Gakpo?😂
Get serious please
And for the unpteenth time, Antony was less than 40m at the time of initial enquiries
The fact that y’all paid 82m is because completing transfers is rocket science for the useless club we all support🤝
He wasn't. He fits into the profile of players we already had in abundance. Sancho, Rashford, Garnacho. All better playing from the left. Garnacho looks good so far on the right but still not totally convinced cuz his shot power on the left is weak. But he's doing a job.

Makes me remember what Ole said about Sancho totally preferring to play from the left. Made things complicated.

It's just unfortunate Antony ended up a bum. Most times you can't predict these things.

If we had the funds, we'd have gone for Caicedo. Imagine the tears now. But man looked like a sure banger in any team. Now he looks like someone playing with construction boots.

Btw, I went on and on about how injuries has ruined things for us this season, but na soso Ten Hag out, Ten Hag out.

Now that we finally have players back, we're finally winning games and actually deserving the victories.

Good to see.

Stop repeating the same nonsense na. When ETH heard the club wanted to buy his former player for 100m, why didn't he resist? Or its not his money, e no concern am? Abi he was not aware of the transfer until he suddenly saw Antony at Carrington?

There are some other idiots involved in this transfer, but accept ETH own first
At this point na to dey repost old stuff. No fit dey repeat the same thing 100 times.

Even the ones wey get stats dey cast, you come carry significant amount of your budget buy the one wey no get anything tangible

I guess Hojlund was a huge bum then. Cuz how striker go get 7 goals lmao.

Dey there dey look for youngster with 50 goals.

Why won't you loan players when you spend your budget on bums like Antony and Mount? If the money was spent wisely, we won't need to loan players like Amrabat.
Bro, I can't be repeating the same thing.

There's a reason we're not trying to build up a football structure unlike before. Ten Hag is not Paul Mitchell. Klopp is not Dan Ashworth. The players they are actually able to access are very limited.

It's just a pity we're finally fixing things after wasting millions.

What are you saying naa?

How can you spend a large percentage of your budget on a promising player that has no output (your exact words)

You're just repeating the same thing while twisting my words. I said Ajax was a very promising player. The only thing y'all had against him was the stats.

Apparently, there are no options when it concerns manchester united. LFC wanted Caceido, but got someone else as they couldn't get him. But when its Manchester United, there are no options
.
Lmao just buttressing my point. Na Ten Hag scout for options too?

Let me even add. These fools were actually negotiating deals with options in mind. But they were so certain of getting Antony, they left it late without really looking at options.

One would think ETH has not bought/loaned over 10 players. Because we are focusing on Antony, they think we have forgotten
Most loan players end up beind mid. There's a reason they're available for loan. So let's not start padding list to push agenda.

So if Ajax wanted 500m for Anthony, we should probably have sold old Trafford to finance the deal all because "it was too late into the transfer window to pull out"?

Please make it make sense to me
Let's talk sensible things abeg. They asked for an amount the best promising players were going for. We wouldn't have paid that if we had gone into negotiations sensibly with options available.

Resources, in this context, means funds...

ETH spent a considerable chunk of our budget on a player who in your words, was largely unproven and lacked output

Make it make sense to me please
Why are y'all ignoring the timeline of events?

At the point we went in for Antony, he was still seen as a decently priced addition to the team.

It was too late into the transfer window before we actually realized he was going to be super expensive.

At that point what was he supposed to do?

As against getting who?
Let’s not all pretend like we didn’t want Antony then and he was rated decently
The fact that he cost that much is only on the useless business that has become the club’s trademark
Like I don't understand. It's so clear.

Like we all wanted Antony. Only began to show skepticism when it became obvious we were going to overpay. But who was the option then?

At that point, if we went for ordinary chukwueze, they'd have asked for 60m. It was very obvious to everyone we were desperate.

ETH,the manager of man UTD, was aware of the available budget, yet approved that a considerable part of it be spent on a "highly rated upcoming winger. The type you'd say has the qualities but didn't have the stats" (your exact words)....

If a manager cannot optimize available resources at his disposal, what then is he "managing"?

There is no spinning away from this - ETH has been extremely wasteful in the TWs and it all boils down to one thing - man is clueless!
Manage which resources? The same one we all agreed needed to be totally disbanded. The same one we said needed open heart surgery?

All of these is because Antony failed. He'll be facing the same shit if Hojlund was failing in similar fashion.

It's easy to say all these shit now. But imagine a new manager taking on that squad that everyone tagged absolutely useless.

Meanwhile, Garnacho is providing the perfect response to ChristoBam's question earlier.
Which question?

Let's rewind to August 2022 and tell me who tf was going to ignore an Antony deal and decide to instead rely on an academy player with zero premier league minutes.

Cuz some of una on this thread sometimes ehhn. Which question.

Who the fvck inherits the worst United team in recent history in terms of performance and decide the addition of an academy player should be enough up front

And he decided to blow 100milla on what you described above even when funds were kinda limited?
.
He didn't blow 100m. Murtough and co did. He needed a left footed right winger badly. They delayed negotiations till really late. I think we had even started the season before they got close to agreeing a deal.

At this point, it was either we brought in an Antony (that looked like a really good winger ready to make the next step) or we stuck with Rashford and co. You need to remember they all looked like bums then. We literally wanted the whole team disbanded then.

You were the one asking us who should replace Rashford and now you are asking who should replace Antony...If ETH did not play Garnacho, we would be here thinking it's only Rashford we have got as an option on the LW.

Amad is there, even Garnacho is an option as is Rashford...We must not get stuck with players who are performing poorly...
The problem with most of you is y'all just throw out statements and judgements without trying to consider the difficult decisions the manager is faced with.

So you're telling me a new manager should rely on
*Rashford (just after a terrible season),
*Garnacho(a youngster who has no experience with zero epl minutes) or Amad? Like are you joking?

In a job that you could get sacked after a month. Try to look at things from other's perspectives.

Except that ETH coached Antony and should have asked the club to pull out of the deal knowing too well that Antony was not worth the money...

Let's even forget about the amount paid and consider the qualities of the players, for a manager who spoke about ending the era of dominance of Liverpool and City, how exactly do players like Mount and Antony help his course...
Let's not start this please. Pull out of the Antony deal and use pellestri or wetin?

You expected him to have stuck to the same ones that failed Ole and Rangnick back to back?

Ajax fans all over especially that Europeanlad on Twitter were crying all over that Antony deal. He was highly rated. He obviously couldn't make the next step.

He bought him cuz at the point he left, he was a highly rated upcoming winger. The type you'd say has the qualities but didn't have the stats.

As for Mount, hasn't the guy been injured most of the season? So what're you on about?

Na ETH buy Maguire?

The one that bought Maguire couldn't bench him. Remember we used to call for him to be benched and captaincy stripped.

You can't spend 100m on a player and then bench him permanently. Btw, you're even approaching this discussion like Antony is staying games. Antony is literally a bench player.

So what's been said is to almost permanently bench an 100m signing. Jokes.

While your point seems logical and partly true but anyone who followed Pep right from Barca days know say him no send anyone papa. Whether you're 100m, big player or 10m, if you no perform the way he expects you to perform, bench things.

It's easier for him because he's a serial winner which cover up a lot of things at the end of the day and not necessarily because of the war chest he's enjoying.
You can't be limited to about 150m-200m per year with an already terrible team and then say you'll bench an 100m signing permanently. Like I don't care who you are, you can't do it.

If Pep was here, all that arrogance go turn to humility.

Klopp has not made such a mistake...If you Nunez you are talking about then, he might not be clinical but he is sure to keep the opposition defenders on their toes for the entirety of a match.

Arteta and ETH have other options so, I don't get why they must stick to the players they brought in who have thus far underperformed.
You think he wouldn't make the mistake if he was at United?

This is why I used to go on about structure structure structure, to the extent that guys on here troll me consistently. You can't have the likes of Omar, Ashworth and then make mistakes like Antony.

So if you have clowns in charge and they go on to negotiate a 100m deal for a player like Antony and he ends up being a bum. What can you really do?

One of the worst mistakes we've ever made was hiring Ten Haag.

This man scammed us. With 9 minutes of extra time, there was no need removing our only attacking life line in Garnacho. He was the only one capable of starting our counter or causing problem for the opponents. Yet this idîot removed him and packed defenders everywhere.

We're just lucky to win this one after missing plethora of chances. And Antony is nothing but an idìot. Ten Haag needs to be sacked for just signing that fool.
Imagine this comment after a good victory away at Wolves. You'd think Wolves is Luton or something. Very difficult team to beat away and they've also kinda been our boogey team for years.

Seems the default settings for some of you is to scream for the manager's sack every game.

Seunpapa65:
New Manchester United Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada used Harry Maguire as an example of how not to do transfer business during his column with the Athletic.

The former City CFO stated, “when you make investments of that type [rushing to sign a player], when you get it wrong it has a significant impact over many years so we needed to get it [Dias’ transfer] right at the right valuation at the right time but more importantly for the right player”.

“In the same way that we didn’t rush into buying a centre-back last season after not wanting to sign Maguire for that valuation, this summer we had a very clear idea of what we wanted and fortunately we got the player we wanted at the valuation that we wanted”.

Moving on from Omar's words, from a fan perspective, You don’t need to be a football finance expert to know that a major flaw of the Old Trafford side’s post-Ferguson era is panic buying players for an obscene amount of money.

Maguire is an obvious example but the £70m on Casemiro after chasing Frenkie de Jong all summer has already been flagged up by INEOS and they may even be willing to lose £20m to part ways with the midfielder.

Antony is another ludicrous example of panic overpaying for a player. Club scouts labelled the player as a £25m player but United went on to panic at the end of the 2022 window and pay an eye-watering £82.2m to get the deal over the line.

#PremierLeague
I hope we get it right this time with transfer
If we dig deep into the operations of the club last 10 years or so, you'd understand the reason this club is a death trap for any manager. I don't care how good you are. You come here, you fail.

The structure we've been shouting about for years is finally being built. And it's looking more impressive than we ever imagined.

*Sir Dave Brailsford as Sports Director for inneos.
* Omar as CEO
* Dan Ashworth as football director
*Hopefully Paul Mitchell as head of recruitment.

If this gets matched with good investments, even average managers will thrive.

How can a sane person quote a question and not post the answer.

Its simple what makes Omar Berrada a football CEO and not Woodward
What makes David Gill a football CEO and not Ed Woodward given both backgrounds
There are many successful clubs with non footballing CEOs

I know how this will end, AFter Omar does not offer any improvement, the end it will be its not just the CEO its Glazer. Glazer must go like say the money Glazer is spending will be blue and the money Saudi is spending will be yellow
All I see is ramblings from a bitter opposition fan. More of hoping things will fail rather than banking on a past event that can point to this.

Woodward is an established failure as a football CEO. It'll take an high level of delusion to even argue against this.

You don't need a solid background in football to be a good CEO. Can we appoint someone without it and actually be able to turn things around? Definitely!

But it's definitely far better to appoint someone with a good history of doing what is needed at the club. We are at a point we can take Zero risks. Everything has to work.

Woodward is not a football CEO and Omar is based on evidence. One tried it out and failed massively. The other has worked in similar capacity and is a success. It's not rocket science.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 11:32pm On Jan 23, 2024
One of the first major transfers under Woodward was Fellaini.

Man was available for a certain amount on a release clause but we somehow didn't make the signing until deadline day. Meaning we had to pay extra millions.

That type of uselessness when it comes to transfer negotiation became a norm until today.
