Hello Profs and everybody. Been reading a lot and i must say that i am very thankful for the job you guys a doing here. my situation is I have been a regular Uk and US traveller, I got my 5 years visa renewed in 2010 and its supposed to expire next month. however in 2013 i got a student visa to study for my MSc. I just returned last year. My younger sisters graduation is in December and my whole family wants to attend. we would like to apply for a 2 year instead. My dad insisted that since he is the one sponsoring the family and we making it as a family application he would use his account and frankly i do not have a problem with it because my account is not in the best shape due to irregular salary payments deductions etc. i also work as a civil servant in a fed govt parastatal. and earn almost 300k my question is 1. apart from letter of introduction, leave letter, appointment letter, posting letter do i also need to submit my ID card and letter from the accounts department confirming my salary ? 2. I would not be submitting my account statement to avoid rejection due to irregularities on my salary payment and the low balance due to other commitments. hope my job details is enough ties to my home country. 3. my five years visa will expire late next month and we want to schedule the interview for this month. hope thats not a problem? Thank you guys. |
worry359:I do not think this is a right answer. His dad can pay for his travel regardless. It has worked for numerous people. Even the unemployed. |
Say No to discrimination of any kind. RIP |
The lad is still making music, selling out shows and is still in demand both locally and internationally. While people are busy hating and typing how bad his music is. Kudos wizkid it's not easy to maintain relevance like you have done in the industry. |
I was having lunch with a couple of colleagues from work here in the UK. Seated on the table were 5 Nigerians, 3 of which (including myself) grew up in Nigeria and just moved here few years back. The other 2 were born here and never visited Back home. I asked one of the other 2 what their Nigerian name is, and he could not even pronounce it properly, this caused a bit of stir as the others started laughing and they made this comment to him "you are lost and you are not a Nigerian" this didn't go down well with them. Then he asked this question, Not being able to speak your language or pidgen English, are those the only ways to classify you as being a Nigerian. So he said beside Language, what makes you a Nigerian? There was a general sadness and from the top of my head I said, -Working hard in spite of various difficulties -In the midst of our madness I still always remember God. -I believe in giving respect to your elders -etc. So I ask "what makes you a Nigerian"? |
I just came across this link on Jaguda.com, it was a reply to the video and its titled:Re: Why Wouldn’t I Leave Nigeria?; A Response To The Video By Kola Olaosebikan. I want to just highlight the point I have been trying to put across. Now I have no problem with maybe the intent of the video, or calling to light issues that we all know happen in Nigeria, but the execution and method of doing this comes off as nothing but very insulting to Nigerians, and I’m tempted to say, sadly ignorant. this is the link; http://www.jaguda.com/2013/08/09/re-why-wouldnt-i-leave-nigeria-a-response-to-the-video-by-kola-olaosebikan/ |
naijababe: Thank you o jare, only an ostrich would deny our problems, but the dick van dyke types expect others to solve problems just so they can swiftly move in to benefit. Nonsense!!!That's just the truth, and they are lots of people like her, that's waiting for others to solve our problems, then she and her type would then have a reason to come back. |
Osama10: I support this girl 1000%.In as much as you support her. you should note that all she did was state the problems that we already know, go to the market or even the motor parks you would see that even the ordinary Nigerian not only knows but experiences it. Have we not complained and identified this problems enough. We need actions to be taken and Its not by waiting for our leaders and justice system, its by asking ourselves, what can i contribute for this change to happen. If everybody gives up and runs away would that solve anything? Our international image is dented day by day, and this video only further dents what we have left of our image...Raise awareness of problems and solutions not just problems. |
25omega: you folks are getting it wrong. she is not putting down Nigeria for the sake of putting the country down but she is trying to reach out to people who actually live in the situation she mentioned so that you can share the same outrage she is expressing. Once people become outraged instead of pointing fingers and shrugging then, change can begin. If The issues of the country is mentioned and you think that makes her unpatriotic then the problems in that country will never end.She is raising issues that the enlightened Nigerian people already know. Without mentioning or suggesting one solution. So we have problems in Nigeria...so should we all give up on Nigeria and travel abroad then what? the problems are here and Its not going to be solved by stating them. We should do our own part in trying to make things better..not running away, changing your accent and reminding us of the problems facing the country |
adextetoo: oga no blame dis girl ooo na true yarn she dey talk if u sef dey her condition u go no hw painful it is to be a nigerianBros I live abroad..and I still claim my Naija everywhere...nothing dey there |
Egba girl: Tbh, I could only beat to watch half of the video. A few things:I know and believe that Nigeria is not the worst out there..but dismissing your country and claiming American is just a joke. |
kaffy4tope: Omg, I am speechless and embarassed. But, come to think of it, don't you think she's saying the truth?I think her motive was clear and maybe she is saying the truth or maybe not, but she never even mentioned anything positive about Nigeria...Its people like her that make the white folks see us from a single side of the story and think that Nigeria is a hell hole, which is not true. I mean of course we have our problems, but to air it out in public like that..that is way too far. |
I saw this video on youtube and it has caused a lot of outrage from Nigerian viewers. Personally as a Nigerian living abroad, I receive negative comments from my white friends about Nigeria and even if things aren't moving in the right direction, I still stay positive. What is your take on her views? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TA4AYQ2mFU#at=94 (Mods Please help me upload the video...thanks.) |
airmark: Good video concept but badly executed.Boss please tell us how he could have executed it better. This video is top class |
I pray Mikel does not make that list...He has to work harder. |
Please where is Mba? |

Rich folks steal billions and are giving 6 - 1 year jail time, this poor boy only had d intention to steal $4500 and was giving 8 months...smh |
Tusky44: No more free loans on the back of FG as guarantor. Go to the capital market and present your case for a loan. FG has learned the hard way and even now this is why they are struggling with fuel importers.U could not have put it any better... Every decision that goes against Lagos would be cited as a political affair..SHAME...the FG has taken its stand.. |

Been checking that thing, says I'm not enrolled for courses yet.Ma bad the timetable I have is for freshers. But u can get your course timetable thru Blackboard, but u have to be thru with the E-vision task 1st. We can always get the timetable when we get there. Atlantis85: I did but I got a reply saying I don't need an extension cos ukba is aware students will come in late plus lectures actually start 1st of october.Ok then...I would be travelling from PH via Air France on d 18th in order to meet up with the Orientation week, I've downloaded the timetable, even prospectus. I'm almost through wif my registeration just my passport for my student Id dts pending, I've been given my brunel student Email. How are your preparations coming? |
Atlantis85: I've got 12 days more though I wrote '22nd september' as 'Date you wish to travel' 'cause school resumes 24th. Hoping that will be in my favourSchool resumes on 24th but lectures don't start till Oct. I thought u asked for an extension? |
Atlantis85: I've got accomodation in Slough already. You?Sorry 4 d late reply dear ma network has been messed up... I ve nt made any accomodation plans yet. When I get there I'll. Hope U've booked ur place for Orientation. |
Atlantis85: Brunel University. MSc International Business. Awaiting visa. Haven't read about anybody else apart from @Chukyrooy o.What are your plans for accommodation? |
Atlantis85: I submitted my WAEC to brunel but im guessing that wasn't a basis of assessment. Were u asked to submit ur waec for ur visa app? They used my WAEC as my English Language test anywayz u ve taken the IELTS already. I wasn't asked to submit it at the embassy. Who did you direct the mail to? |
Atlantis85: Hi everyone,That's how mine came too from Brunel Didn't u submit your WAEC to brunel? This is what was written on mine - We judge the student is at CEFR B2 in all 4 skills - No documents are required to be submitted as evidence of this. |
Atlantis85: Oh, thank you! i probably wouldn't have thought about taking my admission letter to the embassy. I'll send the telex copies cos i was told on the forum to request for an extension to allow for processing of visa so I'd just do both in one mail.Advanced Engineering Design. Wish u success in your application, hope to see you @ Brunel this Sept. |
Atlantis85: Thank you @Chukyrooy.They would send it electronically, I did mine thru bank transfer and was a little jittery too, I sent them countless mails to confirm the payment but they neva did, what I saw in reply was my CAS few days later showing the payment deposit that I made. So u can still scan and send it to them but once they receive it you will surely get your CAS letter. Also remember to take your admission letter to the Embassy |
