I am starting to feel that PET bottles will be in high demand soon, so who are the major pet bottle manufacturers and how can we get a bite at them.

How about canning as an option, what of can beers, can coke? What do you guys think?
BusinessRe: Should I Manage My Stocks On My Own Or Use Portfolio Managers by ckenneths(m): 10:15am On Dec 11, 2007
If i were you, I would manage it myself. If you are in Abuja, deal with an Abuja brokerage firm.

That NAFDAC policy against bottled drinks, how can it affect bottling companies like NBC and NBL,7up Guinness etc and their operations, can this affect their operations negatively. What of its effects on profitability?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 9:10am On Dec 11, 2007
I forgot to add that CPL produces crown corks for the bottled products, I dont know how truthful it is but the source insists that CPL also produces crowns for 7up, Guinness etc.

Does anyone know how truthful that is?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 9:05am On Dec 11, 2007
I also heard that they(NBC) owns CPL, crown products limited at Ijebu Ode.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 8:25am On Dec 11, 2007
@wanajo, I have enjoyed some quick profits from unity bankn so you can understand my belief, got in at 5.50, got bonus, sold at 8.08 three months later.

As for the chain in NBC, NBC owns a substancial stake in Beta glass, AG Leventis of course owns a majority of NBC shares and so the all attend the same meetings.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 7:47am On Dec 11, 2007
@tiwantiwa, my conservative 'guesstimate' is N10 by Q1 2008. This is a bank that has a point to prove. I loved their move of not issuing dividends this yr. It may add to their capital and swell profits for next financial year. And did you see their last result? Impressive I must say.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 7:08am On Dec 11, 2007
If AG leventis gets to N5, i will offlloadn, bought at N3.46 and has my eye on unity bank especially now it is heading down.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 3:43pm On Dec 10, 2007
The only thing I noticed from reading that business day news is that South Africans are trying to form a cartel here, watch it, they are selling part of MTN, an SA company, through another SA bank IBTC, (owned by Stanbic) and advertising it through an SA affiliated newspaper, business day. Is it healthy for our business environment, who can tell? And to think our guys are begging to get there and slave for them, while they raid the companies here for wealth?

Watch the links.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 3:09pm On Dec 10, 2007
Public offers have been a no go for me since this year, I had shunned all of them, and I now see I am correct to do so. Though there are some very good ones, the thing that annoys me most is the delay; I can get better deals from the secondary market.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 3:03pm On Dec 10, 2007
I am expecting to see some rise in the shares of IBTC, this is because the changes that will occur in their business operations as a result of their synergy with Stanbic is expected to be in the positive. However it is not all up hill as it may go down a bit before the climb.

Also taking their last result as a basis for analysis, and putting their 18.5 b shares into consideration, the p/e will be around 50 something, looks high to me.

What do the gurus here think before I go ahead and load this one?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by ckenneths(m): 2:47pm On Dec 10, 2007
@NBA, Roughcut, thanks guys, I actually started here, then had to stay at the other side for long. Much respects to the much respected gurus here. Your incisive analysis cannot pass unnoticed, I will even suggest Yar Adua includes your names in the next MON, OFR, GCFR, ETC ETC awards.

You people are doing too much to lift the ignorance and poverty off our people.

BusinessRe: Yar'adua Orders Reopening Of Ibeto Cement Factory – Cement Prices To Crash & Imp by ckenneths(m): 8:23am On Jul 26, 2007
This may do more harm than good, since the local economy which we have been trying to nurture will now fight for dear life against the cheap cement imported from asia. Short term the prices may crash, while long term the economy will suffer. Now what will outsiders think of us, a people with a lot of polcy inconsistency, which will harm their future business.
BusinessRe: Mexican, Carlos Slim, Is World's Richest Man With $67 Billion by ckenneths(m): 8:27am On Jul 22, 2007
Why are we wasting time debating who should be richest man, someone should call Bill or Carlos and beg the two of them to come here and give us power supply, since our PHCN is dead, whoever responds first should be trully installed to be worlds richest!
InvestmentRe: How Do I Get A CSCS Number? by ckenneths(m): 8:02am On Jul 22, 2007
I don't know if it was luck or the way its supposed to be, but I opened a stockbroking account and was sent a cscs number and a clearing house number to my phone as text. Since then I have been receiving alerts from cscs whenever I buy shares from the secondary market.am enjoying the notifications, kind of helps me confirm purchases. Meanwhile I don't pay any charges.

BusinessRe: Access Bank Offer @n14.90k - Would You Invest? by ckenneths(m): 7:41pm On Jun 08, 2007
If the proponents on the side of access as being a good offer are serious on the N4.42 discount, then what can we say of FBN, a more sound bank with a discount of N 7.40 ?

CrimeRe: How To Stop 419 and Yahoo Boys by ckenneths(m): 11:31am On Jun 03, 2007
Corruption is the dirtiest disease worrying this country, worse than AIDS,leprosy and any other smelly thing you can think of.
Its the reason why we are so poor, and the cycle of poverty cannot be broken unless the perpetrators of these evil acts are brought to book.
I dont care what name you choose to call it, it can be govt. embezzlement, 419, pick pockets, over invoicing, contract scams or even stealing a cube of maggi. They are all bad things that should only be abhorred.

419 is dirty and no matter how the perpetrators want to explain it away by masking the name as reparation, or a means of survival, it will continue to be evil. An armed robber and a prostitute may have their reason for getting into the crime they commit, but that will never make the larger society to view the crime with any less apathy.

For the yahoo boys, continue to ply your trade, there's always the long arm of the law to catch you. But your concience will turn out to be your worst punisher. Ask all other crooks how they feel.

BusinessRe: Any Jamaicans In Nigeria? Will Nigeria Welcome Me There For Business? by ckenneths(m): 9:27pm On May 20, 2007
And you even said you wish me a prosperous future? well how about that after your hot words! My post is innocent enough.

I have made hundreds prosperous already so I guess the prosperity you are wishing will go on to bless more of our people. Thanks all the same.

Just learn to tone down your responses and re-read posts before opening fire, all things in this country are just beautiful, we are having the fun of our lives and thats why I can afford to sit here in Nigeria and joke about many things. There's water, good roads, light etc.
Yes let me use simple language for people like pmdabor who cannot understand riddles. Its a nice country for all serious people. All are invited including - yes YOU.
BusinessRe: Any Jamaicans In Nigeria? Will Nigeria Welcome Me There For Business? by ckenneths(m): 9:17pm On May 20, 2007
Pmdabor, I am not bitter in the least, you simply did not understand my style of writing in that post. I was using opposites to ask the guy to come in if he is serious.

On success, things really did work out for me big time and you need to know just how prosperous who you are writing about is. But I think we are digressing.

You are supposed to feel more ashamed because you even sound much more rude and bitter than I did. You sound pissed off about something else?

Like I said earlier, I was using opposites to add humour to the whole write up instead of sounding as if we are begging him to come and help us here.
BusinessRe: Any Jamaicans In Nigeria? Will Nigeria Welcome Me There For Business? by ckenneths(m): 5:34pm On May 20, 2007
Just when I think the country is getting better and we wre going to start enjoying life like other countries, due to improved economic conditions, and these Jamaicans and South Africans and Indians, Chinese will start to form a queve to struggle for the opportunity here.

Well I have news for you, I was given a raw deal which left me penniless and frustrated when I tried to live abroad.
So now am here, let all of you guys stay put in your country.

Infact there are no roads here, no water, light goes off every two minutes, I can go on and on and on.

So Jamaican, relax in Jamaica or did you say Uk?

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Consultant by ckenneths(m): 10:46am On May 20, 2007
The service you are offering seems good enough, more so as most broking firms lack the time and attention to attend to their clients.

I doubt if there is any stockbroker with enough time to explain the nitty-gritty of investments to new clients. They are only concerned with cashing your cheque and proceeding to the trading floor.

So try to do some research that will draw clients to you since some of the services you listed is already being offered by others for free.
