Anambra State Government Marks Structures Erected along Airport Road, Nteje

Following the directive by the Anambra state government that nobody should erect any structure within 100 meters from
the airport dual carriageway in Nteje, officials of Anambra state Physical Planning Board are presently at the location
marking all the structures erected along the road.
ANSPPB officials led by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Barr Chukwunweike Francis Maduekwe equally dropped
notices for developers to immediately remove the structures or have the Board pull them down in the coming days.

What kills them is that they thought the usual shoddy way that southeast governors typically built the worst quality facility in the region would apply here.

The average mentality of a southeast governor is that standard world-class facilities should only be found in Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt. While anything in the southeast region should be a village standard facility.

Obiano totally shocked them in this project! Not just that he built a standard dual-carriage accessway as is the standard globally, he built a standard toll gatehouse, water systems, dedicated power access, control tower, terminal building, parking lot for hundreds of cars, and a runway of a whopping 3.7KM! Not to mention ILS and CAT 2 night landing lights, CAT 9 Fire station with truly modern plane crash fire fighting trucks/ equipment, medical facility, and even spaces for MRO and Nigerian airforce base!

They are still dazed how Obiano had the guts and determination to deliver a truly global-QUALITY facility that none of them expected in this clime.

I heard the Igalas are also seriously pushing for the award of the Idah - Aguleri federal road which the FG has been foot-dragging for a long time. A distance of about just 85KM!
When that road is completed, Idah would be only a 45 minute - 1-hour drive from this airport. Which would truly make accessing Idah and other parts of the Igala nation within just 1 hour from Lagos, Abuja, or other parts of the world.

With the completion of Idah- Aguleri road, in fact, this airport would be more accessible for someone living in Idah than someone living in Ihiala! This would be a huge game-changer and a massive investment boost for the Igala nation.

Immigration Provost Shot Dead In Imo

Chief Provost of Nigerian Immigration Service in Imo, Okiemute Mrere, has been killed.

Mrere was killed on Saturday night on Owerri- Port Harcourt Road in Owerri and his body discovered in a bush on Sunday morning.


Mrere was said to be riding an Immigrations Hilux van when he was intercepted by his assailants and shot at close range.

No valuable was taken from the van—his service pistol was found on him when his body was discovered the next day.

The official Hilux van he was riding in as of the time he was attacked was said to be riddled with bullets.



The command’s Public Relations Officer, Winifred Oguh said the command was yet to get full details and was still investigating the incident.

She said, “Yes I can confirm to you that we lost one of our officers, Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI) Okiemute Mrere.

“We are yet to get full details of the incident as investigations are still ongoing.



The incident is one of high profile killings in the state in the last 72 hours.

A former presidential aide, Ahmed Gulak, was killed same day by gunmen on his way to Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport to catch a flight to Abuja.

I was born in Lagos and I can boldly say the Yorubas are not as heartless as the people in the North I always say this I can never live in the North because I don't understand how people can be savages and turn to animals in seconds, we all read of how a Christian in the university was killed on the orders of now terrorist minister in the cabinet of Buhari and this same Buhari refused to remove the said minister what does that tell you? remember the preacher woman that was beheaded, you know Nigerians always like to pretend and forget


Yorubas are free and accommodating and we share the same interest and ideas and I don't see the Yorubas as the enemies of the Igbos just that you are still regarded as an Igbo man if you are not Yoruba, If your investment is in Yoruba land I can sleep with my 2 eyes closed because I know the Yorubas they are bigger than taking or destroying Igbo properties unlike the ones up north that have no regard for human life.


I know we as Igbos love business and we are truly Nigerians if there is anything called Nigerians, we are everywhere we like to assimilate and even after the war it did not stop us from going to the north to start life again we truly believe in one Nigeria, but my brothers read the handwriting on the wall.

If you want to come back to the north later you can with your own passport and visa and then you can be protected under international law because if you are touched it would be a declaration of war.


So use your tongue to count your teeth and leave the North now, is it better to start now than when it would all be in chaos that is when you will start running, I need not remind you that as long as you are Igbo you are still Biafran boys and they might be nice to you now but when it happens they would Slaughter you like animals, history already taught us this.

Rebuilding and expansion of the roads are just 25% of the problem. 75% of the problem is that the people don't understand the rules and regulations around the prohibition of parking on state roads, stopping vehicles in unapproved locations, and building illegal street shops/kiosks/shanties over drainage channels to quite literally trade on the street! This thing must be enforced so that people learn that it is actually illegal to block the road with their wares or vehicle.

Illegal street parking is more of Anambra's urgent road traffic and road safety problem! The culture of parking on major roads is part of the huge road problem in Anambra state. There is no enforcement of the law prohibiting the parking of vehicles on all Trunk A and Trunk B roads (i.e State and federal highways). In other countries of the world, you can only park vehicles on Local Government roads (Side streets). Even at that, it has to be within a defined space and a certain distance from the curb so that you don't impede the flow of traffic on such streets. These laws are not enforced in Nigeria particularly in Onitsha, Nnewi, and Aba. Even the expressway was used as a truck and disused caterpillar park until Obiano started towing their broken-down trucks and caterpillars away at Nkpor and making them pay huge fines before they are released. Thus, the huge traffic at the Nkpor area of the expressway disappeared.

While I totally agree with you that Anambra needs wider roads (Which may be impossible now without widespread demolitions), we must first enforce the parking laws as a normal country. Then deal with street traders who display their wares on the road. Unless the right of way rules are enforced, even if you build a 10 lane expressway, people will still block them eventually with markets and parked broken down vehicles because nobody stops them from breaking the law.
