I think they've got enough monetary rewards, don't you? They should ask anyone that wants to give them more money, to give it to an orphanage or old peoples home in their name......especially the wealthy foreign players like Obi Mikel.
well like them collect it,I just hope they use these monies wisely so that they dont come back in years to come and spin that common tale about the country not helping them.
PoliticsRe: Mark : Nigeria Has Less Friends In Africa by chochoman: 6:30am On Feb 14, 2013
Rilikoko: We don’t have many friends in Africa.” That formed part of the words by Senate President David Mark while narrating his experience in South Africa during the Nations Cup final between Nigeria and Burkina Faso.

Speaking at plenary yesterday during a debate on a motion by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and 107 others, on Nigeria’s Outing at the AFCON 2013, Mark noted that very few people from other African countries wanted Nigeria to win the trophy.

“From my interaction with people from other African countries who went to watch the match, I observed that we don’t have many friends in Africa. Only very few people, including those I interacted with in the State bus, supported us. They believed that Nigeria is great already, and they wanted Burkina Faso to win. I think this implies that as a nation, we should learn to be self-reliant”, Mark said.

It would be recalled that Mark led a Federal Government delegation to South Africa to spur the Super Eagles to victory following President Goodluck Jonathan’s inability to cheer the team in person as earlier promised.

Like it has been pointed out by Nairalanders, its a common thing for people to support underdogs. However, who hates Nigeria or Nigerians more than a man who said phones are for the rich.

Meanwhile, this picture taken as at 3.16pm this evening shows aggressive road constructions going on inside the villages in Enugu state. Sullivan (or Sunday Onyebuchi is on top of his job.)
The road construction can mean any of three things, preparing for the Gov's homecoming, preparing for the visitors who may turn up for a final homecoming,or a strategic move by the deputy to sway the Gov's community to his side in the event of a 'final homecoming'.

Always ready to criticize even when there's no room for criticism. angry
Point of correction, the core of the Zambian team you mentioned was made up of the team that got dumped out of the previous competition in the hands of the super eagles two years earlier, that is experience.Obagoal is a proven striker who still has it in him.

TV/MoviesRe: CPC Wants Pay-as-you-go Subscription For DSTV Consumers by chochoman: 7:35pm On Nov 20, 2012
Okija_juju: Pay-per-view TV is different from Pay-as-you-go TV. On Pay-per-view, you need an active cable subscription to watch those channels. Eg, WWE Monday night raw (wrestling) have certain nights that are strictly on pay-per-view.. However, Pay-as-you-go means that you only get charged when your DSTV is on.. Sort of like NEPA prepaid meter.. No light, your subscription remains.. Which means some people will use 1000 Naira 'DSTV CREDIT' for 2 years..

I dont support it.. It will destroy DSTV..
who cares if it destroys them. You are sounding like the general(now retired) who said telephone is for the elite.so you prefer the idea of paying for services enjoyed as in the Nepa prepaid to exploitation as in the Nepa crazy bills?

PoliticsRe: Okada Accidents Killed 107 In Two Years – LASG by chochoman: 10:26am On Oct 26, 2012
scopusng: Lagos State Government said no fewer than 619 people were either killed or seriously injured in commercial motorcycle accidents across the state in the last two years.

The government explained that the figure was from the state Traffic Management Authority’s record.

A statement by the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, added that records from the Planning and Research Department of LASTMA showed that out of the number, 107 people died while 512 sustained serious injuries as a result of the accidents.

It said those who died in the two years were 71 males and 36 females.

The statement read in part, “Details of the accidents between January 2011 and October 2012 further revealed that a total of 442 commercial motorcycles, popularly called okada, were involved in accidents across the state during the period out of which 271 occurred in 2011 while 171 occurred in 2012.

“Also according to the records, in 2011 alone, 47 were killed and 98 others sustained serious injuries while from January 2012 to date 63 people have been killed while 59 others sustained serious injuries.”

The government added that police records showed that a total of 513 fatal accidents recorded in the state in the last two years were caused by okada operators.

According to the record, out of this number 305 happened between January and December 2011 while 208 of the fatal accidents happened between January and June 2012.

“The record also revealed that of the 30 armed robbery incidents recorded in the state between the months of July and September this year, 22 of them involved the use of commercial motorcycles. Details, according to the record, show that of eight robberies that occurred in July, seven involved the use of okada while okada was also used in 10 out of 14 robberies in September and in five out of eight robberies in August,” the statement said.

It added that the state government promulgated the Lagos Road Traffic Law to address some of the security challenges by restricting operators of commercial motorcycles to certain areas in the metropolis among other reasons.

The statement said government only restricted okada operations to some areas to regulate traffic and reduce avoidable accidents and loss of life on roads.”

Okay, but how many died from car accidents and air mishaps. And have we banned air travel and use of cars? That mode of transportation should be regulated and not done away with.Doing that is like throwing away the babay with the bath water.
PoliticsRe: Governor Flogs PHCN Manager For Power Failure by chochoman: 5:01am On Oct 25, 2012
Nuzo':
Governor of Sokoto State, Northwest Nigeria, Aliyu Wamakko, has flogged a manager of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, for failing to supply electricity to his community.

Premium Times, an online news portal reports that the governor flogged the manager and ordered his security officials to assault two other PHCN staff.

The management of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KEDC, a subsidiary of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, accused the Governor of assaulting the workers.

The Acting Managing Director of the Company, Mohammed Adamu, made this known at a press briefing late Monday at the company’s Doka office in Kaduna.

Mr. Adamu explained that the staff was summoned by the governor and was beaten to a pulp by the Governor and some of his aides.

“On Saturday, 20th October, 2012, an unusual and unfortunate event took place which was beyond our comprehension. On the said date our business manager, Gwiwa Business Unit, Sokoto state, Moses Osigwe, was invited by the Executive Governor of the State, Aliyu Magatarkada Wamakko to his personal residence, over the issue of lack of power supply to his hometown, Wamakko, as a result of a failed 2.5MVA transformer.

“He accused our staff of deliberately denying his community, Wamakko, of power supply. As the business manager was trying to explain to him, the governor just brought out a horse whip (popularly known as bulala in Hausa language) and lashed him to a pulp,” Mr. Adamu said.

The PHCN boss said the governor’s brutality did not stop at being the direct aggressor, “as he also invited and instructed two hefty mobile police men to continue with the beating spree until the business manager fell on the ground and became unconscious.”

“In the same vain, the Governor did not stop at the beating of our business manager but invited two other staff of the company namely, Isyaku Daura, Officer 2 (Electrical) and Nuruddeen Mohammed, Staff 1 (Lines) and ordered the mobile policemen to beat them up, also to a pulp,” he lamented.

He described the governor’s action as uncalled for, barbaric, and uncivilised. The Senior Special Assistant to the Sokoto state Governor, Sani Umar, when contacted on phone told reporters that he was driving and would call back. He was yet to do so as at the time of this report.
