Skymoore1004: Ok but it’s tough sticking to visa terms eg 20 hours a week if you plan to work and pay tuition balance. At the end of the day only 10% actual gets PR through that route because they’ve kept to all TERMS. At the point of applying for ILR following the 10yrs route, how do they check if a person had kept the 20hrs per week work rule? I am guessing its through the NIN. Am I right? |

omopapa: Bank statements used during visa application or any other means to proof fund availability.
Except something is fishy, they don’t usually disturb students at POE. Being confident and consistent with answers are very important. Exactly. Thanks for this. I was wondering. I know whatever document we submitted for visa application, we should also have handy when traveling. |

omopapa: Usually u must have fulfilled the university criteria (deposit of £2k in this case) before they issue u with CAS. This CAS will indicate how much ur tuition is, how much u have paid and how much is left. The same CAS will be used to apply for ur visa.
Now at point of entry, u could be lucky just random questions and they will let u in. On the other end, they might ask for ur CAS and to show proof of the balance. OK. At point of entry if they ask for proof of funds, what should the person show? |

Skymoore1004: *You cannot start class if you have not paid the 50% balance o.* Yes you can travel but you will not be able to enrol if you have not paid up that 50%. My friend said the immigration officer even asked him to show the tuition balance at the airport. *He showed them 50% balance and his father’s statement with the rest.* Let’s give accurate information pls. All schools are not the same. Some schools have flexible payment system. Which airport was ur friend asked to show the 50% balance? Departure or arrival at the UK? If it is in the UK, did he show them the already printed statement from Nigeria or did he log into his banking app to show them the balance in his account? I know they were not expecting him to travel with such cash. |

We also have couple of guys here who are already schooling so they can help us clear the air. I know what the policy says and I have come to understand that these policies are not rigid as long as ur intention is not to break it. |

Phenmeson: Tanx Bro. But with initial deposit of £2000 payment, do you know if they will allow you to travel to UK after issuance of visa or you need to make 50% tuition fee payment You will be allowed to travel, enroll and even commence class while you pay the balance. Just note what the policy says but they are also flexible. |

Phenmeson: Do you know the least amount you need to pay from 9ja before getting to UK. If I may ask how you got the discount or payment reduced down to £13500.thanx Minimum recommended initial deposit is 5000 but the school know that some people find it difficult making such deposit from Nigeria so I got another mail asking me to pay 2000. The discount is called London discount. I guess its for London campus international student. |

Skymoore1004: Honestly I don’t understand the question but what I’m saying is that I don’t know if project management is the best option for you. You don manage projects before? You get any certification for PM? Someone talked about it today. If you study this project management now, what is your next plan? Which Oyibo wan give you project make you handle if you no get better work experience or certificate? At the end of the day you will find yourself struggling to find work. It’s better you follow IT part wey dey solid. It’s easier to get a job within the IT sector if you sabi the field well. By the time you finish your masters, that your basic knowledge go multiple. Also try to do a lot of practices. Even this your mechanical engineering na solid one. U.K. is always building something so there’s always work in that field too. Thank you very much. Your advice is noted. |

Skymoore1004: Don’t think it’s a smart move . Why don’t you venture into technology or other parts of engineering or data analytics etc? Just my opinion sha My 1st degree is mechanical engineering and I applied for MSC project mgt. With advanced practice. I actually had the intention to go for IT related course cyber security actually but I realized I only have basic IT knowledge so I changed my mind. So do you think someone with just basic knowledge in IT could comprehend and have a smooth classroom understanding of lectures? |

mikeerrr: It is not hearsay or inspiration talk. I have lived in the U.K. for 7 years and I’m talking from my experience & program mates.
During my bachelors, I was busy playing around during job fairs. 2 of them got hired on spot & this was in second year. One was for one pillow company (can’t remember the name) & the other was for American Express but she got transferred to Madrid after. Yes, they were Nigerians.
Myself got a paid internship on spot during one of the job fairs I attended in my MSc 1st year. I had applied to them initially but got rejected. Saw them on the stand and sold myself.
Although I didn’t accept it later because of the location they wanted me to work at.
It was one of the jobs that I applied for in my 1st semester that I finally did my internship with. During my internship, I started applying again for other jobs because it was just a contract one. Today I’m working with one of the companies I applied to.
Now all my friends that were busy doing side jobs and refused to utilise their opportunities well like eg study abroad, internships , placements etc are all back in Nigeria. It’s just one guy that is here because he got a citizen pregnant & got married. The rest kept waiting for “after graduation”. How many months do you have left? 4 months?
So don’t say forget all these things. Most companies not 1, recruit a year or 7 months before. This is to start training , orientation etc.
You just need to update your CV & make it more interesting. The study part, put your expected year of graduation. Emphasise on your skills & keep trying. Don’t let rejection emails discourage you. Good day Boss. I really like this your detailed advise. Please can you help me with a sample of updated CV or a guideline of how to construct one that will carry UK experience or study. You can send it via mail to cigbojugha@gmail.com Please help a brother. So we can follow practice of people with track record of success |

NomzyJust: My school (Bedfordshire) just postponed my June 1st start date and gave me a revised offer to start July 27th. My problem now is that the new offer came with an increased tuition £15320. I already made 50% tuition deposit of £6625 with the previous offer with tuition £13250. I am just confused. They want me to top up. This isn't fair at all. Hmmmm this is not nice at all. I just hope this won't be the case in Northumbria thou I was advised to go for May batch as the discount I got may not be applicable for September that many schools have and are planing to increase their fees. I was even thinking that in the light if this pandemic that schools will need to re-encourage abroad students to join them with a better/flexible options. |

Weigh what your deal breaker is and go with what gives you the best combination of realistic makers.
This admission cycle tho, schools with the highest fee discount that I know of are;
Cardiff - 5k Lancaster - 5k Sheffield Hallam - 2k Hertfordshire - 2k Warwick -2k(selectively)
You can look through the thread for others. Northumbria gave me 4500 |

Anyone here resuming in April/May? Thinking about how the corona virus outbreak could potentially disrupt those plans? A number of universities are already canceling in-class lectures and switching to online teachings.
I pray this pandemic passes quickly with as little carnage as possible. Everyone in areas hit with the virus; please stay safe. I am May applicant o. I have been thinking. I am due to pay my initial school fees deposit this week. Please elders in the house what is your take on this? Many countries are closing borders. Should I hold on on the process to get my CAS of should I continue with hope that before April all will be under control. I know this question might be big to answer but pls what is your overall view and advise for people in my case. |

Bourne007: Don't split as it doesn't work that way .. University will confirm esp on CAS what your Tuition fee for First year is.
Usually first year will be £10k+ while second year will be £1k It seems I misunderstood ur first response concerning the splitting pls clarify me what you really mean by the splitting. |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Cigbojugha: 2:27pm On Mar 05, 2020 |
Bourne007: You need to confirm with the university or check their website what the actually Tuition Fee for first year of your course is. You can then know the exact amount that should be in your account. Is your 2nd year a work placement?
All this splitting you are doing ehn Lol. The 2nd year is for practice(internship) For the splitting hmm I did it for people like you lol. I stated the full fees, the fee for one year and the leftover after paying initial deposit. I wanted my question to be clear enough to avoid whoever that is helping with answer not to ask further question. |
