Just seeing your thread

I think breaking the journey would have been lovely since you had your partner with you. You could break the journey at Lokoja or stop at Ekiti and relax a bit.

I do a 5 hour out of Lagos trip frequently and i most of the times use it as an opportunity to explore cities in between the destinations. Even if you leave Lagos by 5am, the construction along the Lagos-ibadan stretch would extend your journey by at least an 1hour 30mins.

Also the stretch from Ibadan to Ekiti isn't really that good with the police check points at almost every 5km. For your own sake, make plenty N100 or N50 changes. If they stop you and nicely ask for Bottle water money.
Abeg give them. Or you could have snacks handy and give it to them. They patched lots of potholes on the road but there are still lots of failed portions so you need to maintain 80 to 100km speeds at most. Lots of peeps fly past me at 120km/hr or even 140km only for you to meet them infront with a burst tyre. Last thing you want is stop to change tyres or driving without a spare with hundreds of km left to cover.

The Ekiti-kabba-okene end is an hilly area and the roads aren't that straight and smooth , so
expect a lot of curves and turns which means you can't maintain maximum speeds.
This would eat into your travel time considerably.

Most hotels outside of Lagos are dirt cheap for a 3 star one. You would get very good ones @ 15k or less with breakfast in most cities outside of Lagos. Breaking your journey helps reduces the need to overspeed or driving long hours at a stretch and most importantly avoiding night travel. Nigerian roads aren't equipped for such.

Google maps is pretty reliable inside of Lagos but once you are in a town/city outside Lagos. Please do not take its advise to follow a shorter route and deviate from the highway. You go lost. Google don go carry me drop for middle of road that was leading to a mountain in Ekiti in the name of finding alternative routes. Lol
dude mind don cut. Not travelling again. On one of my trips from lagos to abuja, google map led me to a stream in kogi.

Lol, I’ve been in a similar situation in Jos also, although mine was just after nasco roundabout, dudes said as long as it’s not factory tint I shouldn’t even have a permit, after dragging for almost an hour,we paid 5k and left, I peeled them off the very next day before I went back to Abuja.
now this is very right. Only cars without factory tint should require a permit. Factory tint should have no business with permit. But we do things anyhow in this country.

The fight has long since become Igbos vs Igbos!

I just hope it's not already too late for you people!!! Such a shame that y'all learnt nothing from the crisis in the North. Such a shame!!!
how can you give what you don't have? MNK will never give peace. Has anyone ever heard peaceful comments from that psycopath? Its always hate, destroy, kill, behead etc. I sit and wonder how we degenerated this much. Someone aptly captured it. Igbo parents are to blame. They have raised a lot of igbo children imbibing hate in them. Telling them north hates them. Yoruba hates them. South south betrayed them. These children have grown up with nothing but hate. Outcome is what we see today.

Why should a CMD run to FGhuh Why is it so difficult for a CMD to know the numbers of Staff under himhuh

What happens to the HODs ..and Ultimately Unit headshuh

These are not rocket science...If CMDs claim they don't know there are ghost workers...They are simply part of the rot.
you don't understand how complex running a system is. A CMD will not know who has left for instance department of internal medicine unless the HOD writes to personnel or the doctor in question resigns. These teaching hospitals are not hospital of staff strength of 20 or 30 people. He wont even know everyone. Until you run a large system, you won't understand. You will need help of staff to know all these. If those staff are compromised, then you won't know what is happening. Management is not abc. Its complex. The corruption tie wrapper. If u are not in the system, you won't know. For instance i know minster of finance will always get confused after hearing that 2000 doctors on their payroll have left the country, then she sends ippis team to verify. Only to get report seeing that no 2000 left. She sends another one ,same thing. Do you know how many times they do verification? They know there is a problem. You can only send humans under your employment to verify. They are all corrupt. Any new team you send sees it as opportunity to make their money. The problem with this country is not the politicians but us. Its easy to apportion blames. The rot is deep.
CMD is employed by FG and will always report to FG.

Exactly why those Administrative Officers should be jailed!

The said Drs can prove their innocence...some can even claim they are not aware money was paid to them.

For me, administrative lapses is the major cause...if Drs approached Accounts for shady deals, why not report..why act it outhuh
exactly. People elope without resigning and continue to earn double salaries and allowances. Is that not greed. You left to a place they pay you 4 to 5 times what you were paid in Nigeria and you still latch on to the Nigerian pay. Now that is the origin of the illegal employment Ngige is talking about. Doctors are eloping in their numbers, but this elopment doesn't reflect in the payroll. The result is that there is increased workload on those present who complain bitterly to the CMDs who in turn see that the work load is much. CMDs in turn cry out to FG to employ more hands because of the increasing workload and the declining number of doctors. However, FG looks at its payroll and sees that there is no declining number of doctors since they are still paying for such numbers who still get verified each time officials are sent to do verification. FG refuses to employ. CMDs out of pressure and to prevent collapse of the hospital now employ. This is the origin of the illegal employment. The rot is just too much. Most of those who have left the country are the ones causing most of the issues and damaging the sector. Not just doctors but nurses and other health workers too. NARD knows this. Some of us are perpetrators too, but the rot is too deep.

Anybody that was paid wrongly and refused to return it should be arrested and jailed. Buh remember, it is the same govt that inserted those names not the Resident Drs thru the cmds. So if they are to arrest, they should start with the minister of health and the ppl incharge, minister of labor and their ppl for not verifying and making payments wrongly. Then go down to the heads of hospital and office of the accountant general and ippis before the Drs that refused to pay back.
easy to say what you dont know. Names smuggled in have nothing to do with minister of labor, health or finance. Corruption is just too much. Let me give you a little insight. Dr. A leaves residency and travels to saudi for greener pastures. He does not resign his job in the hospital in Nigeria. He connives with his Chief resident who still fields his name in the duty roster to look like he is around. Duty roster is submitted to hospital admin. Then Dr. A also connives with bad eggs in the accounts section. As a result his name still remains on payroll. When salary comes, accounts man has a cut. Chief resident has a cut. When there is verification by ippis, the accounts man connives with ippis officials from abuja and everything is covered. Dr. A gets verified even while he is working in saudi. When it's time for residency training fund, same thing happens. Even some consultants smuggle themselves into the list. Now tell me how it becomes the politicians fault. We are very corrupt in this country. People shout corruption when they are not benefitting.

This write up makes no sense,

The questions appear to imply house officers have funds for training but those funds were usurped by residents and consultants

The same House officers that had their salaries scrapped

But residents have been complaining of no funds for their trainings? The problem is that clinical Doctors are not online to respond to this.ARD needs a dedicated communications unit made of staff they pay...That's quite simple enough, pay them with your nationwide dues and let them bring these issues to you and tell them what to explain to the general public
there is a mistake in the article. House officers dont recieve medical training allowance. They meant residents. So substitute house officer with resident in the article. The article is saying that some residents who had left the country before 2020, who had become consultants before 2020, fraudulent applied for the allowance and got, thereby depriving other residents who were rightfully eligible to get the allowance. This is very true. Even for the yet to be paid 2021 allowance, i know 2 consultants in my department who have no business with the fund, but smuggled their names into the list. Hopefully the screening method used will fish them out.
Politics › Re: EFCC May Go After Doctors For Fraudulently Collecting ₦540m Training Allowance by chukel(m): 7:41am On Sep 13, 2021
What the FG said here is very true. However, house officers have no business in this article. They do not receieve medical training allowance. What they meant was residents and not house officers. Most of those who eloped to saudi, uk and other foreign countries prior to 2020 still applied and got the allowance while some of those still present in the country did not get. Even some doctors who had become consultants long before 2020 still fraudulently applied and got. It's even shocking that most of the doctors in saudi still recieve salary till now in Nigeria with the connivance of their various departments and accounts section. It's very unfortunate. The corruption we accuse politicians of is embedded in every fabric of this nation. We as individuals are worse than those in Government.

sounds wonderful. However if you look at the economics of Nigeria today, the 1.8m can't afford him same tokunbo 04 corolla. There is inflation. That 1.8m today is not the same value as 1.8m in 2015. Let's not look at things from a surface value.

Thanks alot. I noticed the factors mentioned with engine ignition/rpm reduced because the temperature is now operates at 80 degree Celsius and my exhaust pipe now looks fired unlike before that is a little black. When I told my current mechanic that my car doesn't have thermostat, he shouted and told me it's a bad practice and who ever advised me earlier is a terrible person.

However, he went ahead to scan my vehicle and noticed my 02 censors needs replacement and the catalyst in the exhaust is bad and may block the exhaust as time goes on. He advised me to get a factory based catalyst but when they priced it at ladipo, my head spin. A whopping amount of 150k. I don tire for car maintenance.
don't worry, na small small. Just keep it your budget. Take it one after the other.

Well said. Op follow this advice and in addition, please buy a 2 cell radiator & remove the thermostat if it is still present. It will make the cooling system better. Since I bought this, get fans working at ignition start and change the water pump, I have add a good experience. I have a good mechanic I can recommend for you to fix your car
ignorance at its peak. Let's see how long this "good" experience lasts. Finally, you go change that engine. You have thoroughly abused that car.
