thanks guyz, the thing is that the car is just a year old and it has been doing just fine, I never knew the air filter had decayed that way, i am currently experiencing a challenge which is, the car stalls at interval and does hard starting, so I decided to check what is there, pop it this morning and saw it. could the car stalling be related to that?

of course I am changing it ryt now

Actually , you can put a car in Reverse when driving, I have done that on my Audi A6 4.2. What happens is that the car will act like its in neutral and slow down completely and then engage the reverse gear . I was experimenting to see what will happen if I put it in R while driving .
Most auto transmission are build like this to prevent damage to the transmission .

mehn you chop concrete o, though I have tried it once, what I discovered was that without engaging the break pedal the gear shift button doesn't work and without the button the shift stick doesn't move, may be it depends on design, I tryed it on tinny light camry, only movements like N to D or N to R can work without the gear shift lock (bottun).
