Mr seun , I was an atheist few years ago ... it all started when I wanted to study the word of God myself (Holy Bible), suddenly I started questioning and my atheism grew fasters with the catalyst of nairaland religions section then I felt i was not alone, fast forward to last year, I went to ekiti state with my dad, then we met a prophetess .. immediately she did her prayer stuff which I didn't even replied with amen, she told us the reason we came and how my dad enemy wanted to kill him 3yrs ago, ( actually 3yrs ago, my dad told us while he was sleeping he felt something strange like a sharp object in his body and immediately he woke up , he had pissed on his body, then he was building a structure in his hometown - he was not okay for like 3 months so he prayed and fasted and he was okay ) so the prophetess said a close relative fired an arrow to him spiritually that "is he the only 1 that will be building houses" .. so after she closed my dad chapter , she told me about not close to God and stuff like that.. my atheism was already fading away ... then she held a bible and a big key (not modern keys) , and inserted the key at the middle of the bible in a way that the key head is outside the bible , then she will hold the key at the top, (the reviewing part outside) and ask questions just like the normal oracle stuff.. she tells the bible to rotate to the right if something is true.. I was shocked .. I kept looking at her hand if she was not the 1 rotating it herself .. she give bible to my dad to hold, and ask questions about the future, in a way like (example : if seun's gf is his real wife , rotate right then she will command it to rotate left again "in Yoruba language" ) and the bible will rotate ... I just kept looking at the bible ..my knowledge in physics could not rescue or tell my why the bible was rotating, I kept my eyes close to it , anytime it's rotate .. ever since then my atheism belief was no where to be found, not that i can't reason logically again but I have evidence of God existence and am still not an extremist.. I pray to God quietly and hope to make heaven, I have stopped questioning and diverted that energy to something else maybe it could help humanity later on..

It's a simple illusion. Stage performing magicians can do more. I agree there is God somewhere. I just think He is personal.

Overtime, I 've noticed religious discussions do not yield anything positive.

Seun, the truth is, no matter how hard you try to convince religious people to think. It would prove abortive, unless they decide on their own to think. The fear of going to hell has held most of them back from using simple logic. I was there once, so I understand.


If you force it, they get defensive and grow resentment towards you. I suggest you let it go.

There is a difference between knowing and predicting. If He knows, that's a certainty. Does He also know if we will choose to repent? Since we have free choice, does He know what choice we would make?

Yes. I know the lamb. Does He also know if we will accept the redemption or not? Because if He knows we will accept it, then no need for hell, we are all certainly going to heaven. If He knows we won't accept it, then it isn't our fault that we sin everyday. He has planned everything beforehand.

I believe you should be expecting that question.

Read your comment again, slowly. If He knows Adam would eat the fruit eventually, of what use is it advising him? If God knows our every move, then the idea of free choice is defeated. We are therefore, robots who carry out the predetermined will of the Father.

There is nothing like secular or gospel. If there is, it's a very thin line between.

Secular songs (like you termed them) tend to glorify the beauty and sexual appeal of the female specie. This is an indirect praise to God, who created women, it's a way of saying, '' God, you created beautiful women, thank you.'' (Wizkid's On top Your Matter)


Gospel songs on the other hand, render direct praise. (Frank Edward's You Too De Bless Me)

Then again, some supposed 'secular' songs give glory to God directly. Beyond surface appraisal. Secular and Gospel songs are the same. (Korede's Godwin juxtaposed with Frank Edward's Okaka)

Many people feel society should let people believe whatever they want to believe and not bother them as long as they are not imposing their beliefs on others. I disagree. All beliefs should be fair game for criticism, mockery and objective testing so that they can be abandoned if they are shown to be wrong. There should be no sacred cows because every wrong belief can cause harm.

Sire, I beg to differ. Seeking to mock and debase the religious choice or belief of others is a form of discrimination on it's own. I understand your scientific stance and propagation of a rational belief system. I think you shouldn't overlook the emotional effects of outright mockery of ones belief.

Not every belief has to have a science backed proof. Science itself is considered by many as a form of religion on its own, propagating science based beliefs is akin to forced indoctrination. We have come past that.
