KunleBoye: I paid my annual subscription early January and it was still at the rate of £354-£356.
I haven't paid for my June exams though, however I heard from grapevines that you can pay to ACCA directly using a bank draft and you will be charged at the CBN official rates.
If you stay in Lagos, get to their office at V.I for further enquiries.
Cheers Please who/what is grapevines |

He ddnt say reekado wasnt worth it, he was referring to the management for being biased. He only expressed himself because his boy wasnt given a fair chance and the so called boss took it upon himself out of what i call an act of show off and pompousness to go on stage and utter the most embarrassing statement to a fellow celebrity. We are talking about olamide's ego na. I ddnt expect anything less from the acclaimed street king. And i am not even an olamide fan. U keep telling urself she's a kid. So if she wasn't a kid, it is OK to sleep with her Abi? Shameless fool foreman: She came into our house at 14. She calls me daddy. Now almost eighteen.
Now shes grown those things, fresh, firm and well shaped. I keep telling myself shes a kid. But my mind will not leave that place.
Madam travelled recently. This "kid" keeps jiggling those succulent things, intentionally or otherwise, I cant tell. Then I couldnt hold myself, I grabbed her when she served my food. I held and suckled like my life depended on them. Funny thing she didn't resist. I managed to let go when my conscience wouldn't let me. I had to visit a brothel to calm nerves that evening. Still throughout the night, my mind couldn't get rid of the twins.
Now, the problem is how do send this girl out of our house without raising suspicion. I am sure if she stays around, what I am trying to avoid will eventually happen. |

Career › Re: How To Survive In The Oil And Gas Industry? by ciwi: 8:48pm On Dec 11, 2015 |
dabriggs: Good morning madam,
Now about you, you fit right in the Finance and Accounts or Human Resources and Administration Departments/Divisions based on your qualification and work experience. You have the experience to work under pressure too. You already said you studied Economics and Statistics and you are chasing a professional certification in Accounting. May I suspect ACCA or ICAN? I may? Great.
In the Oil and Gas Servicing area, there are not that many finance and accounting contractors in the Industry. KPMG does a lot of work within the financial area. PWC also does a little bit in auditing and reporting. Deloitte also just stepped into the scene and they seem to be doing well.
If you can learn a lot with specifics on the oil and gas industry and its operations. It will be good. I mean what other way to focus? Take assets and component accounting for instance. There is a lot of calculation of their depreciation, etc. Basically component accounting is troublesome. As mater of fact, I feel most Nigerian oil companies have staff that cannot do this aspect. But of course I might be sorely wrong! My thought though. And I am no genus. So I attached a PDF file from KPMG so you can understand the breadth of the matter. I hope you do love to read? I DO. A LOT.
What are your areas of interest? I mean in the oil and gas industry or generally. Also, as I did you can go look at job descriptions and what is expected of accountants/statisticians when they are required in the oil and has industry. Look for past and present job openings see them Then you can know what the requisite skill sets are and you can define a plan in acquiring them as far as possible.
The only way I can help is to give my own bit of how I think you can go about it. It is not fail proof either. God knows I will not say what I cannot do. And what I can do is information. My father does not own the Stadium, neither is the Airport my uncle's, or Apapa Port my family's. Permit my sens of humor. That is mainly for the Ibru's . Another way is for you to send me your C.V. ,your email or some way to get in touch and I inform you if HEAR of an opening. But like i informed others, there is hardly any right now. The industry in Nigeria is not growing. The stagnation is world over, but worse in Nigeria. Secondly I am not in Nigeria. Completing my Msc.
So in summary:
1. Find the required skill sets for the industry core oil and gas companies or contractors 2. Check which you can get in Nigeria 3. Develop a plan of acquiring these skills 3. Acquire them 4. keep monitoring your skills
Of course you have to look for openings as you go along.
I used to be a banker. Back then the banks just merged and recapitalized. That was back in 2005-2007. Proudly ''FBNUNPAID''. Only those initiated will understand the chants of the spirits. . I still consider banking as my second profession. Yes I have 4 Professional areas I am qualified to work in based on my interests and skills. Teaching/Lecturing (Academics), HSE Engineering and Management, Banking and Rigging/Deck Handling on a Ship/Vessel. With regards to banking, I still go through the skills, courses, modules that were taught during the foundation training and other numerous courses attended. Also, I can still recall how to use the software, FINACLE. Maybe I might have trouble with the most recent versions. I do not know how many upgrades and migrations have been done. Thank you so much for this. Apologies for the late response. I'm taking in all of this and gonna use it to achieve +ve results. I sent you a Pm. Thanks again |

dabriggs: I no handsome ooo. I no great at all sef. I ''wor-wor'' and as a mater of fact, I am so ugly ladies hate me and babies cry upon sighting my face. But thanks all the same.
SAIPEM, well yes. While they are majorly into engineering and construction they also do other stuff both onshore and offshore. There has been some shake up in the company with a bid to get more involved in more oil and gas activities and contracts. It is almost as if the company is re-branding itself and wants to be more of a major player in the servicing industry.
I know a couple of their drill ships. On the OPL 245 Project (when it was still live, before it was frozen) Sapiem10, 000 drill ship was to be brought in to drill some wells. SEDCO EXPRESS and WEST POLARIS Semi Sub Drilling Rig and Drill ship respectively, were drilling on the field. I remember vividly going through the Sedco Express en-route to the MERLIN. My presence was so critical to Merlin's operations, I was transferred with the Zodiac FRC. . It was not very safe but it was thrilling. I cannot recall the details now, but I think there was a need to speed up field development and another drill ship was to be contracted. Many were considered and Saipem10,000 was favored because it could drill in ultra deep waters. Besides it is a very advanced drill ship and of course it belonged to Saipem which is a sister company to NAE who is the operator of the OPL245 Block. They are fully into drilling services as well.
The Total's Egina Field development (which they are still going ahead with despite the fall in oil prices ) has SAIPEM Playing a great role therein. They are handling EPCI of flow lines, pipelines etc. Of course Egina is considered deep offshore and Saipem is making its mark in shallow and deep offshore environments.
And oh yes. Call it frivolous, worldly, shallow or call it anything. I LIKE THEIR COVERALLS. Why, well I just think it is cute. Also I like the European styled coveralls.
Funny enough the company has huge potentials. Some areas of its activities are not even felt in Nigeria as they are in Europe. Dabriggs, u seem to know a lot about this industry. Please help a sister. I'm a banker but I don tire for bank and marketing. Used to be in CSU tho. I just need relevant experience in this industry and don't mind earning less than my current pay. I studied Economics and Statistics and currently chasing a professional certification in accounting. Biko is there any way u can help? Would really appreciate |

However, i feel too lazy to apply for jobs these days even though i am sure there is something better out there.
I desire to secure International employments but, i am usually too lazy to apply for them. Recently, i got a phD studentship opportunity abroad but, the laziness to research and write a compelling proposal robbed me of that opportunity.
I work hard, even now; I still read too. What do you think can be responsible for this incessant failure to galvanize energy that i need to propel me to my next phase? And what do you advise? Have you been in a situation like this before?
Do you think my resolve either to: leave my present employment or move to the next level isn't strong enough? |

As for contract staff, there is hardly anything anyone can do. It is their contract owners that will help them. The companies pay up, contract owners take over 50 per cent in many cases. What I detest is when the core staff do the discrimination. It happens and I mean it. In some companies, their I.D.s are different. These companies know themselves. Their staff numbers also reflect whether you are contract or core. The first thing they do is look at your I.D. Card to know how to talk to you and relate with you.
Anyway. Na dem sabi. Every man with his own.
I was also in Banking and was a top shot Cashier and a Customer Service and Cards and Channels guru. . Saturday banking sef been follow. When I look back, I thank God sha. But banking was fun and very personal. I get to help people, attend to their needs, solve their problems. sometimes they thank you, sometimes they quarrel. I missed that personal touch when I left. That feeling of helping that mama to repurchase her bank draft. Or helping that secretary to reverse the money she paid into the wrong account. You know what I mean.
Now it is just office, computer, field, chopper, cover all, PFD, report, calculations, etc. |
Career › Re: How To Survive In The Oil And Gas Industry? by ciwi: 3:41pm On Nov 24, 2015 |
Very insightful. Sounds like you really had fun. Hope you have gotten something else MadCow1: Being a Contract staff in an International Oil company is nothing like being in the banks. It all depends on whatsssg your job description is.
I started my working career in Nigeria in an IOC as a Contract staff. My job description was good. I was an assistant to a lead engineer.
My salary was ridiculous. Infact, I remember going into the club on a Champagne run after I received my first alert.
Because of my job description and the boss I had at the time, I worked like I was a full staff. No complaints as I was doing the job of a lead. The environment was very professional and really enjoyed my work.
Now the down side I experienced was with my Contractor. Every Contract Staff in an IOC is managed by a Contractor. Your salary is not paid directly to you but through your contractor who then takes a percentage of that salary before paying you the rest. My first contractor was taking 55% of my contract value. It's also very difficult to change who manages your contract as your contractor owns the contract and you work for him not for the IOC. Whereas companies like SPDC has a set percentage overhead any Contractor can take from a Contract Staff, companies like Total does not meddle in such so alot of Contract staff are getting fhucked over by their contractor. A friend of mine was on a day rate of 80,000 Naira and his contractor was paying him just 40%. He was entitled to a Christmas bonus that was being paid to his contractor that he never got. The Christmas bonus was the equivalent of his 1 month salary (22 days pay).
There were a few discriminatory aspects to working as a Contract staff in an IOC, but I couldn't care less. Example is that Contract Staff and Permanent Staff have different lunch feeding Times. After the Permanent staff are done, then the Contract staff can go eat what's left. The food is good but I never bothered. One annoying part was that most Oyinbos in these IOCs are contract staff, but they can go eat with permanent staff whilst we blacks wait for them to finish. There were many cases of Black Expatriates (some of whom were managers) being turned back at the door of the restaurant unknowingly.. Then during the new year when things like Calenders and Diaries come in, only staff anf Oyinbos Expatriate contract staff gets the Diaries .. We black Contract staff only get calenders. So I never had any calenders of my company in my house.
My advise to Contract Staff in IOCS is please be confident in yourself and take pride in your work. If you are of the menial contract staff designation (errand boy/girl), better go asking for real work to be assigned to you voluntarily, learn the ropes and make yourself an asset so when an opening comes up you can move away from that errand boy position into a proper office job.
As a Contract staff, learn to always have a savings as you can be fired anytime with no compensation or renumeration. That's why you are paid on a daily basis. I remember how I lost my job.. I knew it was coming, Ai just didn't expect it on that Tuesday. . keep a saving for the rainy days that can happen upon you at short notice.
Finally... I really enjoy being a contract staff. Apart from the fact that there is no job security, the pay is ridiculous. As a Contract staff, you make sometimes as much as 3 to 4 times the salary of a permanent staff. But if you want a permanent staff job, get all the experience you can out of your contract position and move on.
Hope this helps.
