SportsRe: Juventus: Can They Return To Serie A In One Season by Chxta(m): 5:13pm On Sep 09, 2006
Reality check, we just 'lost' to Rimini. 1-1.

Indeed, hopefully this will be a wake-up call. Serie B is a dogfight, it will be very tough. We didn't turn up properly today, rushed in attack, unorganized and sloppy in defence. We were very nervous. Taking Giannichedda out might've been a a mistake also, he goes unnoticed on the pitch but he does provide protection to our (weak) defence.

Anyway, most important thing is that we learn not to underestimate all the next opponents and really fight for the results.

Ratings:

Buffon 6.5 - Some good saves.
Birindelli 6 - Balanced play.
Kovac 5.5 - Did well at times, but didn't look 100%
Boumsong 4 - Goal was mainly his mistake.
Chiellini 5 - Very very nervous
Marchionni 5.5 - Good first half, dissapeared in the second
Paro 7 - Our best player
Giannichedda 6- Did his work
Nedved 5.5 - Rusty
Del Piero 5.5 - Rusty
Zalayeta 5 - Bad Movement

FORZA JUVE!!!

SportsRe: Is Issa Hayatou A Curse Or Blessing To African Football? by Chxta(m): 2:13pm On Sep 09, 2006
Hayatou has been excellent for Cameroonian football. But under him CAF had become a centre of 'ethnic' politics. Anyways, looking at CAF in the first few years under the man, you'll see that there was really no progress. I think that whatever progress CAF has made in the last few years is because businesses saw that there is money to be made from the game on the continent. . .
FamilyRe: Parents: Is It Time To Spare The Rod? by Chxta(m): 2:05pm On Sep 09, 2006
Spare the rod and soil the child. (Proverbs 13:24) It doesn't get more accurate than that. How do you expect a 7 year old to understand the difference between right and wrong in its totality without the help of a cane once in a while?

It is the failure to adhere to this simple injunction that is leading to the decay of western society as we know it.

Foreign AffairsRe: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by Chxta(op): 4:19pm On Sep 08, 2006
@ Mariory, amongst Christians, when a non Catholic wants to marry a Catholic, Catholic law states that the non-Catholic must either convert, or the children should be baptised Catholic. In most patriachal societies (like Nigeria for example) the wife usually takes on the husband's faith.
PoliticsRe: Why Do You Think Many Nigerians Do Not Vote? by Chxta(m): 4:11pm On Sep 08, 2006
I would say it's because most Nigerians are not properly informed on the one hand, and also because our politicians do not address the real issues. . .

Kaecy5,

The bible teaches me that the only way to make heaven is to accept Jesus Christ and become born again, clearly stating that no one will ever get to the Father expect through Jesus Christ.

Does that mean that only Christains will go to heaven? If yes, I believe it means that non Christians will go to hell abi?

Unfortunately, we are dragging this issue to mean that religion is the root cause of the problem this thread highlighted and not the injustices in the middle east.

Arafat before he died was married to a christain, not a moslem, Arafat had pictures of Jesus Christ in his home.

If the symbol of the Palestinian struggle then married a Christain (who according to some quotations here should have been killed) then we should know that ordinarily only politicians will take advantage of religion to achieve their own selfish aims.

Even Saddam had a christain as the 2nd most powerful man in Iraq Tariq Azeez (even when the population of christains in Iraq is about3%) and no one dared attack christains while Saddam was in power. Saddam was reported to have always supported the christains in all they did especially on festivities.

Why is Saudi Arabia (the home of the 2 most important places as far as Islam is concerned) not killing every non muslim including the Westerners that work in Saudi Arabia.

If anyone cannot abide by the rules in a place the person should leave just as I do not have anything against Sharia implementation in Zamfara State, it is about democracy and what the majority wants.

Again I ask, do we have things that Sharia forbids that Christianity tolerates? Is it rape, brothels, alcohol, stealing etc?
By far the best answer to my quetion so far. I am refraining from bringing my personal experiences to bear here because some would say that I'm a lover of the North. . .

Reliable ISP, if you are moving to Lagos, I'd recommend Netcom, if Abuja I'd recommend Rosecom.

PM doesn't work around these parts last time I checked. . .

TayoD:
You know what? If you can show me who the Canaanites are today, then we can begin to have a basis for removing the Jews from where they are settled. On the other hand, the Jews settled in Palestine ahead of the people that call themselves Palestinians and that is the basis of my argument. If we claim both are not original owners of the land, who amongst the two settled on that land first?
Remember that the Jews met people there. . .
