vote based on the ethnicity of the governor.
Romance / Re: Will You Still Marry Her If She Won't Fully Change Her Last Name -No Hyphenation by chiogo(f): 1:53am On May 03, 2011
I'm not surprised this guy would open a thread like this.
Trivial issues is the death of my black people.

Culture / Re: Why Don't Nigerian Women Drink And Smoke? by chiogo(f): 1:19am On May 03, 2011
Blood_Shed:

shocked shocked shocked shocked

Even in clubs and bars I've been to, I've never seen a Nigerian girl smoke, not once. I did take that into consideration you know, so don't insult me, please. Of course people drink at bars and clubs but I've never seen a Naija woman get absolutely wasted drunk before.
My post was def. to the person above me. And we're saying the same thing. . .mostly.
Sports / Re: NBA Season 2010/11 by chiogo(f): 1:17am On May 03, 2011
Brave Hear:

@ Chiogo: We have indeed brought it, the onus is on you guys to respond at your home court in Game 2, Please Durant is good but no where near a beast yet, he's still got some way to go before we start calling him one. he definitely has beastly instincts though, In as much as I hate L.A, there's no way OKC can get past them this year or even the Mavs should they make It, way too much Playoffs Inexperience in their team and I know I'll cause a stir here but I strongly believe Bulls wont make it to the finals. Atlanta can knock em out and if they do beat the Hawks then it'll be in 7 games. The Celtics or Heat will just rip em to shreds in the Eastern finals.
Ok, you got game 1 and we shall indeed respond. Yea I know Durant is young and still has some way to go but really not that much. He is a beast considering his age and what he's done so far, you don't have to do all he's done while nearing 30 to be a beast. That's the whole point wink And as for your predictions, we'll see, won't we?

REALITY101:

I hope you saw one of his silly and annoying attitudes on Celtic V Miami yesterday.

Lets go LAKERSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Coming from a Laker fan, that's pretty funny.

A-40:

By the way Brave Heart why are you so scared to bet on your team?? I said u guys aint reaching the Finals and u went mute or are you subliminally telling me your name is an oxymoron??
grin grin wicked!
Sports / Re: NBA Season 2010/11 by chiogo(f): 8:42pm On Apr 30, 2011
Na wa oo for SA. All the flexing they did in the regular season shocked
And the Celtics had the best first round record cheesy even though we weren't that good in the regular season. tehehehe. I love my team, man.

I'm happy to see OKC this far though, Durant is a beast and I kinda want them to face Chicago for the finals. LOL only if the celtics don't make it though.
As for the Heat, let's see if you can bring it. . .although I highly doubt it. Pshh tongue

Culture / Re: Why Don't Nigerian Women Drink And Smoke? by chiogo(f): 11:35pm On Apr 27, 2011
^^ Hehe, where else do people go to smoke and drink? ==> clubs, bars. .

@topic, umm I've seen grown women, mothers too back home who drink, mostly beer though. Smoking. . .maybe not.
Over here, anyone who parties(a lot) drinks. FACT. grin So, you'd have to go to such settings - parties, clubs, etc to see. But I'd say naija girls don't get piss-drunk as is the norm here, probably the culture thing. Some are just careful 'cause word gets around esp. in places with a high concentration of Nigerians.

^-- Nothing tribal about me bumping this, or this thread. It just exposed someone who is bigoted even against his own people. Has nothing to do with igbos as a whole
LOL I made a general comment plus I think I already made my comments on the issue seeing as he's supposedly bigoted towards people of my state.
He can be a 'tribalist' too depending on how y'all use the word anyway.  grin
