Now to compare the character of GEJ to Buhari, can you mention one single project Buhari did in the Bayelsa area or even the old Rivers State as President of Nigeria?

It's all about showing who is an incureable ethnic and religious bigot and who is truly a national statesman deserving of the office of the President.

PoliticsRe: We Saw Helicopters Dropping Arms, Food For Boko Haram – Idps by cjrane: 1:07pm On Jan 29, 2015
We already know Boko Haram is getting foreign help and sometimes help from sympathetic commanders inside the Nigerian army.

But, now that they have been bloodied in Kondunga and other areas, why can't we press on with the attack to seek them out and attack their hideouts? Why must we wait for the next attempt to attack Maiduguri before engaging Boko Haram?

Giving Boko Haram the luxury of time to regroup, restrategize and re-launch an attack after they are beaten in the initial attack is one hellishly disastrous strategy of our army high command.

Obiano Endorses Maku for Nasarawa, Raises Hope on APGA Candidates

The APGA gubernatorial candidate in Nasarawa State, Mr. Labaran Maku has been described as Nasarawa’s brightest hope for focused and purposeful governance in the coming elections.

Receiving Mr. Maku at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, the Governor of Anambra State who is also the National Chairman of the Board of Trustees of APGA described Maku as a great patriot who had served Nigeria meritoriously in his past capacity as the Minister of Information and someone whose innate leadership abilities should be of great benefit to the people of Nasarawa State.

According to governor Obiano, Maku’s excellent pedigree marks him out as a worthy addition to the cast of thoroughbred Nigerians that APGA had assembled to transform Nigeria in the coming political dispensation and one which Nasarawa people must latch onto in order to leapfrog their state to a new height of development.

Said he; “I was delighted when I heard that Labaran was joining our great party. He had done a great job in his previous capacity serving the presidency and the nation. We welcome you with open arms into APGA. Let me assure the Nasarawa State chapter of APGA that we shall give you the support you need to win in the coming elections so that from that platform you will help us to propagate our philosophy of be thy brother’s and sister’s keeper. We shall soon have four new governors and Nasarawa will be one of them, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Zamfara will all be part of it. APGA will soon metamorphose into a great Nigerian party.”

Governor Obiano further observed that in general, APGA was presenting a team of credible and accomplished Nigerians who had distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavor and made remarkable contributions to nation-building and urged Nigerians to queue behind the party to ensure a more prosperous country.

He noted that victory for any APGA candidate would translate to a new lease of life to the people and the promotion of the tested philosophies of the party which have manifested fully in Anambra State in the last nine years.

The governor also urged the people of Nasarawa State to give Mr. Maku a chance to plant the party’s ideals of good governance in Nasarawa State and watch their state make a rapid progression into a frontline member of the Nigerian union.

Also lauding Mr. Maku, the National Chairman of the party, Chief victor Umeh observed that with his wealth of experience and youthful enthusiasm, Nasarawa State would be transformed into a major stakeholder in the Nigerian enterprise, noting that since Maku joined the party, there had been an exodus of other party members into APGA because of his clout and the promise he holds to the Nasarawa people.

Chief Umeh urged the people of the state to vote for Maku and witness the much awaited rebirth of their beloved state.

Earlier in his remarks, the APGA Gubernatorial Candidate had assured that APGA was on course to wrestle power from the ruling party and rescue Nasarawa State from years of violence and wanton destruction, lamenting that the present leadership had split the once peaceful state along fractious religious lines.

Mr. Maku assured that when he assumes office as the next governor of Nasarawa State, he would restore the organic unity between the people of the South East and the North Central which had been vital to the stability of the country in the past.

He lauded Governor Obiano’s leadership qualities which he said had made a bold statement for all the candidates running for an elective position on the platform of the party. Mr. Maku also applauded the contributions of Ndigbo to nation-building saying that, “If the Igbos in Nasarawa do not open the markets in various parts of Nasarawa every morning, State our people will not wake up.”

Mr Maku further observed that Igbos living in Nasarawa State had become a part and parcel of the state. Said he; “The Igbos in Nasarawa State are now indigenous to our state. Many of them have invested their life savings in developing our state. So we want to assure you that this relationship will increase the participation of the Igbo community in the development of Nasarwa state.”

He also assured the governor of his loyalty to his leadership of the party, emphasizing that, ‘As your brothers from the North Central of Nigeria, we shall stand side by side with you to build this party. We shall do everything we can to support you so that this party will not be seen as an Igbo party but a national party. Given what you are doing now, I am sure that after February 28, you will not be the only APGA governor. I believe Nasarawa will join you. I believe Zamfara will join you, Even Ogun will join you. Of course it is clear to us that Imo and Abia are there already. So, we shall become the party with the largest number of governors outside the big two. I assure you that come February 28, APGA will be the ruling party in Nasarawa State.”

I am highly excited that Governor Obiano finally wants to implement world class hospital systems in Nigeria.

I had always wondered why we could comfortably afford to spend N2-5 billion naira to build roads which often breakdown in a few years but we cannot afford to spend the same amount to build world class hospital edifices which lasts for hundreds of years and help save countless millions of lives!

I thank Obiano for the courage to change things and bring world best standards to Anambra. I wish he would build one of these types of general hospitals abroad, which actually serve towns smaller than the population of Ihiala!

Like the man who dared to build the 1st Palms shopping Mall in Lagos, which inspired and triggered a new era of building mordern shopping malls in Nigeria, I hope Gov. Obiano's bold effort would inspire and trigger a new era of building world standard hospitals in Nigeria.

Obiano Commissions Diagnostic Center, Re-constructs General Hospital Onitsha

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has commissioned the Sun Medical Diagnostic Center, an ultra-modern diagnostic center located within the premises of the General Hospital in Onitsha.

Performing the ceremony in Onitsha, Governor Obiano expressed optimism that the center would serve as a viable alternative to Nigerians who travel overseas in search of superior medical diagnosis as it is fully equipped with the latest facilities in modern medical research.

As part of the efforts to drive home the need for proper diagnosis of ailments before treatment, the governor announced that the Sun Medical Diagnostic Center would provide a free diagnosis to people between Monday and Friday next week and urged Onitsha residents to take advantage of the opportunity to attend to their medical needs.

Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State, his wife, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu and Dr. Joseph Akabuike, Commissioner for Health inspecting facilities in Onitsha General Hospital.
The governor who also used the opportunity to formally inaugurate the renovation and reconstruction of the Onitsha General Hospital further explained that on completion, the hospital would among other things, house specialist areas in surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and internal medicine, saying that it would also accommodate standard accident and emergency units with an airfield for the landing of helicopters to ensure a speedy movement of patients in and out of the hospital.

According to him, also being planned are quarters for all categories of health workers, a pharmaceutical block and a laboratory as well as some isolation wards for contagious medical cases. The governor explained that the project was in fulfillment of his campaign promise to evolve a structured health system that would pave the way for medical tourism in the state and discourage Nigerians from seeking medical help overseas.

Governor Obiano further explained that the General Hospitals in Ekwulobia and Enugu Ukwu would also be developed in a similar way to serve the people of Anambra South and Central respectively while the ongoing renovation work on all the 37 general hospitals in the state would be accelerated to ensure completion on schedule.

The governor also restated the resolve of his administration to entrench a standard medical practice in the state using the latest technology and specialist skills supported by a public-private partnership arrangement that would be driven by experts in properly defined medical practice.

Dr. Paul Ezeukwu, Chief Willie Obiano, Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, Dr. Joseph Akabuike, Commissioner for Health and Hon Dubem Obaze, Secretary to the State Government.
He also noted that a primary health agency that had just been signed into law would help to reposition and revitalize all primary health centers across the state while a legal framework would soon be put in place to rid the state of quacks.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Akabuike explained that when fully renovated, the Onitsha General Hospital would serve as a training center for house-officers and resident doctors in different areas of medicine.

In his own remarks, the Medical Director of the Sun Medical Diagnostic Center Dr. Paul Ezeukwu said the center has enough capacity to meet the medical examination needs of the people as it enjoys the collaborative partnership of some reputable laboratories in the US and further assured that the center would extend its expertise to other laboratories and hospitals in the state for a more comprehensive coverage.

Dr. Ezeukwu also declared the readiness of his group to partner with the Obiano administration to set up a world class cancer center that would be the first of its kind in the South East of Nigeria and urged fellow indigenes of Anambra State to bring home their investments now that Governor Obiano had created a favourable environment for all.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the construction company that is handling the renovation and construction of Onitsha General Hospital, Prof. Michael Obiefuna noted that Governor Obiano’s determination to upgrade quality health services in Anambra State would help to increase the life expectancy of the people and reverse the neglect of general hospitals.

1LRNZH:
A drone crashed in Dumge village in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State this afternoon.
Dumge is about 30kms North-East of Maiduguri.

https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/drone-dumge.png

https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/drone-dumge41.png

This happened “coincidentally” the same day that a drone evaded security and crash landed in the White House.

The drone that landed in Borno today was armed with rockets and a full military drone.

NewsRescue has been unable to verify more on this suspicious drone as we received the reports from our secret sources who got the images and reports but lack significant capacity to pry deep.

Nigeria is not known to be utilizing drones in the war against Boko Haram.

The United States is only flying surveillance drones over Nigeria.

This full size, 20 feet wing span military drone must be operated from a military base, possibly in a neighboring nation.

The drone from preliminary NewsRescue investigation looks like a weapons fitted MALE US Army MQ-1C Gray Eagle shown below.

https://newsrescue.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/mq-1c-1_s-US-army.jpg

Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki has said in UK last week that Chad has links with Boko Haram leadership.

Armed drones of this nature cost upwards of $400,000.

Maiduguri, capital of Borno state was just attacked Sunday by Boko Haram terrorists in an attacks analysts describe as as a diversion, while the terrorists captured Monguno (population 100,000), 85 kilometers northward of Maiduguri, seizing a military barracks and the ammunition held.

Mafa is between Boko Haram captured Monguno and Maiduguri.

Drones and jets and choppers have been reported used by Boko Haram against the Nigerian army and Civilian-JTF in recent attacks including the attack that saw over 2500 killed in Muslim predominant Baga and Doro towns at the border with Chad.

Armed drones of this nature are sophisticated war equipment, piloted and operated by skilled operators in control centers. This find brings new extremely troubling dimensions to the Boko Haram terror and insurgency war against Nigeria. It further confirms the invasion being a foreign campaign.

We have yet been unable to get a reaction from the Nigerian military.

This news is highly sensitive and being further investigated. Please stay tuned…

Anambra Seals Major Bilateral Agreements with Thailand ...To collaborate on Large Scale Rice, Fish Farming, Gas & Solid Minerals

For Ndi Anambra at home and in the Diaspora and friends of Anambra State, last week will go down in history as the turning point in the journey to return the state to the path of greatness. It was the week when the leading lights of the business community of Thailand relocated to Anambra State to explore the vast business potentials of the state and tie a number of agreements that will leapfrog Anambra into a commanding position in the nation’s economy.

After five exciting days of tours and presentations in a friendly atmosphere, Anambra State signed a pact with Thailand, agreeing that in partnership with the Thai Investment Group, it would establish large scale rice and fish farms and go into the manufacturing and refurbishing of agricultural machineries. Reading a communiqué issued at the end of the visit, the Anambra State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Hon Ifeatu Onojeme further revealed that the Thai group also resolved to partner with Anambra and other interested investors to explore the state’s Gas and Solid mineral sector and apply their technical expertise in waste management, recycling and waste energy projects. The Thai Investment Group also agreed to embark on its first ever Medical Mission to Nigeria and Africa in Anambra State during which time they would explore the possibility of bringing their expertise in the pharmaceutical industry which they hoped would make the state a major trading hub for medical supplies in Nigeria. They also expressed interest in the state power sector and initiated a Public Private Partnership arrangement to compliment ongoing private power projects in the area of power generation, and support for other electrical projects across the state.

Both parties also agreed to collaborate in education with a focus on skills acquisition and training relevant to the needs of the Economic Blueprint of the Obiano administration with a view to sending Anambra indigenes to Thailand for vocational training, while vocational schools in the state would serve as outlet and affiliates of prominent Thai vocational institutes.

On its part, Anambra State government agreed to provide an enabling environment consistent with international best practices necessary for investment and businesses from Thailand to enter and flourish, while the expected investments would focus on areas where the Thai economy has competitive advantage. Governor Obiano signed the Communiqué for Anambra state while the Leader of Delegation Dr. Ratana Porn signed for the Thai Investment Group. A joint investment would facilitate the objectives of the partnership within the next six to twelve months.

Led by Dr. Ratana Porn, the Thai Business Delegation had arrived the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu, Monday to the warm embrace of the Anambra State officials and the management of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA). Their arrival was significant for two reasons – One, it marked the first bold step of the Obiano administration to fulfill its Vision and Mission statements. From the tour and the agreements that followed, we could see the imminent realization of Obiano’s Vision of working to ensure that “Anambra State becomes the 1st Choice Investment Destination and a hub for industrialization and commercial activities” as well as the Mission of “creating a socially stable, business friendly environment that will attract both indigenes and foreigners to seek wealth creating opportunities in Anambra State.” Two; it was one event that finally proved to the whole wide world that Anambra has overcome its once troubling security nightmare, characterized by violent armed robbery, rampant kidnapping, brazen brigandage and utter lawlessness. The successful hosting of about 30 trade missioners for six days, involving extensive tours of the state, without an incident is a solid proof that Obiano has not only cleansed Anambra of hoodlums and brigands but he has also lifted a white flag to the global investment community, beckoning them to the New Anambra.

The Thai delegation was drawn from different segments of the Thai economy. They include Rayong Purify Group which is interested in oil refining, bio-diesel production with palm oil, tank farms and ethanol by cassava. There is also the S.S Furn-Tech Group which is the oldest group of furniture, particle board and plywood production and wood processing factories in Thailand as well as the Electricity Generating Authority Thailand (EGAT), an equivalent of the Nigerian PHCN.

Others include the DOS Dhammasorn Group which is interested in waste and water management, the Natawee Technology Group that manufactures agricultural equipment and machinery, the Aqua Product and Fish Supplier Group, the Waste Management and Garbage Factory, the Siam DUT KPN Mining Inter Trade Group, and the Production and Business Group which is the biggest group in the delegation. Also on the list of the delegation is the Global Service Interlink Group (GSI), CYR Agro-Tech Center, Knowledge Education Center, Luvam Global Solutions Company, Sun Tech Seeds Company and finally the Vegetable Group and Organic Fertilizer who represent the biggest group of herbal medicine in Thailand.

The Trade Missioners had a great time in Anambra State, touring places of economic importance like the famous Onitsha Main Market, Coched Farms, Ogbunike cave, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Orient Petroleum and Ufuma Irrigation Projects among others.

Speaking at a colourful cultural night held to round off the trade mission, the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano called on prospective investors from within Nigeria and all over the world to emulate the example of the Thai business delegation. According him, this is the right time to come to Anambra and invest because the state has created enabling environment for genuine investors. "I invite investors all over the world to come because Anambra is open for business. Those who come now stand the best chance. As they say ‘early bird catches the worm.’ Anambra is the second smallest state after Lagos in terms of landmass but we are managing our limited land mass in a structured manner for the benefit of all.”

Governor Obiano expressed satisfaction with the hosting of a successful Investment Summit which he said has afforded the Thai delegation the opportunity to explore the huge investment potentials available in Anambra, pointing out that Thailand has a lot in common with Ndi Anambra because of their industry, respect for family and culture, as well as their prowess in various fields of endeavor which are in tune with the plans of his administration as encapsulated in the 4-Pillars: Agriculture, Oil & Gas, Trade & Commerce and Industrialization. He thanked the Thai’s for agreeing to assist Anambra State in its quest for accelerated development.

Expressing the appreciation of the Thai group for a successful Anambra-Thailand Investment Summit, the Leader of Delegation, Dr. Ratana Porn, said that they were impressed by the high level of opportunities that exist in various sectors of the state. She assured that the unfolding collaboration with the Thai investors would yield the desired goals for the mutual benefit of the parties.

The colorful cultural night featured musical display by various groups including the Original Nkpokiti dance Troupe from Umunze, Abia War Dance Troupe, and a surprise flawless rendition of the Anambra State Anthem by the Thai delegation appreciated and applauded by guests at the event.

I am very disappointed at this post... Anambra has alot of intelligent individuals who slog it out with one another to the end, unlike Enugu. And this make Anambra politics very competitive, exciting and transparent unlike Enugu where everybody sit around and let their godfathers force a candidate with questionable qualification on them. Seriously,I dont know who Ugwuanyi is running against....Now,are you telling me Ugwuanyi is the best Enugu can present? Thats very embarrassing if you ask me. And the lack of fighting spirit in Ndi Enugu in no way mean they are civilized. In the land of blind men a one eyed man is a hero! Enugu isn't civil, rather they lack zeal.

Secondly, its obvious you know nada about Anambra hence you erroneously assumed Eselu and Oduah are from the same zone. Please,do not drag Omanbala name in the mud....If there is something you dont know you should ask maka onye ajuju ada efu uzo. Anambra politics is the most sophisticated east of the niger...words on marble!
Bro,
I only respond out of respect for you.As i usually ignore people with the unfortunate mindset issues, who attempt in futility to potray one Igbo state as somehow better or more important than another.
I had erroneously thought that Stella Oduah was edged out by Chris Uba.
In any case, as a cornerstone Igbo state, i believe Anambra should have the best representatives at the Federal level, not men in the caliber of Chris Uba. SE zone, already has the disadvantage of having only 15 Senators while every other region of Nigeria has a minimum of 18 Senators or 21 Senators! I am concerned about the character, political astuteness and integrity of these few 15 Senators not just the one representing my village i come from. It's not merely about competently representing "Anambra" alone, but men who see the bigger picture beyond just filling their personal pocket with money. Igbo issues need men who can reason and easily rally together regardless of party affiliation to ensure the Igbo get their due share in Nigeria.

For instance, although you may not know this, for ages, the talk to build a Lagos- Calabar railway line via Onitsha and Enugu had been discussed at all levels of our national development rolling plan since the administration of Alhaji Shehu Shagari. The East-West railway plan had always been to include a railway line incorporated into the 2nd Niger bridge whenever it would be built. Recently, we have observed with dismay the so called "Coastal railway" from Lagos to Calabar which completely takes a completely different route avoiding Onitsha to Enugu route!
Arguing that the "old route" should be maintained will require all the SE senators working in "agreement " with themselves and other sympathetic zones. Now, that is why I'm concerned about who represent the SE states, not just my own little village.

If Enugu plays "quiet politics" and it brings development, then i'm all for it. Bottomline:"Anambra and Enugu bu ofu ! and Umu-nwanne!"
To act and behave otherwise is truly myopic and unbecoming of anyone who wishes Igboland well.

The APC candidate said he would achieve such feat by revamping huge coal deposits in Enugu State for generation of electricity and export.

According to a statement made available to DAILY POST, Buhari spoke at the Enugu West APC zonal rally on Saturday, where he was represented by the spokesman of the party in the South East, Osita Okechukwu.

If Buhari would truly revive the Nigerian Coal Corporation, It will be stupid not to vote for him.

But, this promise is exactly like the promise Obasanjo made in 2003 to build the 2nd Niger bridge if elected.

spyder880:
Me too, I have always loved competitive politics based on pertinent issues that affect the majority of the people. But if the vibrant politics will succeed in throwing up wrong candidates like it happened in Enugu East senatorial ticket where, after intense politicking by both Frank Nweke Jr. and Ifeoma Nwobodo were beaten by Nnaji, I will then support the quiet politics where people are undemocratically selected, we might stand a better chance at progress this way.
There is nothing like quiet politics. Enugu politics is simply civil and matured.
See how people took bribes and simply used a pen to cancel Stella Oduah's name and wrote Chris Uba Eselu's name on the ballot. While eselu never contested for PDP nomination at all. That is simply barbarism and usually leads to selecting the highest bidder, who may be the worst types of characters to represent the people.Which is exactly what causes lack of development in a place.Although i am a PDP member, but I hope and pray APGA defeats PDP in Anambra.

Anyway, let me just shut up and watch events unfold.
