Anambra State Government Marks Structures Erected along Airport Road, Nteje

Following the directive by the Anambra state government that nobody should erect any structure within 100 meters from
the airport dual carriageway in Nteje, officials of Anambra state Physical Planning Board are presently at the location
marking all the structures erected along the road.
ANSPPB officials led by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Barr Chukwunweike Francis Maduekwe equally dropped
notices for developers to immediately remove the structures or have the Board pull them down in the coming days.

This is excellent. The government said no structure should be built 100 meters from the road, why is that so difficult to obey? Nigerians are the WORST group of people that detest any planned, decent development. Why can't they simply observe the rule and also get their building plan lawfully approved?

When that place was a forest, they did not want to buy the land nor build their shops there. But as soon as the government spent billions to build a dual carriageway to the new airport, they will swarm the place and frantically begin erecting illegal structures and shops to frustrate the emergence of the place as a traffic-free, decent, well-planned boulevard in the state.

Why it is so hard for people to respect the law and follow laid down rules & regulations still baffles me.

What kills them is that they thought the usual shoddy way that southeast governors typically built the worst quality facility in the region would apply here.

The average mentality of a southeast governor is that standard world-class facilities should only be found in Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt. While anything in the southeast region should be a village standard facility.

Obiano totally shocked them in this project! Not just that he built a standard dual-carriage accessway as is the standard globally, he built a standard toll gatehouse, water systems, dedicated power access, control tower, terminal building, parking lot for hundreds of cars, and a runway of a whopping 3.7KM! Not to mention ILS and CAT 2 night landing lights, CAT 9 Fire station with truly modern plane crash fire fighting trucks/ equipment, medical facility, and even spaces for MRO and Nigerian airforce base!

They are still dazed how Obiano had the guts and determination to deliver a truly global-QUALITY facility that none of them expected in this clime.

GBAM!
Truly, Obiano has done what Napoleon could not. I don't even know where he got the money to execute this project!
My state is oil-rich, yet it took us more than 12 years to build a standard airport with a smaller apron and shorter tower, and shorter runway!

As you mentioned, he surprised many (including me) by departing from the usual low-quality projects we have come to associate with southeast state governments. I was also pleasantly surprised that he went for a CAT 9 fire station, ILS systems, and CAT II navigational systems. Anambra is lucky to have someone who is determined to give them a standard facility. I think they should name the airport after him just to say Thank You for giving the state such a wonderful high quality aviation facility.

Still you can't mention one project he commissioned in 6months?

Why ask for the last 6 months as if he had been in power for just 6 months?
Are you the only person in Nigeria that does not know that Obiano has been in power for about 7 years now?

I still don't understand this question. Does every governor in Nigeria commission a project every 6 months? So if Obiano does not build and commission a new project every 6 months, then he has not performed? Or is this just for some type of mischief?
I don't get this question.

I heard the Igalas are also seriously pushing for the award of the Idah - Aguleri federal road which the FG has been foot-dragging for a long time. A distance of about just 85KM!
When that road is completed, Idah would be only a 45 minute - 1-hour drive from this airport. Which would truly make accessing Idah and other parts of the Igala nation within just 1 hour from Lagos, Abuja, or other parts of the world.

With the completion of Idah- Aguleri road, in fact, this airport would be more accessible for someone living in Idah than someone living in Ihiala! This would be a huge game-changer and a massive investment boost for the Igala nation.

Senator Smart Adeyemi knew what he was talking about when he told Obiano that what he was doing at the airport was not only to benefit Anambra state but will benefit other citizens of the southeast and other neighboring states in Nigeria.

The Senator knew very well that some communities were so far away from the state capitals that the closest facilities to them would be this airport. For instance, Kogi state is bigger than the entire southeast. Even if an airport is built in Lokoja, this airport would still be closer to people in the entire southern part of Kogi.

Great progress of work on the completion of the interior of the terminal building, and installation of CAT 2 ILS and runway Lighting. They truly want to build a world-class airport facility. The terminal building is already looking like modern airport terminals that one sees in Europe and America.

I was so glad to observe that they are no longer driving cars with mud tires on the runway and apron. It builds up sand on the runway and apron which could be sucked into jet engines causing issues.

One hopes they will soon restrict the runway and apron such that only the construction companies will have access to these sensitive areas of the airport. The construction companies are also advised to be mindful not to buildup sand on the runway or apron with their trucks. Or, they will be responsible for sweeping the runway and apron after their construction to ensure they are totally free of sand or debris like sachet water packets.

Immigration Provost Shot Dead In Imo

By Jude Aguguo Owuamanam
Mon May 31 2021

Chief Provost of Nigerian Immigration Service in Imo, Okiemute Mrere, has been killed.

Mrere was killed on Saturday night on Owerri- Port Harcourt Road in Owerri and his body discovered in a bush on Sunday morning.

Mrere was said to be riding an Immigrations Hilux van when he was intercepted by his assailants and shot at close range.

No valuable was taken from the van—his service pistol was found on him when his body was discovered the next day.

The official Hilux van he was riding in as of the time he was attacked was said to be riddled with bullets.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Winifred Oguh said the command was yet to get full details and was still investigating the incident.

She said, “Yes I can confirm to you that we lost one of our officers, Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI) Okiemute Mrere.

“We are yet to get full details of the incident as investigations are still ongoing.

The incident is one of high profile killings in the state in the last 72 hours.

A former presidential aide, Ahmed Gulak, was killed same day by gunmen on his way to Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport to catch a flight to Abuja.

They are only doing the joke called "constitutional review" to buy time for the inevitable disintegration of Nigeria.

Fulani would NEVER agree to the true national constitution of 1963 which all sections of the country agreed to as a basis for unity in one country. They know the fact that they managed to write their own decrees and use them as "1999 constitution" would return the assets to the owners of the assets if they drop the evil 1999 constitution.

I was born in Lagos and I can boldly say the Yorubas are not as heartless as the people in the North I always say this I can never live in the North because I don't understand how people can be savages and turn to animals in seconds, we all read of how a Christian in the university was killed on the orders of now terrorist minister in the cabinet of Buhari and this same Buhari refused to remove the said minister what does that tell you? remember the preacher woman that was beheaded, you know Nigerians always like to pretend and forget

Yorubas are free and accommodating and we share the same interest and ideas and I don't see the Yorubas as the enemies of the Igbos just that you are still regarded as an Igbo man if you are not Yoruba, If your investment is in Yoruba land I can sleep with my 2 eyes closed because I know the Yorubas they are bigger than taking or destroying Igbo properties unlike the ones up north that have no regard for human life.

I know we as Igbos love business and we are truly Nigerians if there is anything called Nigerians, we are everywhere we like to assimilate and even after the war it did not stop us from going to the north to start life again we truly believe in one Nigeria, but my brothers read the handwriting on the wall.

I know it is hard and I know it is not easy to just pack up and leave but we must do it gradually because don't pretend like you don't know what is going on now, I know you read the news, do not allow those people to Slaughter you before you leave.

If you want to come back to the north later you can with your own passport and visa and then you can be protected under international law because if you are touched it would be a declaration of war.

So use your tongue to count your teeth and leave the North now, is it better to start now than when it would all be in chaos that is when you will start running, I need not remind you that as long as you are Igbo you are still Biafran boys and they might be nice to you now but when it happens they would Slaughter you like animals, history already taught us this.

This might sound like a prophecy or prediction and as much as we want to pretend Nigeria is going to break up and we must face the truth, if not now after 2023 it would die a natural death, so we must be smart and plan ahead of time.

Remember how you were given 20pounds? let me ask you if Nigeria breaks up which I know that it would, What will happen to the naira you all have in the banks? By the way, the naira is already getting worthless and we might be like Zimbabwe soon

I say to you invest in gold and dollars, buy gold and store it and put your dollars in your dom account, those abroad open dollar account and save it. even your politicians have money abroad.

Open an offshore account in tax-free countries and keep your dollars because Nigeria is heading for the rocks and nothing can stop it.

I say to you my brothers and sisters do not take this message as a joke just ask yourself what happens to my naira once Nigeria breaks up. Shalom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1aJBoBw09w

https://www.biafranboys.org/why-igbos-must-diversify-their-assets

Only a f00L will be saving their money in naira now!

Even if Nigeria does not break up, the worth of N100,000 naira last year is now worth only N30,000 naira today. Meaning if you kept your N100,000 naira savings in naira last year, it might yield an interest of N5,000 and now a total of N105,000 naira. But its true worth is just N30,500 of the money you saved last year! That means, what you could have bought for N100,000 naira last year but instead, you opted to put your money in the bank, the same thing now costs N300,000 naira today!

Meaning if you have money, invest your money in assets like land, real estate or buy hard currency and save it in your domiciliary account. However, because banks can also become distressed, always think of landed assets to invest your money so that it is immune to Nigeria's galloping inflation.

Meanwhile, since FG is now printing naira like toilet paper, its only a question of time before even buying hard currencies with naira will become so difficult.

The northern state governors don't waste their funds on the already funded Federal institutions. They concentrate on helping their own local security systems.

ChimaAdeoye:

Rebuilding and expansion of the roads are just 25% of the problem. 75% of the problem is that the people don't understand the rules and regulations around the prohibition of parking on state roads, stopping vehicles in unapproved locations, and building illegal street shops/kiosks/shanties over drainage channels to quite literally trade on the street! This thing must be enforced so that people learn that it is actually illegal to block the road with their wares or vehicle.

Illegal street parking is more of Anambra's urgent road traffic and road safety problem! The culture of parking on major roads is part of the huge road problem in Anambra state. There is no enforcement of the law prohibiting the parking of vehicles on all Trunk A and Trunk B roads (i.e State and federal highways). In other countries of the world, you can only park vehicles on Local Government roads (Side streets). Even at that, it has to be within a defined space and a certain distance from the curb so that you don't impede the flow of traffic on such streets. These laws are not enforced in Nigeria particularly in Onitsha, Nnewi, and Aba. Even the expressway was used as a truck and disused caterpillar park until Obiano started towing their broken-down trucks and caterpillars away at Nkpor and making them pay huge fines before they are released. Thus, the huge traffic at the Nkpor area of the expressway disappeared.

While I totally agree with you that Anambra needs wider roads (Which may be impossible now without widespread demolitions), we must first enforce the parking laws as a normal country. Then deal with street traders who display their wares on the road. Unless the right of way rules are enforced, even if you build a 10 lane expressway, people will still block them eventually with markets and parked broken down vehicles because nobody stops them from breaking the law.

In the past, most governors didn't even care if you blocked a street and built a market or 4 story building. It's a mentality issue.

It will take a very very very very very very serious governor to bring about sanity. It's truly beyond merely expanding streets.

It will take a lot of willpower to enforce these laws because almost no governor had bothered with seriously enforcing the town planning laws, traffic laws, and laws against street trading.
