I've been hearing about people sleeping off on the wheels while driving and crashing their vehicles. Some of them lost their lives to such accidents. In all of these, I have never experienced it. Anyways, today I had mine but luckily it was in traffic and as such the damage was very minor. I had the music playing high enough but my windows were shut cos the ac was on. I didn't know when I dozed off until the bang from hitting the car in front of me, woke me up. I quickly put the car in park and came down to see if the damage was much and also apologized to the man in front. I explained to him that I dozed off and just gave him a pat on the back as I said sorry. The wife was asking me if everything was okay(in a compassionate manner) and I told her I was fine. I felt embarrassed in a way as I got back to my car... Couple of people in the hood who knows me and were passing at the time too, were signaling to me from their cars to ask if everything was okay... Anyway, I was lucky I wasn't on a high way when I dozed off cos I probably wouldn't have been alive to create this thread...lol. If you have been unfortunate to sleep off while driving, share your experiences and let's laugh a bit. |
What exactly has the idiot called buhari, done differently since he came into power? Nothing. As a matter of fact, insecurity has worsened seriously and has become a way of life in Nigeria. We are now getting used to hearing about the activities of bandits, terrorists and herdsmen every where and it no longer surprises us. At this rate, the country will soon be like Libya. |
Hmmm |
Good. Whoever wins must win fair and square. |
Inferno001:Thanks. I saw the video of the swat training and it looked like a scene from the popular sitcom "papa ajasco and company". |
Yebosola:Some of us will remember and we will bring it to the memories of Nigerians. We will play his tape when the time is right. |
mcmauray:Don't waste your time man. Lots of airhead on this forum. |
The morons who claim no one was killed at the protest ground, should actually hide their faces in shame. See how the army has consistently changed their position from claiming its officers were not there, to agreeing they were called in by the Lagos state government, to claiming they fired blank bullets... Eventually, the truth will come out. It's only a matter of time. |
I said this was going to happen |
This is what happens when you have a population of hungry unemployed youths in tens and hundreds of millions. |
Looks like these idiots have never heard of rubber bullets and tear gas. Why must they always use live ammunition all the time? Policing is not all about shooting AK47 every time. You can break up protest without shooting people with live bullets. |
adadike:Thank you. |
Pecuman:It sure did happen. |
flokii:Dj switch didn't give anyone fake news. I watched her ig live where they were attending to several people with gunshot wounds and trying to even remove bullets from people's bodies. We could hear the loud sound of continuous gun shot at the background. It was a chaotic scene. You people should not come and tell us what we saw live with our eyes is a lie. |
Oizee:Simple fact that most people fail to realize. Those protesting didn't even have the strength to go destroy anything. Govt should be blamed for allowing it deteriorate to this level. This is why good leadership is very important. For those asking if the protest has ended: it doesn't make sense to continue it when hoodlums are using it as an opportunity to destroy people's properties and also burning down police stations and attempting to release prisoners from prison. The whole place had slided into anarchy and it's only wise that everyone sits back and allow peace and calm to reign. The one thing I learnt from this whole thing is that government should never allow any issue degenerate into a situation where people take arms against the government cos they would just burn down the whole country in less than a month. The amount of destruction I have seen so far is alarming and that's just criminals taking advantage of the situation. Also, these hoodlums and uneducated folks need to be properly educated by govt so as to forestall a repeat of this kind of thing. Programs for free adult education must be drawn up and ways of delivering them to these people must be devised. An educated mind would most likely not get involved in such destruction. |

A lot has gone wrong in the nation in the past few weeks and Nigerians all over have had to deal with so much. I have become overwhelmed with the consumption of too many negative news. Videos of dead youths from across the country, killed by the nation's security forces. Videos of mob carrying out jungle justice on errant policemen said to have fired live bullets on protesters, videos of arson on a large scale, etc. I wanted to write this piece yesterday but I thought it expedient that I wait for Buhari' s speech hoping that it would touch on the critical issues, and calm nerves. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bloody waste of time as his speeches has always been. While I wasn't expecting so much from him, I was a bit expectant given the situation of things on ground. That being said, I'd go straight to a few points that I intend for us to know. Fact: there's no doubt that the protesters who had gathered in their thousands at the lekki toll gate, had the right to protest peacefully. There's also no doubt that the ensuing traffic caused by the shutting down of the toll gates, took its toll on businesses and so many other things. My own business was seriously affected but I had to suck it up as my own contribution. Sometimes, we need a bit of sacrifice if we truly desire true change. In general, the protest was relatively peaceful until the government came in. Fact: government at both state and federal levels are complicit in derailing the whole thing cos the movement was gathering momentum that they didn't expect. It started with thugs attacking peaceful protesters in Abuja, Lagos and Benin which were the hotbeds of the protest. I saw videos of thugs gathered around a police woman in Abuja and in that video, the person recording was saying it appeared they were being given instructions. I saw a video of thugs entering a prado jeep with a man in suit that looks like a security operative coordinating them. There was another video of a man on mufty, looking like a thug, wielding a tavor 21 bullup assault rifle. This is the one that shook me most. That rifle is mainly used by the DSS and special forces of the Nigerian army. I want to for the sake of God believe that the thuggish looking chap is actually a security operative and not a political thug. Such a grade A assault rifle in the hands of thugs, is not what we want to imagine. We all know the level of destruction herdsmen and boko haram do with the regular Ak47 rifle. That being said, we heard protesters telling us in the videos they recorded that govt was sending thugs to attack them and this played out in Abuja, Lagos and Benin. In Benin, a young man was killed and his body was dumped at the government house by the youths. In all of these, none of the govt in charge have been able to produce the people who attacked the protesters. Fact: there were cases of youths/hoodlums attacking policemen on Tuesday around areas like Mushin, orile, and Co and from videos, we gathered that policemen had shot people, hence the attack on these places. It is important that we realize that there are different categories of youths in the country and we can not expect them to all behave in the same way. The enlightened would be civil while the uneducated amongst them would be violent. In crisis like this, you should expect such behavior from the uneducated. One reoccurring factor that ignited crisis in most places, is the fact that policemen shot people. The whole protest stemmed from unprofessional practice of the police force. The government needs a total overhaul of the Nigerian police if it truly wants to put an end to issues like this and it should not be just by issuing orders at the top but making sure that these orders are diligently carried out. Fact: the lekki shooting at 7pm. The turning off of lights and removing of cctv cameras as reported, had a sinister motive. If the LCC claim they didn't take away the cctv cameras, then they have to produce footage of what transpired there that night. People were shot at and killed there that night. I watched the live video of how dj switch and others were trying to help injured protesters. At some point, they were trying to take out bullet from somebody's body and we were hearing the gunshots. We saw the blood and we saw other injured people on ground. We saw videos of the army trucks approaching the venue and shooting. For the army to deny ever being there, it shows they are actually guilty of committing crime crimes of killing unarmed people. The governor of Lagos already implicated them by saying they were supposed to go there by 10pm not 7pm. Other reports claim dead bodied were taken away by the army which we cannot confirm. Fact: the denial by the army high command that its soldiers were not there, the claim by the army spokesperson that the videos we saw were all doctored, and the president's intentional ommission of that event in his speech is a clear sign that the government does not intend to visit the issue and nobody is going to get punished for the events of that night. I'd advise we all move on from it. Anarchy: I noticed that most states were the governors issued curfews, people were not obeying it as police stations were being burnt businesses destroyed and govt properties being razed to the ground. The level of destruction I have seen in the past few days gives me worries about what the country would look like if we ever become unfortunate to allow the situation degenerate into an armed crisis. In less than a month, the country would be razed down and this is something we must never allow no matter our greviances with the govt or system. The govt needs to realize the amount of destruction millions of uneducated, unemployed and unengaged angry youths can cause and should do everything within its power, diplomatically to not allow things get to that crescendo. Corruption: corruption has eaten into our system so much that even traditional rulers have lost their conscience. How do we explain the fact that a traditional ruler hoarded Covid-19 relief materials that should have been shared to his subjects? The Lagos state government has cleared the air on the Covid-19 relief materials that were looted in one of its warehouses but a greater level of awareness should be created going forward. Victory: the Nigerian youths would emerge out of this crisis as the victor. We now have an idea how the government sees us and it's in our best interest that we start working tirelessly and assiduously to ensure that we do not enthrone inept leaders going forward. We have proven to government that we would no longer tolerate the status quo where a culture of leadership failure across boards in federal, state, local government levels as well as at the legislative and judicial arms of government, is sustained and enshrined as a way of life without being questioned. We must keep up the pressure in a civil manner that does not derail the progress we have made so far. The military belongs to the government but true power belongs to the people and we must use that power positively to create the Nigerian of our dreams. This is the time to get each and every one of us to get our arses off the chair and go register in the major political parties so we can have a voice and playing pivotal roles in choosing who and who becomes the party flag bearers in different political offices ahead of the 2023 general elections. That is the only way we can flush out the criminals and failures that are representing us on different levels. You can't change this system from outside as an observer. We have to go in there, plant our own people there, finance them and support them. We have to take away the party structures from those currently controlling them. Every group that makes up the party structure has to be populated by young people so we can have an overriding power in the decision making processes from the grassroots to the federal level. If we don't do that, they'd continue to screw us in the arse for as long as they can. Since the infamous uninspiring presidential speech of last night, I have been seeing on social media how almost everyone is talking about wanting to leave the country due to the disappointment of that speech. That is exactly what the powers that be want to achieve. They want us to lose hope and allow the status quo be. They don't want us to challenge the current structure and by losing hope and running away from the country, we'd be giving them that power. We also would be betraying the comrades who took bullets for us on 20-10-2020 and on other days. They put their lives on the line out there that in the process that they are killed, the rest of us would continue the struggle until we achieve a better Nigeria. If they knew we would cave in at the first hurdle facing us, they probably would have stayed out in their respective homes and would be managing their lives just like we do. We must not let that sacrifice be in vain. We are not better than them. We must see that the process for a better Nigeria is not dampened and allowed to go cold. We need to keep up the pressure peacefully and in a civil manner. We have succeeded in drawing international attention to our plight; this is not the time to fizzle out and go cold. Crisis management and way forward: true reconciliation can only be achieved when all parties are sincere and the truth is established. In the absence of this, trust is eroded. The Nigerian government and the army should please tender an unreserved apology to the youths for the killings of 20-10-2020 even if they do not intend to give justice as it's evident from the way they have conducted themselves so far. Let this be a first step in the process of achieving peace going forward. Government has to diplomatically de-escalate rising tension without the use of force. I have seen videos of a few units of soldiers dialoguing with citizens peacefully in areas where they were deployed to and it was heart warming as it helped them build significant trust with the citizenry. Not every fiery problem requires force. This tactical approach of dialogue is what should be adopted in as many places as possible. If the shooting didn't occur that night, we would not have witnessed the level of destruction we have seen so far. As youths too, let's try our best in calming fiery minds around us and let everyone give peace a chance. Yes we are angry and want to challenge the government but a Nigeria that burns into ashes profits nobody in the long run. I hope this inspires hope and a desire to achieve peace amongst us. Long live the federal republic of Nigeria. |

SalamRushdie:Amen |
This is a prayer for all those who have a hand in tonight's massacre. From those who planned it to those who executed it, none shall escape the consequences. As you have cut down the lives of the innocent, so shall your own generation be cut down/short. Your children will never live old enough to the age of the young innocent lives you have cut down today. If they are up to those ages, they will not live more than those ages. When you all die, your bodies will not be seen to bury. They will be devoured by dogs on the streets. Let the air that you breathe, the ground that you walk on and the water that you drink and bathe with, bear witness against you all. So long as you all were born by a woman, this curse shall not pass you by and so shall it be, amen!!! |
cynthia9:You see Ekpoma, upper sapkomba and uselu boys with ekosidin boys ehn, no try them. |
Lies. The videos we saw on social media about it depicts something entirely different. We could clearly hear protesters saying policemen attached to the governor fired live bullets at the people. How come there is no video of you being with them live on ground and protesting with them until you were attacked? |
Buratai wants Buhari to give him go ahead to deploy soldiers to end the protest? Make una try am first. Na there real revolution go start from. Those of us wey never join, go finally join. What manner of nonsense from an uncircumcised philistine! Who born you? |

Reading about the gesture of the Oyo state government has really upset my morning and it further lends credence to the same old belief held that Nigerian leaders are the same irrespective of political parties. Shame on Governor Seyi Makinde of the PDP for releasing 100m naira for the renovation of the palace of the Soun of Ogbomosho and a meagre 1m each to the families of the slain victims. Shame on the Soun of Ogbomosho if he collects that money to rebuild that palace while the families of the dead are given just a paltry 1m naira. Makinde's actions shows what he considers as more important and as far as I am concerned, he doesn't deserve to be a governor if this is the kind of decision he wants to be taking. Half of that money should be given to the victims of the violence and you can give the rest to the palace. Things will never change if we allow things to continue like this. When we say we want a change of government, we want young people to get into power with fresh ideas and new ways of doing things. We do not want young people to get into power and do things the way the older generation have behaved. We need to put to a stop, the leadership style where our leaders are living like emperors and the people are living like slaves. We are not asking for the continuation of bad habits of old men by young men. We are asking for a change in the irresponsible style of leadership that has been bequeathed to us by the generation that failed us. We don't want same of the same thing. We don't want old bad wines that do not taste better with age, in new bottles. - Rio Bill$ |

Very laughable but sincerely saddening to see...we don't want them to be taught to fight but to be technically, mentally and emotional equipped for an all round service!!! How do you fight who you can't catch or apprehend?? I still saw individuals with protruding bellies in a "SWAT" training...for heaven sake, we won't get it right until we make electoral positions less attractive financially..when those in authority only have servitude in mind, we will pull this nation out of mediocrity and doom..
