Some stocks that were laggards has performed very highly, check out NATIONAL SALTS, BCC, COSTAIN, IPWA etc

We all know its the interference of ODUA GROUP that has been affecting Wema negatively.

Besides, for short term investors, some has reaped up to a hundred percent appreciation on the stock this year alone, the rest as they say is history.

BusinessRe: Why Are Major Oil Companies In Nigeria Controlled By Yorubas And Hausas? by ckenneths(m): 11:29pm On May 13, 2007
adconline, you are just fuming and spraying at everything and anything that looks like it will prevent you from selfishly acquirig what should have belonged to every Nigerian.

You sound like a very lazy , disoriented, disillusioned, and even confused angry spoilt child, that does not even have the decency to know where to post your threads.

I would have waved aside your rantings if I saw it in the politics section, but to post it in the business side is to say the least, idiotic.

Please take your anger to those that annoyed you instead of infecting others with your myopic stupidity !

Your kind of person sound poor, frustrated and confused, and it must be because of this very attitude that kept you in this condition.

You are disturbed and depressed and urgently needs medical help before this condition gets farther than this.

TALK TO A SHRINK, FAST !

If only people will listen, money will be the least of their problems, but they start celebrating too early, squandering their seed money.

Yet when it all comes crashing down, they blame the witches.

That's ma point exactly, almost all salts now have the NAFDAC eye drawn on them. Its going to take some time for one brand to be dominant.

Who said Michelin cannot stage a comeback after closing their factory? infact news from the grapevine says the same Dangote is even interested in buying Michelin operations in Nigeria.

Who can doubt that when Dangote has over 200 heavy duty trucks involved in moving cement and sugar etc all over the country.

If that happens, Dunlop do not stand a chance against Michelin.

On the salt issue, my mum tells me that she never asks the name a any particular producer before buying salt. Right now, people have not started demanding for National salts only.

What do you people say about Nestle foods, do you think they are Dominant enough in their area.
BusinessRe: Let's Talk About Warren Buffet by ckenneths(m): 5:54pm On Apr 23, 2007
@Junegirl, Dangote sugar agreed, Salt has so many competitors, except he will buy them all up. But for Dunlop, how can they compete with Michelin when they stage their comeback. y know brands matter a lot.

After reading 'Buffet, the making of an American capitalist' I still went and bought 'Buffetology' last week. Now I see this one as better than the one I read before. The man is a complete strategist. From the book I learnt that its not good changing strategies. Choose the strategy that will work for you and stick with it .

There is a question I will like to ask the people that read any of these books, Buffet liked to invest in companies that will be dominant leaders in the sectors they operate in. Which companies here can be likened to [these]? Any ideas?

Tha billions you will rake in from ticket sales will numb your mind !

BusinessRe: Let's Talk About Warren Buffet by ckenneths(m): 12:38pm On Apr 11, 2007
Mr buffet once said of those class of money managers and highly paid invesment analysts who believed his methods are outdated,'if you are so smart, how come am so rich?
He likened their system of stock selection like flipping coins or throwing darts at stock names to use it for stock selection, without any regard for the individual company in consideration.
BusinessRe: Let's Talk About Warren Buffet by ckenneths(m): 12:13pm On Apr 11, 2007
Mr. Buffet's investment strategies could be applied in the Nigerian environment, essentially its the buy and hold strategy. He does't also buy every stock. He narrows his stock picks to well researched companies with sound fundamentals but for one reason or the other, Mr Market has failed to notice the hidden values of the stock.

A lot of investment gurus and money managers who seemed to be speeding down at the opposite direction all got their fingers burnt, these people seemed to buy everything and sell everything without any consideration to the Buffet methodology.

There is a certain example of one Fred Carr, whos ideology is like 'we fall in love with nothing, every morning every stock in the portfolio is for sale, including my coat and tie! .
Their only consideration is about how much did we make and how fast.
For the dicerning investor, there are quite a number of stocks with hidden potentials we can buy and enjoy in the future, The uncertainities notwithstanding.
BusinessRe: Let's Talk About Warren Buffet by ckenneths(m): 9:10am On Apr 08, 2007
I think the best book ever written about Warren Buffet is 'Buffet, the making of an american capitalist. This book started to tell the Buffet story from when he was around six years old, living in Omaha, Nebraska US. The guy was a real whiz kid back then and can do a lot with numbers, which proved very useful to him as he discovered investments. He was a newspaper distributor in his early teens.

He also started investing early, and had never looked back ever since. An avid reader who can read the annual report of almost every company from back to back. He lived for investments and started managing peoples money in his teens, starting from his friends and relatives. Honest and transparent in his dealings with money.

He is a long timer in his investments, believing that a company is not worth buying if you cant see it in your minds eye still performing after after around ten years from the time you bought. This book is a bible to investors. I think everybody interested in investments should first study the topic called BUFFETOLOGY.

BusinessRe: Penny Stocks: How Profitable? by ckenneths(m): 9:34am On Mar 15, 2007
Penny stocks have been having a fantastic performance of late, but I noticed that they are scarce also. Paid my broker for costain, he couldnt buy , so I changed the order to IPWA, still it was not in the market, still I changed the order again to STANDARD INSURANCE, kosi, BOC GASES, no way, UTC and so many others, so how do we get them when they are still cheap.

BusinessRe: Share Tips! by ckenneths(m): 10:03am On Feb 04, 2007
We all seem to be forgetting that if the possibility of ZENITH BANK giving a bonus share this year is really high,
I think that places them firmly on the favorites list when you consider ROI.
BusinessRe: Share Tips! by ckenneths(m): 9:59am On Feb 04, 2007
My take on this, go for GTB, WAPCO, OCEANIC, and dont even think of banking in Nigeria without a mention of the old soldier that is still pushing ahead, FIRST BANK !
