lol I'm so late!! But all the same, retarded-a/s/s topic and poster! |
^^ LOL Indeed. |
Yea, you should go to bed. . .maybe when you wake up, you'd be able to digest all the info I put out. It seems too much for your head to contain right now. Your sociologist claim is a mentality just like my "unattractive" opinion. . .and I'm supposed to accept yours because . .? Umm, NEGATIVE! lol anywayz, you talk like I don't have Nigerian experience too. Psh. Puhlease!! I've probably spent more time there than you have. Garri and bread is unhealthy if you eat it everyday. I bet my skinny a/s/s that VERY poor naija people barely have enough money to consume even that on a daily basis. Still boils down to poverty in MY opinion. You don't eat as often as you should and when you do eat, it lacks nutrition, it's an unbalanced diet. You're unhealthy. Easy peasy. eldee:Stay ignorant. ![]() |
eldee:Thank you, thank you, you're far too kind. ![]() But umm, I'm indifferent to that part of the research since it wasn't relevant to my paper. But when you came with that sociologist claim, I had to go back and look. I stand by my "unattractive" theory. Umm, how are you so sure that the life expectancy for Nigerians is due to the eating habits? How about poverty? Over 70% barely have anything to eat much more finding these fatty foods. It's different for Americans. Poor Americans have more access to junk food. Poor Nigerians have access to NOTHING. Big difference. |
My opinion isn't BS if you couldn't answer the questions that surround it: Do you find obese people attractive? How many obese people do you know? How many of them suffer from diseases that can be attributed to their obesity? Learn how to read. I brought up the research thing because you made your first post to me telling me that my OPINION is wrong and that obesity is exaggerated because people think obese people generally don't care for themselves. II only gave you what I found through research, just like you. If I agreed with my research, I would have brought it up earlier rather than stating my opinion. You can call it BS all you want even though it came from a credible source. Doesn't mean I have to agree with it, just like I don't have to agree with your sociologist theory. |
Oh yea eldee, and you shot yourself in the leg about smokers not being stopped from being models. If that doesn't tell you anything about MY "unattractive" opinion, I can't help you with that. PS: I also wanted to go into Law, so I totally understand the whole stubbornness and argumentative thing. But sometimes, it's really wise to let it be. ![]() |
Damn, your case is special. Definitely read my post backwards. Like Ayettymama would say, is your brain on vacation? Pretty sure I mentioned that the "unattractive" thing was MY opinion. You may not agree with it but that was gotten through my own observation. Now the health care part was founded through studies/research. eldee:I'd advise you to read previous pages because I really hate repeating myself. Obesity and smoking = two different issues. Although they can be intertwined since obese people who also smoke have higher mortality rates. But that's not the point. We already know severe obesity is UNHEALTHY(read previous posts), excessive smoking is also obviously UNHEALTHY. Now, there is obese and there is VERY obese. These two are usually not distinguished, all people really say is 'obese' and how it carries many health consequences. Research states that the reason why people exaggerate the dangers of obesity is because they claim it's costing the country money through health care. NOT because of any factual evidence that losing weight makes one healthier. Now your logic about smoking is another issue on its own, I'm sure there's research somewhere also showing why it's not exaggerated, according to you. Just look hard enough but smoking isn't what I was discussing. |
I hate "Farina" so much. . .Makes me remember my acquaintance at school who begs me everyday to bring her a Pot of Okra soup garnished with Snails and meat.
LOL. . .Farina is okay, I don't like the smell of actual naija fufu. But yea, the guy in my high school was like that too. Like someone would actually bring that to school. Tsk. |
LOL Eldee, I don't wanna argue with you even though I can. I didn't give you the result of obesity, I gave you the mentality that most non-obese people have of the impact of obesity on them hence why obesity is exaggerated. Read slowly and digest that info. ![]() eldee:Def. wasn't a google or wiki research. Now it's your turn to listen to yourself but who accepts smokers? Yes, their existence is recognized like everything else but anti-smoking adverts also exist. In schools esp. health classes, it's a huge discussion - the repercussions and everything else. So, how's it accepted? You make a false assumption about stretch marks - they equally occur in normal-weight and under-weight people. It's not a "fat people" thing. |
Awww. ![]() I bet it was "farina" though not real Nigerian fufu. Farina is basically flour and doesn't have that fufu smell, that's why it looks like grits. Haha I like it too. I remember this Black boy in High school said he liked it, kept asking me to bring him some, lol. |
0hsisi:You're hott!! I bet you work out. ![]() LOL Ayettymama cracks me up, gotta love her!! |
Lil' freak - Usher/Nicki Minaj |
eldee:Sociologists? I'll like to hear from actual science experts. Like I said, I did a research on this obesity issue. The unattractive thing is my opinion though but it doesn't take rocket science to figure it out. Ayettymama said this previously. I made that comment based on these questions: Do you think obese people are attractive? Exactly how many obese people do you know whose deaths were as a result of their obesity? I personally don't know that many to conclude it's unhealthy. But just seeing obese people as unattractive is enough to make one believe their lifestyle must also be unhealthy. It's very simple. But anyway, the real claim made by studies for why obesity is exaggerated is that people believe that not only are obese people hurting themselves, they're costing people their hard-earned money - $70 billion worth of health care for fat people, etc. Your sociologist claim is the complete contrast. |
Nationality? Nigeria. |
Luda!! ![]() LOL I forgot all about this song. tehehe can't wait!! Damn, gotta go out with a bang. 3 more weeks! |
omar22:What's your point? I never made any comparison between NATIVE Asians and NATIVE Nigerians. Fried foods are not necessarily unhealthy if eaten in moderation. Besides, I don't think Palm oil is used in frying eggs, meat, etc. Some people actually use olive oil. Palm oil is only used to give some foods like native soups some type of color. Yes, everyone knows that Asians eat healthy foods but studies show that the BMI levels of the ones outside Asia are still greater. Same with Africans. Now, comparing how much the BMI's differ between both races is another thing. |
![]() Gators, can you ask sjeezy out without involving my name? ![]() |
Kenturah coo Tutupie nee. Some women just continue to degrade themselves. She'll take cheating but not beating? I'm lost here. LOL, whatever man, he'll continue cheating on her then, probably reward her with some nice STD's in the process. Perfect! ![]() |
What the french toast!! That's the most retarded thing ever! ![]() Ah well, desperation at its worst!! But still, sad. |
^^ You're right about the palm oil thing but that's just one thing. The fertilizers in processed chicken alone is bad enough. ![]() |
ayettymama:Yea, it's the quality not quantity of the food. lol Africans in Africa eat more healthy/locally-grown food compared to Americans with all the processed foods. |
ayettymama:I totally agree with this. Obesity is exaggerated by the society not because it's unhealthy but generally because they deem it unattractive. But severe cases of obesity is obviously detrimental to health. About the food comparison thingy among Black/White/Asian men, I understand what you're saying but you're looking at it in the physical sense, just because a Black man is able to eat more than a White man and still remain skinny doesn't mean the Black man is healthy. I mentioned that in my previous post. Environment plays a part too - Research shows that Nigerians in America have higher BMI levels than those in Nigeria, that can be attributed to the American food. So, maybe when you say a Black man, consider if he's an immigrant. Black men in America eat differently from those in Africa. I get your point though. |
r231:"But it wasn't easy" - the commentator's words not mine. ![]() |
^^ It was also Cavs year last year. They never really finish it off so umm, I dunno if this is their year. |
Hehe, I love this discussion, actually recently did a research paper on the unhealthiness of obesity: myth or fact? ![]() I agree with ayettymama on some points, being moderately fat is not necessarily unhealthy IF energy expenditure is considered. The whole BMI calculation does NOT account for fitness but only body weight in correlation with height. So, a person's sedentary lifestyle plays a role. You can be fat while eating healthy foods and exercising. In this case, is the person unhealthy? No. One can be slim on the other hand, without engaging in any physical activity but really, that person isn't healthy. But I don't agree with the food thing being okay for blacks and not whites. That's unfounded. ![]() But yea, obese(Very over-weight) people are generally prone to suffer from CDV(Cardiovascular)-related diseases, diabetes, and some cancers. Underweight people are also prone to diseases, they're just not CDV-related. |
