TashaStPatrik: Good evening world people.. Plz I need help. My 2weeks old baby girl has some rashes on her neck. She is quit fleshy down there (neck area) .. It hurts her more when the room is hot ( I almost cried with her this afternoon).. My sister recommended ABF3 cream for me to apply on the affected area. I don't know if her skin is ready enough for such creams. Plz if anyone has conquered this situation, Biko help me out here.. Thanking you all in advance In addition to all the remedies the other mamas have given always make sure you raise the neck up and add palm kernel oil or ori after each bath to serve as barrier between sweet and the neck. |

zaynie: Crush ginger, soak in hot water, add lemon/lime and honey.. Drink, gurgle. It always works cos ginger has strong anti-inflammatory properties, lemon is a good antioxidant and disinfectant and honey is just soothing and sweet it sounds like it will work fast. But will it not affect my lo. Cos ordinary pain killer that they gave me at th the hospital affected him |

hunniesuzie: Let me answer the one I can
Persevere. He'll eventually take the bottle, most likely from other people but don't stop trying. Leave the room completely when it's feeding time
For storage, breastmilk stays 6 hours in open air, 3-4 days in the fridge, 6 months in a deep freezer (it must be frozen consistently oh, so light must be pretty regular
To defrost don't warm. Bring out from freezer to fridge then out in open air a couple of hours before feeding. Best way is to allow the milk achieve room temp naturally. Other option is to put bottle in a bowl of hot/warm water ok thanks I will do just that. |

Jina24: I know my post might be ignored as am not an active maa. But let me sha still talk. When I had to resume work and my baby was just 3months + i tried using bottles to feed her but it was war. I had to tell my mum and sis cos she was to stay with them when I resume to feed her with cup and spoon while still trying to teach her to use the bottle. My baby adjusted very fast. I guess cos she wasnt seeing me.
My baby rejected all the formular I bought. She will be 10months next week and i still drop a reasonable quantity of expressed breastmilk for her before leaving for work. Feeding her with cereal and breastmilk to me is not a bad idea. thanks but I am the only one taking care of him from morning till night and every other day my hubby only carries him when he is smiling and quickly returns him to me as soon as the baby's mood change. So I don't know how to manage |

Sabi mama's Na my tori be dis. My ds will be 3months on Friday and by right my leave expires officially on Friday but for the long holidays I will not be resuming till September and he will have to go to daycare I a. Still considering getting someone to accompany me to work, stay at a colleagues house in the staff quarters while I go to breast feed him regularly. because my school has a no baby to work policy. Incase I don't get anyone around though I am considering paying the person same amount as what the daycare changes. So I am trying to make my ds suck breast milk from feeding bottle incase I have to make him stay at the daycare but its not just working. And dh has been begging me to go to his parents home for holiday so because of the bottle feeding thing I managed to agree. Now am at his parents house and they are just carrying him about and will not allow him sleep on the bed. Ok I extracted the milk and gave to his big cousin to feed him cos he will not suck bottle from me when he can get it from me from the direct source. He just tasted it and said ok its that same stuff I get from mummy but why is it coming from a different source. Well he winked his cute little eyes and gathered every in his mouth and spat it out. I don know how long we can go through this. And when you store breast milk in the freezer do you have to warm ut b4feeding. And I don't intend to give formula untill one year so I will have to mix his cereal with breast milk. And still breastfeed is this idea ok. Pls make Una no look-a-pass me. |

enque: Let me just rant here
kai! today has been 1 helluva day....
my dd fell off the bed where i dropped her to mix palm oil +sugar for her cough. she cried for like 2 mins and stopped, but i have never seen her cry that way b4. everything just happened in a flash... i started crying with her. Dh heard her crying and rushed in to the room, i couldn't even lie about what happened. Since then he has been giving me 'that look' (now i wish i lied to him about what happened). My LO is fine , she is playing with her papa and cruising away in her walker now, but I just throw some glances her way from time to time. gosh! how did i get carried away
I am stressed.....taking care of my dd and managing my home all by myself isn't an easy task. Some nights I just breakdown and cry (I don't think I am depressed, sometimes it's just hard to deal). I am even beginning to analyse 2nd missionary journey and telling myself that adding 1 more baby to the mix will just 'kee' me finally.
my weight gives me concern too, my belle no just gree go inside.....i don tire to dey wear girdles and all what not.. I googled how to check for diastatis recti and checked my abdomen, and I felt a space. hmmmm..........na me kuku go find 'googoo' trouble
what else sef?!! I need an extra income source.....salary nor de reach anything again o!
End of rant!!
Hope we all are having a great weekend. sweetie don't be hard on yourself. Falling Is part of the growing business. Infact it makes them stronger. Just try and put them on a safe place. Like putting pillows on the floor when leaving her on the chair so she can have a safe landing. As for doing house chores my mother advised me to do my best and leave the rest. When I am tempted to finish everything in a day I just dress the kids and take them for window shopping to keep me away. B4 I breakdown cos my hubby nor dey lift a pin. For low income until u get something better cut down cost. My ds is having more frequent bowel movements recently they said its teething stool Si I bought washable diapers and also went to read through the creative forum in niaraland so I was able to construct a portable one for him so as he poos I wash immediately.my only use disposable diapers at night, when we are going out and sometimes in The morning cos he sleeps longer in the morning. My job has a policy of paying half salary during maternity leave so I have to be asking for money for everything something I am not used to so I dey sound like a cracked record to am and it's not funny at all. I had to make my own soy milk and soy beans powder to use alternatively cos I dey breastfeed I need am and my growing daughter needs it too. I make my own pap cos its neater, fresher and cheaper. I stopped buying insecticides I make sure doors are closed during the day and use mosquito net. I stopped buying things that have made name like us huggies and use my calculator very well like Nigeria pampers is 45naira for one while molfix is 38naira for one (though depend on the size) and its still ok. When diapers is messed up 2-3 hrs to bath time I use my washable diapers rather than use another diaper. After evening bath at 6-7 I use washable diapers till when I know 1diaper can take us till morning. I keep is butt very clean and we haven't had diaper rash for once. The list is endless. Infact I am so proud of myself instead of breaking down to cry. As for waight my sister I advise you do the very little u can to loose it and don't push it too far when the kids are off ur hands you can begin to try something harder. If my hubby say see ur tommy as eh big I tell him I used it to deliver beautiful kids that are answering his name and ask him what he did with his own that is bigger than mine. And also not that stress makes it almost impossible to loose weight so do your exercise when kids don grow enough to go school and u Have stopped breastfeeding ur body and baby needs all the nutrients now to keep u strong at old Age My sister people will talk but do what is safe for you and ur baby right now cos u both are the most important. God bless u and all mother as we sail the Aluta jet. If you have any handwork put it to practice and earn some more money. |

They are actually made of rubbing alcohol, essential oils, baby oil, soap and water. And the gynaecologist warns against the use of any thing other than water for the vigina either adult or babies. It is better u deep cotton wool into warm water and clean. |

AlphaHandMaiden: Sooooo mamas let me share my experience this week !
Dd has been having a bit of congestion and we suspected that she may have a sore throat as well. It was generally ok during the day, however at night there were a few wheezing moments.
So i tuesday, i stayed home to watch her as she was really not her usual self. I noticed she was breathing very loudly and seemed to be using a lot of energy taking in deep breaths. Plus her cough just sounded nasty! ( note: this is after all the steam inhalation, olbas, eucalyptus combo for 3 days oh)
So i took her to the local doctor.... that was where i was told, we need to call you an ambulance. If she appears to have breathing difficulty, it needs to be treated as an emergency!
Eh hen! Ok oh. Before i could say "aturupoyoyo" Out came the nebuliser with steriods being administered and we even got the full siren treatment to the larger hospital. I have never been attended to so quickly in my life..lol!
Long story short she had Croup! Which is a a result of a viral cough, but it causes the airways to be inflamed and swell up resteicting the flow of air. Symptoms are difficulty breathing and "barking" cough - which basically sounds like a high pitched bark. She had to have an oral steriod administered to reduce the swelling and low and behold the child that was doing wan-kind before was now running amok and scattering the whole hospital.
It apparently usually affects children between 6mo - 5 yrs and ranges in seriousness from mild to moderate and severe. older children and adults may have it but it hardly developes into severe cases. And it happens mostly or starts at night.
Just thought to share in case it may help anyone.
DD is doing good now. thank God for her health now. God will protect our children for us and our efforts will never be in vain. |

fruitfulhome: Ok Mamas goodevening. Come help me out in this.
We have just started second semester last week with seminar topics already distributed. Baby is 8 weeks today. Please what is my best option. Start baby on formulae and be dropping him with MIL who lives close by. Buy baby carrier and be taking him along to classes. My classes are four times in a week; two courses on Friday 10-3pm.
I can't afford creche now and won't even consider it at his age.( if at all there are schools that take that age). Also, option of Nanny is out of it. The challenge with MIL is that she travels always especially Friday's to Monday's. Secondly, there are lots of people living in her house. Anytime baby goes there, that is how they transfer him from one hand to the other, from room to room, bed to bed, chair to chair( and they always read meaning to any caution,) My mum is managing her health so not available.
Please what option is the best? Thank u al my sister carry your pikin like drivers license oh. This stage will come and go. In my case I carried preg and gave birth at 200level yet I go to work in the morning and lecture starts at 2, and my school had a no baby to school policy so I have to stay at the last seat at the back then 3ool into 4ool with pregnancy and my first child to school so tee till date my course mates use to call my daughter fellow course mate. Then I put to birth 3wks to final exam. In all that trouble Na 2,2 I take graduate and it was so annoying. But I am so glad that I could manage work, school and family and still had a better grade than some persons that where single. Right now masters and God will still see me through. |
