codebreaker: Loool! Bros no vex.. Abeg make una forgive me abeg.. I'm speaking as a geoscientist.. others can speak for their fields like IT, Engineering etc..
....Geo-scientist dey Canada too my brother...and na still same same....Msc/Phd certificate isn't any employer's business.....Its what you can do that matters....If you claim to have MSc and can't perform in ur Job then lipsrsealed ...na practical dey Jawo!! for here and i believe colleges do more practical work than Uni....

codebreaker: Can I chip this in.

Someone mention that 90% of canadaians just get their diplomas and end their academic pursuits and start life immediately. As a Nigerian would it not be better to stand out with an Msc instead of dragging diploma job opportunities with other canadians.

For me I am just speaking from what I know for my field. I am a Geophysicist and my job is as technical as anything that has to do with technical or what ever words you guys are throwing around. There is nothing for you with your diploma cos frankly no one would even employ you in a oil exploration team with a diploma.

Another thing is, I think not alot of people actually end up getting that msc they plan to cos after PR people become lazy to go back to school and get it. Please prove me wrong, if you have done post graduate diploma and then done Msc please indicate.
....Do you know how many Nigerian's work for Top companies here in Canada with just PGD/Diploma?.....Your MSC or PHD isn't what makes you stand out my brother.....Don't come here and say to peeps that there is nothing for them with there diploma cuz dem go stone you to death like Stephen in the bible grin....As a matter of fact, most employers here only have diploma degree......Some sef na High sch cert dem get.....Here in Canada its totally a different ball game......What you said is only valid in Naija not here in Canada........

....Cluster dey cloud 9 lounging at the mo grin...the processing doesn't take long since its a college.....its not compulsory for your sch to send transcript to Conestoga since the modus operandi of Ontario Colleges is via email/online.....just follow dia requirements and you'll be fine.....cluster himself will get back to you in 90 days time so chill for him ......

abisolmi: It is very possible to work and study and still come out tops in your academics. You first have to make sure the type of job you get will not be too tasking so it doesnt affect you too much. for instance, if you work 3 hours a day, 6 days a week, thats 18 hours. I am sure working 3 hours a day wont be that tideous right? so please dont rule out the possibility. some even work weekends only and have weekdays to themselves so not so bad huh?
....Hmmm!!!!....Shines teeth @bolded grin.....
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by ChriGo(m): 3:21pm On Jul 07, 2014
emperoracro: ok bro. The issue is dat most pple tink dat workin while studying in canada is easy, but frm wat u just said now,u really av a point, its either u choose excellent grades or u choose work! My question is, if one works fervently during holidays, do u tink one can meet up with major expenses?
....Yes you can meet up with major expenses depending on the pay.....if you earn $20/hr and above then you should....but if na $7 or $11 then you really can't meet up with major expenses...na bills(rent, phone, food e.t.c) go chop am all grin....

lassky: how person go come dey see money buy food stuffs and maintain body cry cry
.....Its a trade off man....its either you trade off ur grades in sch to work or you trade off work to study, get good grades and get a good job at the end of your study.....here in my sch...if you fail a course, you get to pay $1000 to redo the course....if you fail the course as a result of the menial job you do, then what would be ur gain if you have to remove a thousand dollar from it ? knowing fully well that the amount you're earning per month is not even up to $2000....some course are even pre-requiste to another course in another semester so if you do not pass it, you get to pay another full tuition fee since you're a full time student(It happened recently to a guy in my Class)....the workload in school is massive and i bet you'll barely have time to do assignments, study for test and exams,do presentations,do labs.....even if you manage to pass the course, you end up with poor grades in ur courses which results to low CGPA at the end of your course....Now that you have low CGPA, do you think employers will employ you?....you might just get stuck doing that menial job you've been doing till God knows when so its your choice man grin.....Like i said earlier, you can always work during long breaks and make cool cash for yourself......but don't make the mistake of choosing to juggle sch work and work work at the same time......Its murder grin......

misturchris: Jesu!!!! na ICTX i dey come for though. but i am sure the workload is the same. Diariz God oh. well no p. I think ICTX shld also have coop term. Thanks oga boss

misturchris: hello my fellow nairalanders, hope ur sunday is going well. i wanna ask the sarnia folks what kinda jobs can someone get while going to schl and whats the minimum wage in sarnia?
....No be CPEX you wan do?.....Okay come work na.....when workload hit you like trailer, nobody go tell you what to do grin.....to be frank with you my brother.....its either you choose between getting good grades or working.....with the workload here, you can't do both.....and the kinda jobs here in Sarnia ain't worth ur failure in sch bro....the pay isn't even up to the minimum wage($11)....only few places pay the minimum wage and its time consuming....you can work during long breaks depending on ur course schedule and besides you get coop opportunity in between ur course work.....i no need say much, come here and witness it ursef grin.........

tebbyosi: Thanks alot Efizzy and Miss bon. I'ld have to get that done asap.
Miss bon, everybody, somthing else has been been bugging me though. i plan to use my momma as sponsor and my brother who isnt in naija as co-sponsor. i remember reading a post somewhere in the earlier pages that d VOs usually hav problems with sponsors not in naija. How about a co-sponsor not in naija? is it smart? if you think its ok to use him, even though he is not in naija, do i need to do an affidavit for him too?
....Its all about convincing....some peeps have sponsors abroad and still got there visa....while some have sponsors in Naija and still got denied...Its all about how well your app can convince the Visa officer...though its hard convincing the VO you'll come back after studies since ur sponsor isn't even resided in Naija so i feel they also assume that you'll definitely not leave after studies too(i.e following same footstep as ur sponsor grin)...but the Idea of using two sponsors(naija and foreign) ain't bad as well but you still need to convince too......

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by ChriGo(m): 2:54pm On Jun 28, 2014
vinnygod: @chrigo,miss bon and other guru in da huz please this write up below is coined out from the CIC website .
The canada border service agency (CBSA) officer will ask to see your travel documents when you arrive in Canada. Make sure they are not packed in your luggage, and that you have them with you. This will help speed up your entry to Canada.

You should be ready to show the following documents:

#1.a valid passport or travel document

#2.the letter of introduction from the visa office that you received when your study permit was approved (this letter contains your permit reference number and the CBSA officer needs this letter to issue your study permit)

#3.a valid temporary resident visa (if required)

#4. A copy of the letter of acceptance from the designated learning institution at which you are accepted to study
#5. Proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Canada and
#6. Letters of reference or any other documents recommended by the visa office where you applied.

My questions lie on #2,#5 and#6.
1) Were you issued letter of introduction when you obtained your TRV.if "No"what was the Officer's reaction at a point of entry and if "yes" what do you suggest I should do in my case.(I wasn't issued a LOI)

2) How do I proof that I have sufficient funds for my stay in canada at POE. Is it by presenting the same SOA I submitted during application process but this time the current status of the SOA or by showing them the traveller's cheque ,debit master card or cash at hand.

3)Finally but not limited to this, base on the documents at the #6 above, how important is this reference letter at the POE.if yes how do one obtain it

4)What is the easiest and cheaper way to carry money to canny.that is the money I will be using for my living expenses.
Thanks in anticipation for your quick response.
....Answers...

1) If you weren't issued the letter, don't bother yourself about it....i know alota peeps who got in without the letter....

2) They really don't ask about this....never seen or heard of anyone been asked...if dem ask you, then tell them about how money will be sent to you once you settle(That's if you used a sponsor)...show them your Master Card or Visa card and let them know you can always make withdrawals from any ATM terminal.

3) They don't ask about this except if your case is exceptional(e.g re-entry to Canada after been sent out previously)

4) The easiest way is by using your MasterCard from naija....Just like i said earlier, you can withdraw from anywhere, anytime, anyday...money can be paid into ur naija bank account and withdrawals can be made through any ATM terminal here in Canada

Bros your questions too much Ojare grin......
