Tobi Amusan easily no Nigerian athlete male or female can boast of a world record or championship gold. M7even: Off football, I wanna ask who is your Nigeria's greatest female athlete of all time.In America, they easily mention names like Serena Williams , Jackie kersee etc.
For me number one will be Mary Onyali... But Chioma' Ajuwa's gold medal will put her in many people's first place. And then Mercy Udoh Colin was great. Blessing Oborodudu ,was great , to be the greatest female athlete is debateale . Asisat Oshoala will retire as one of the greats but then she will be in third place for me from her discipline behind Perpetual Nwokocha. Blessing Okagbare , Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume were forces to recon with particularly Tobi's world record for Nigeria. I don't think aside Tobi we boast any world record .
In table Tennis Funkè Oshonsike has been to over 6 Olympics, which is great but she is not a global force to recon with. |

I get you clearly I'm not down playing the fact that overall security wise PMB was worse. I'm just saying (like you admitted in your fourth paragraph below) that Buhari handled the Boko Haram insurgency more stringently than his predecessor even though results were not completely successful. BlueRayDick: No I don't.
What we are saying is there was problem in the North East when Jonathan was president and he was kicked out because he couldn't solve that security problem...
Buhari campaigned on the premise he would solve that north east insecurity problem and didn't mention there will be banditary problem in the north west and that the middle belt/north central's fulani herdsmen/farmers crises will take the turn it took. Neither were we prepared for the southeast becoming a security Flashpoint.
All of the aforementioned security problems joined the unresolved boko Haram issue. (Yes I can agree boko Haram was Pounded for a while under Buhari but they were never completely disarmed)
You may not understand Sha, but for someone like me who was in the northwest and could be reassuring people down south that the north west was safe back then when everyone was assuming there's no difference between north east with boko Haram issue and the peaceful north west ; it breaks my heart to see that almost all of northwest has been ravaged by Banditary and terrorism. That time when someone serving in Niger can just decide to go visit a friend serving in Kebbi, Sokoto or Zamfara without fear of kidnap. Chai! |

When talking overall security the data is clear that PMB is worse. I'm looking at it from how Boko Haram situation got better slightly. Read my posts from earlier today you will see where I'm coming from. monerozi5590: Nah! Interpret that data very well and you will see clearly.
GEJ....4 years, 34,972 killed PMB....8 years, 63,111 killed. |

Chief check my statement from beginning I never gave Buhari a pass mark on overall security. I said specifically focusing strictly on Boko Haram things improved relatively compared to GEJ. In my initial post I again said PMB's failure regarding banditry, herdsmen, and IPOB overshadowed whatever small progress he recorded dealing with Boko Haram. Segedinho: What are u trying to say bros
Boko boys..herdsmen..iswap,unknown gunmen and whatever are primarily to kill and destroy Nigerians
If Boko was reduced and many others were created, what then are u trying to justify ?

Worst based on what criteria that's the point I keep harping on! I clearly said based on economy Buhari is the worst when I took it to other areas you started saying how everybody built roads like that was what I was asking. It's not about giving flowers it's about facts. Was Second Niger Bridge built? This is something we can all confirm and give answers to. I'm focusing on the Bridge because it's what every politician until recently had been using as campaign point until recently which means it's a consequential project. For your last question let's list the criteria then we will make objective scores on each point to arrive at a general score of who is the worst. izzou: I said Buhari is the worst since 1999. There's nowhere I said he did nothing. Because you wanted to give him small flowers, you said this. I never said so
You agreed with me, but decided to make a path of escape; which obviously isn't part of my discussion..
Obasanjo GEJ Buhari
Rate them from Bad to worse....I'm obviously sure Buhari wins the Ballon D'Worst. |

More people died overall under PMB. Do you have another breakdown for strictly NE? I'm asking based on my initial submission that PMB handled the Boko Haram security situation better and they were operational mostly in the NE area. BlueRayDick: According to ChatGpt, below are the estimate figures for both Jonathan and Buhari's tenures. The figures are for reported deaths ocassioned by Banditary, terrorism, communal violence, etc
ChatGPT gave source of their data o (before somebody will say ChatGpt is not accurate source of data)
PS: The data for Jonathan's tenure spans 5 year period while Buhari's covers the entire 8 years period.. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 11:32am On Oct 04, 2025 |
You notice I never argued with you concerning the banditry or herdsmen issue. I even added the IPOB mishandling matter so this is far from a whitewashing attempt. I'm just highlighting how if we strictly judge his efforts regarding Boko Haram then we can say there was a vast difference between when he got in and when he left. Does that mean Boko Haram is completely eliminated? No. Please for knowledge sharing post the GEJ and PMB security fatalities when you see them. BlueRayDick: The fact is everyone who voted for Buhari instead of Jonathan thought Buhari would resolve the Boko Haram problem and insecurity will be a thing of the past.
But at the end of Buhari's tenure Boko Haram were still operative, ISWAP was operative, the IPOB/unknown gunment issue was there, Fulani Herdsmen issue was prevalent and Banditary in the entire North West became a thing.
I served in the North West during Jonathan's administration and the entire north west was peaceful. People who were victims of Boko Haram in the northeast were brought to the peaceful north west to settle. In the school I served, they brought hundreds of students of unity schools to be absorbed into the system to ensure the kids continue their education.
Guess what happened under Buhari? That particular school I served was attacked by bandits/terrorists under Buhari's government and students plus teachers were kidnapped. They even killed the security operative stationed in the school. Today states like Niger, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara that were free from the Boko Haram madness under Jonathan had been ravaged by Banditary under Buhari's government.
As someone who knows the above, there's no way u can convince me Buhari didn't fail as far as security is concerned. There's no way u will give Buhari a pass where u claim Jonathan has failed security wise because on the overall Buhari wasn't better at all.
Perhaps, one of these days when I'm chanced I will try to dig out data of lives lost to insecurity during both ex-presidents' tenure for us to put to rest this propaganda that Buhari made the country safer. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 11:24am On Oct 04, 2025 |
You claimed PMB was an absolute disaster who did nothing which is why I added the context of infrastructure into the conversation. Yes GEJ and OBJ built some roads but if it was consequential or monumental you would have mentioned it. Plus the loans he took like the one he used build the Lagos-Ibadan rail what alternative financing model do you suggest he should have used in its place? Consequential infrastructure is key to every country's development and GEJ/OBJ don't have been enough of those. For OBJ i can even give him a little pass because it was under him that the LNG train 3 gas project materialized which has added to our revenue. I never claimed Buhari was a great or the best president I'm just advocating for a nuanced conversation where you analysis every aspect of a president's tenure. OBJ for instance was a great economic driver who worked to ensure our debts were cancelled but we shouldn't forget he failed in other respects. Niger-Delta crisis became full blown under Obasanjo. People died in multiple religious riots under OBJ, Massive corruption of NASS started under OBJ. Political assassination nko? Sham elections that results will be announced while polls are still ongoing. GEJ good democrat who improved our electoral process yet ruined our economy that reserves were depleted with no noticeable infrastructural investment in sight. Boko Haram became a monster under him. So depending who you ask anyone can say can give their own opinion which is why criteria for passing judgment is important if not I can also say Abacha and Buhari were better than OBJ and PBAT respectively because price of fuel and foodstuff was cheaper in their tenure. izzou: Let me first exclude the part where he used loans from start to finish.
Can we agree that there roads were OBJ did, and GEJ, and then Buhari did?
Or are you saying nobody tarred 1 km of road from 1999 till now?
Or should we say Buhari did not do any road, since Tinubu is doing East West road, Damaturu to Maiduguri, and Enugu to Onitsha?
The issue of selling infrastructure through roads doesn't really weigh much. Everybody will do and go..
That said, is this the only reason why Buhari is better that others? Ruined the economy and security, but he did one rail and roads? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 10:13am On Oct 04, 2025 |
If we're judging strictly on economy PMB was a complete disaster followed by GEJ who depleted reserves despite record revenues from crude oil made during his tenure. Now you judge based on infrastructure who built the most start to finish? For me off the top of my head Second Niger Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan rail, Itakpe-Warri Rail, Kaduna-Abuja Rail (carveat GEJ started it), refurbished Lagos-Ibadan express, plus others happened under PMB. How many did OBJ and GEJ do? izzou: What exactly makes him better than Obasanjo and GEJ? Let me use people who served more than 4 years?
I said he's the worst since 1999. So what exactly makes him better than any of the two?
Clear my doubts, if you think I'm just hanging a bad name on it |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 10:02am On Oct 04, 2025 |
Yes GEJ started the offensive against Boko Haram using mercenaries but it was under PMB that Boko Haram was seriously degraded. Under GEJ suicide bombings, capture of multiple towns village was almost a weekly headline. This trend slowed down considerably under PMB. Yes it took a while but the situation though not perfect is not as bad as it was under GEJ. Remember it was during PMB that Shekau died? Yes the military may not have been directly been responsible for his death but obviously the pressures and constant bombardments caused issues between ISWAP and the Shekau group. Borno is still not completely terrorist free however things are better compared to GEJ times. This doesn't cancel the fact that PMB dropped the ball woefully on the IPOB and Banditry/Herdsmen issue. BlueRayDick: Nobody is calling a dog a bad name just to kpai it.
Yes when Buhari became president they went on offensive against Boko Haram but the truth is Boko Haram was never obliterated despite the Nigerian army military successes.
That was when "technically defeated" came into our military vocabulary. Initially Buhari government presented an image of Boko Haram threats being neutralized then they doubled down and said they were technically defeated. Don't forget Shekau was making videos mocking the Nigerian state.
Let's not also forget ISWAP came into the picture during Buhari's tenure and other insecurity challenges followed suit. Today Boko Haram is still operative in the northeast and one of the reasons why people talking about genocide against Christians and non-muslims are not totally off the mark.
If we measure what Buhari and APC promised in 2014/2015 promised against the current reality is, u will arrive at an unbiased unanimous conclusion that things have not turned out to be better for Nigeria before APC took over as far as insecurity is concerned security wise. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 9:03am On Oct 04, 2025 |
I'm not a fan of PMB but let's not completely call a dog a bad name to kill it. Yes Boko Haram is still a problem however the situation under Buhari improve compared to when GEJ was in charge. And as bad as Buhari was some of the Chibok girls were rescued/released. His mishandling of the IPOB situation and complete failure to address the banditry/killer herdsmen issue nullified whatever progress he made in reducing the effectiveness of Boko Haram in the NE. As per being appointed to negotiate on behalf of Boko Haram I remember Buhari rejecting their advances which led to them almost killing him in Kaduna so make of it what you will. izzou: Nobody can whitewash that tenure. That has to be the worst we have had since 1999. |
