These things we say here may seem powerless, but on the other hand, you never know who is reading, someone that knows their staff, manager, and director should make them see this.

Tell them we are tired of second class service, while spending our money and time there.

I do not think the observation I am going to make now will have any effect on the share price of oceanic bank, but I must state here that their service delivery is very poor.

I went to Oceanic bank to pay in some money, the queve was too long so I dashed out to another part of town and paid into Zenith, another money. On coming back to Oceanic, the line was still too long so I moved again to Spring bank and made more payments, I also did the same thing at Access, and when I came back to Oceanic, I still had up to five persons to wait fo before Icould be attended to!

Paid into three banks in three diferent parts of town and still its not my turn at Oceanic? and I know they dont have the largest # of customers.

Transcorp was a good idea, but the time to realize your short time investment goals is not 2008 if you invested in Transcorp. These are my reasons for thinking so;

1 they are still in a period of reorganisation/setting up the company.

2 the management has still not got a firm grasp of affairs in the company.

3. none of the companys products/ services has started to command a fair market share.

4. some directors that invested heavily earlier on may get inpatient soon and divest, thereby plunging the share price very low.

5. the company may not still make any profits next year.

6. sad as it may sound, I will sell the little stake Ihave in the company and get into another company, now.

How will this POIn the non banking sector work? I am asking because I want to know if fnds will be returned to oversubscribers like the case of FBN and Access. If they will not return money, then this AIICO will be a nice one to end the year.

@barge, I dont relly have a low risk appetite as am ready to take loads of risks, but imagine what it could make investors do; a guy bought stocks with a margin facility, only to be forced to sell off to pay off the loan earlier than he wanted, reasons; he cant keep the position cause he has got to pay back.

Please let us not go into loans issue here, lets look at better stocks.
Does anyone think that NGC will give bonus next year? I sabi say heavy pockets full here but make una just tell me wetin una feel so that only me go buy am! I beg una.

@yodiyokun, you are peharps right in stating ther that it works both ways sometimes, especially when demands wants to meet supply, volume will become higher. But that is the place where trend watcher kick in, you see the volume has told them a story. They will interprete what the volume says, I never said volumes should be used without reading what it means.

For me charts give me headaches, I have always been a student of the 'common sense' approach to investing, and trading, I dont want to make the type of issue I had while arguing in a thread in stockmarketnigeriam
.Com, called investing vs trading. And please
dont give me a loan to trade stocks even without charging me interest, I am better making mistakes and learning from it all with my own cash.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 7:44pm On Dec 13, 2007
@yodiyokun, volume is everything in the stock market. Some trend watchers pay very firm attention to volume as this has a big story to tell about the availability or otherwise of any particular stock. High volumes suggest availability while low volumes suggest scarcity.
Also a stock that is sparsely available will experience scarcity immediately large volumes are requested. Some traders love this a lot. Used it myself immediately I found out the number of shares that Nig german has. I saw that only about 30 mil units will form the basis for availability since others are held by top directors and institutions.
Hope this helps.

I sometimes refuse to analyse stocks properly, not because am not am engineer (hehehe) but because too much analyses will bring about a disease in investing called analysis-paralisis!
The syptoms of the disease includes forgetting vital facts about a stock, being too scared to buy any stock, forgetting to take your bath before going to bed.Note also that am not a medical doctor, but I can diagnose most investment diseases. (Laughs)

I think this GDR thing is a very good thing for our stock market. This is because the people that holds the ones in foreign land will always sell off immediately they feel a stock is expensive (in comparison to its P/E. Also remember that they will sell at the slightest indication of bad news which they have aplenty from the negative publicity we get daily from the western press.

But the way i look at it is like this, the stock prices will be cheap in comparison to its PE since these foreign holders will not feel as emotional as we feel here for our stocks. GTB would have been selling today at around N45 if not for the GDR and our people will still be buying it! Your broker will still be recommending it even with a PE of 70!

Personally I will like to see all our banking stocks in GDR.

Did you just say Meristem? Well, I was thinking they are a very nice outfit (never used them myself) until somebody in a thread in stockmarketnigeria.com ripped them to pieces. He says their service delivery is horrible and that they have untrained receptionists. Check out the thread called First bank allocation in that forum for more reading.

I still haven’t gotten a satisfying answer to one question bugging my mind. Supposing your stock broker fails to meet the 1 bil naira capital base by next yr end, and your stocks are still lodged with him, what happens to the stocks since the broker will not be allowed to trade on them forthwith?

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 11:06am On Dec 13, 2007
Yesterday’s transaction on inerenergy ins. was very heavy, about 120 mil exchanged hands, I am seeing it as a point of inflection, by that I mean that demand has started to match supply; hence price will start to change. I also think that the stock may experience some loss in price for a few days until such a time those buyers will see the price as low enough to enter.

I am still watching UBA. Does anyone in the house have reasons to think this stock will rally in a two month time frame?
The end of year is gone and the profitability trend is on the up scale. If we wait for the results to be announced, peharps you will see it to buy at N65-N70 range.
