I am from Imo but my goats are coming to Badagry and the South West areas. Will get pure boers once the farm is setup. For now ill stick with hybrids.
felixzo1:
I got your email, and have replied you.how are your goats adapting to change in environment from the north to IMO state. I had a bad experience trying to set up a goat farm in the East with northern breeds, most of them could not survive after a couple of months , diarrhea was rampant. adapting to a new feed apart from the dry grass they were use to was a problem. grasses in the East had too most moisture the goats could handle, higher humidity was also a challenge, this was noticed in the way they breathed and a lot of respiratory diseases.

felixzo1:
Starting a goat farm

This strategy will work for a person staying in a small town or in a village or, anyone who has access to natural pastures and a good security around his farm/house. This method is stall feeding / semi intensive. A first of all the area of 1 acre should be fence to prevent thieves and intruders, (bad belle people and saboteur) if blocks are used for the fence it will be more expensive, wooden fence or a wire mesh fence will work out cheaper. The capacity of the goat house should will vary, according to your stocking capacity, (bear in mind that in 2 years each goat will have 6 kids at least) so when you are starting with 10 matured doe (female goats) you should build a structure capable of housing 60 goats, so as not to have to build a new structure every year. The structure should have a platform especially if you stay in high rainfall areas. (See attached photos for samples) the idea is to gradually upgrade the genetic of our local breed to standard size goats (crossbreeding) for profitability. Bear in mind keeping only local goat will not be profitable in a commercial goat farm (cost of maintenance, management, feeding, housing) the strategy involves get a matured female local goats (Nigerian dwarf, sokoto red etc) that has kidded at least twice and has reached a fully matured body size and weight (this is to prevent kidding problems due to huge kids) and crossing it with a buck (male goat) of 50%boargoat/local breed. The offspring of your local goats will be 25%boargoats/75% boar goats. (This crosses breeding will be done systematically until you reach pure breed status which is above 6 years. Contact me for more information on this if interested) for example if you started with 10 local female goats and one crossbred male goat( upgrading accordingly, keeping all the female goats and selling the males only and always using higher genetics for each offspring) by the 7th or 8th year under good management. You will have more than 500 pure exotic breed goats capable of weighing a 100kg ( selling above 50,000 each) each. Please note that success comes with planning, patience and focus. ( this is a challenge to all the unemployed youths, you can start with just 5 female goats and grow)
Questions and comments are welcome. If will give more information if asked. My next write up will be on feeding in stall fed goats and management. And how to get a loan from bank of Agriculture for your start up a farm.

Christianity EtcRe: Home Of Atheists, Freethinkers, Agnostics. by chriswu(m): 1:31pm On Apr 18, 2018
First of all, it is practically impossible for the Ark to have existed due to many reasons.
1. Animals wouldn't get along. If you had the lions in one cage and the yaks in another, it would spell mental disaster for both species. One is thinking of eating the other and the other is having a fit, thinking about dying.
2. Unresponsiveness of animals. Simple question. How would they have coerced a t rex into a box?Lol
3. Laws of nature. A wooden structure in high wind and waters will twist and there would have been lots of racking. If humans could build such a boat, they would have built it in the slave trade era
4. Ammonia build up. With animals comes waste. Who cleaned all the waste if there was only one family
5. Fish. So the fish in the water also drowned?
6. Birds, couldn't they hop on the Ark and hide out outside in its corners?
7. Realistically speaking how were the animals being fed? What animal was killed to feed the lions, tigers, jaguar
8. Hemophilia .in humans, having sex in closely related individuals led to hemophilia.it was prevalent in the royal family. Numerous diseases from inbreeding are noticed in Asian communities too. Also in pure and line bred pedigree dogs, horses , cows. So did God stop hemophilia for the rapid reproduction in Noahs lineage to occur?
This are my basic thoughts not copied . If i have answers to this I will believe there was an ark. This is what freethinking is about
There is God? ..what I wanna know is where he came from.

Plus many of the bible stories sound like Fairy tales...

I opened a thread last year asking how it was possible for Noah to gather all the animals in the world and fit them into that ark... but no one could explain

I am openly non religious. My wife is same and we are happy. No big deal. But if i were in Nigeria, wouldn't that result in religious ones in the family taking a whipping from the judgmental public?
Decades of brainwashing has eroded our ability to think for ourselves. If there is an atheist/free thinking group that isn't focused on religous arguments but on charitable ideas, volunteering, etc . I'll like to be part of that.

PetsRe: Is It Advisable To Cross A GSD With A Nigerian Local Dog Or Basenji by chriswu(m): 8:42am On Apr 06, 2018
register kini?lol the dogs in Nigeria or ill say Lagos are not qualified to be called anything asides mutts. you might get basenji in the internal villages and even salukis and dogs similar to the rajapalayam. but no one will register a mutt. if you do a genetic testing on the street dogs you'll be surprised that some even have gsd and other breeds far back in their lineage.
Ibukin:
don't cross her with anoda breed.Soon those local dog's will be register with kennel club and if cross with another breed it can cause some problems when she want to give birth i.e difficulty in giving birth.

RomanceRe: Black Guys Would You Date An Arab Girl ? by chriswu(m): 10:57am On Feb 08, 2018
It all comes down to culture and tradition. Let's start with whites. In Canada and some part of Europe (before the refugee crises), there was no stigma in dating blacks because all the blacks came as doctors etc but in the US, with its slave history, there is lot of stigma about black people even when we are successful. Same goes with Arab countries. An Arab country that prides itself with being superior wouldn't accept interracial marriage. Same way Isreal etc hates it. But if you take away the influence of friends , family, culture or religion and put a bunch of only young successful black and Arab people together, they will have wonderful intermingled and date. I know quite a number of Indian ladies that like black men and my wife is Asian..but culturally uhm it's a no no

AgricultureRe: I Need A Boer Goat Breed by chriswu(m): 9:57am On May 17, 2017
I believe it is 6000rand to import a goat. thats for the crate. meanwhile you can have two inside. a young boer kid in south africa goes for 300 to 700 rand depending on the pedigree. You could contact a dealer. Slimbone Lanre brings in dogs and he should be able to bring in Kids. +2348034245747

Hello, do you have here in Nigeria? Mind selling some to me?
Hello Chicwoman. i would have if i was in Nigeria though. Will try to bring it on a trip home and see how that pans out but if one makes a trap bucket you might be able to get some. FIll up and inverted bucket with food and holes on the side. place it down and place a stone on it in a damp area in a farm which hasnt had fertilizer applied to it and you will get a good number of worms.
