I have reported to airtel customer service several times about organised crime ring that specializes on using criminally obtained premium account numbers to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. Their mode of operation is to wipe off your credit any time you call the number or send SMS. They call (flash) millions of subcribers ramdomly, anyone one who attempts to call back will have its credit wiped off. At the end every month, Airtel remits eguivalent amount of this stolen credit to the telco that terminated the calls for onward payment to these criminals. Airtel can not claim ignorance of this fraud as they refused blatantly to block these numbers from terminating in their network. As for me i dont have problem with dealing with this kind of fraud, but what about millions of nigerians that fall to this trap? For your information, the number they use is in this format 547******* |
@poster, why not unlock the modem or buy a universal modem to use all the networks. No network is perfect, they usually flutuate. Glo used to be the best in surulere but now i get EDGE 70% the time. |
Thanks all, i think sim swap is the best option. I will go to their office after the strike for the swap. |
Tecno is trying, at least they give you features of high end phone with little amount. In terms of durability i will give them pass mark. I was attracted to tecno phone at first because of double screen and touch screen. I bought t8, i was able to download small files like pocket reader, albite ebook reader, operamini 4.4. What i dislike about tecno phones are low memory and low processing power. Imaging they included 4GB micro sd external memory while the phone memory is just 10MB which doesnt make sense. Mobile phones works with phone memory while external memory is just for storage. |
I used that settings and two others i got from the net and the over the air configuration still no success. |
Fellow nairalanders, have you seen that the poster has been busted? After my first reply, he quickly deleted his second post, forgetting it has already been quoted. Please stop fraudulent practices it wont take to anywhere |

I have both android and blackberry, i use blackberry 95% of the time. Reason : Blackberry has good data compression technology. You pay less for internet, infact with blackberry my monthly internet subscription of 5000 naira reduced to 2500. To browse with android phone is very expensive. So the choice is yours. |
Wilfem:Read thru all the previous post you will get all info needed. You people should stop overflogging this issue before it is blocked |
I have said it several times, let Igbos leave the northern states and come back home. The northerners are simply animals who have no regards to human lives. There are so many towns in the east they can settle and do their businesses. They have the population which economic advantage to them. They can engage in manufacturing to cut down massive importation from china. Any Igbo who remains in the north chooses to commit suicide therefore no pity for the person. |

As for the glo data bonus, i think it has stopped working. I enjoyed the bonus for a month and about two weeks, but presently it connects but hardly opens any page. I noticed when it started being very slow that makes browsing agonizing, which made me to stop using it. I tried today but i doesn't work though it connects. Anybody with any experience? |
Emeka7, why are you still using operamini 3.1 instead the latest version. |
Thanks, is it also applicable to other nekworks? |
I thank all of you for your contributions, I actually use operamini for blackberry. Operamini enables you to pause and resume download, but cannot resume broken download caused by network failure. Ucweb does not run well on my blackberry 9860. |
See how foolish some people are, someone bought china phone for the wife, all of u are attacking him. Do you know some people in nigeria presently can not afford any phone. Last two years i bought nokia phone for about 19k for my wife and i gave her also tecno for her second and she was happy. She works in a very good place and she didnt bother at all. Since over three years i have been using china phones less than 8k out of choice but not because of affordability. I basically use my phone to make or receive calls. I used my laptop to browse. My wife is now using brand new bold 4. I also bought brand new 9860 some call it torch 3 or storm 3. I also bought playbook and android phone samsung galaxy s2. I bought all this because l have started browsing with phone. I have also noticed that the blackberry has helped me to cut down the cost of my internet subscription. The message, NEVER CRITISISED ANYONE DECISION IT CAN CHINA PHONE TODAY, BLACKBERRY HTC IPHONE TOMORROW |

Thanks all for your invaluable contributions. I will put the suggestions to use. |
I just bought etisalat Huawei 8180 gaga phone for 19000naira for the sole aim of browsing with the phone. To my surprise, the phone drinks data like water. For example, i use 10 MB on my Tecno T8 java phone reading email and newspapers for three days, but Etisalat gaga drank the 10 MB for just 5 minutes. What i gathered from people suggests that Andriod OS can suck data like the way a baby sucks the mama breast. Why bringing a device that will drain the pocket of the user? The 50MB bonus they advertise with the phone is completely rubbish. You can use it up within one hour. They said the phone is internet hotspot capable, this is laughable as using the phone as router/hotspot will drain data the size of water in the Bar beach. The phone is good only if you have free wifi in your area, you can enjoy browsing via free wifi. |
