I wont call this an East West battle because some western countries are actually with Huawei on 5g

America wants to remain on 4g because of pride.

No they wanted to be the first to develop 5g and run a monopoly

Huawei, the Chinese technology company considered a security threat by the US, has signed a deal with Russian telecoms company MTS to develop a 5G network in the country over the next year.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of a meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian president Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The deal will see “the development of 5G technologies and the pilot launch of fifth-generation networks in 2019-2020”, MTS said in a statement on Wednesday.

Quoted in the statement, Huawei’s Guo Ping, one of the company’s chairmen on rotation, said he was “very happy” with the agreement “in an area of strategic importance like 5G”.


At a Moscow meeting between Putin and Xi, the Chinese leader called his Russian counterpart his “close friend”, noting that they had met nearly 30 times over the past six years. The trip is Xi’s eighth to Russia since 2012.

“We will strengthen our mutual support on key issues,” Xi said, sitting next to Putin in an ornate Kremlin hall.

Moscow’s ties with the US have declined sharply over the Ukrainian crisis, the war in Syria and the allegations of Kremlin meddling in the US 2016 presidential elections, while China is engaged in a spiralling trade war with Washington.

“Protectionism and unilateral approaches are on the rise, and a policy of force and hegemonism is increasingly taking hold,” Xi said.

Huawei has been in turmoil since May, when the Trump administration banned US companies from selling high-tech equipment to Huawei over suspicions it was spying for Beijing.

Experts say the US decision, which is to come into force within three months, threatens the survival of the company, which is highly dependent on US chips for its phones.


Several companies have already distanced themselves from Huawei, including Google, whose Android system equips the vast majority of smartphones in the world.

Nigerian lawmaker Senator Godswill Akpabio Thursday apologised to members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for leaving the party months before the 2019 general elections.

“I apologize to my colleagues in the PDP for the manner I left,” Akpabio said at the 8th Senate valedictory session in Abuja.

“I know they miss me.”

Akpabio left the PDP in August 2018 for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“What I have done today is to link the people of Akwa Ibom to the centre. Akpabio is now in APC.”

Akpabio, a former Akwa Ibom State governor, resigned his position as the Senate minority leader and was accorded a heroic reception by supporters and admirers at the mega rally held at the Ikot Ekpene township stadium to officially receive him to APC.

About 30 APC senators and members of National Working Committee (NWC), including then acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who was represented by the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole and the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

However, after over eight months in the ruling party, Akpabio said his stay in the Senate the APC has been a mixture of different feelings.

“My stay in the 8th Senate is a mixture of sadness and happiness,” Akpabio said.

Akpabio’s defection to the APC was perceived as a massive boost for the party in the South-south during the general elections in February 2019.

APC, as at the time of Akpabio’s defection from the PDP, had lost about 15 senators including Senate President Bukola Saraki to the opposition party.

If they succeed in launching the 6g network before the US companies, the US government will place one false allegation on them,and they will start struggling like Huawei.
If they are smart and foresighted, they should team up with Huawei and create a third force os, so as to forestall the prospects of their business being negatively affected by the US and Google sanctions.

Industrial activities were however high in Akwa as it topped Rivers and Delta maybe due to the presence of oil companies.

Services were not surprising as FCT took the lead while the rest followed

Overall Ibom and FCT performed very well

America wants to be the 1st to introduve 5g just like they did 4g because it was a colossal boost to the economy adding billions in GDP and jobs and it has already been established that if us wins the 5g race then it would triple or quadruple what it did for 4g and China doesn't want that again and because huwaei is one of the trailblazers in 5g creation they want to shut them down by bullying like how you said and China doesn't want to chicken out like other countries another funny fact that amuses me is that most ppl think the US is the good guy in all this when this is entirely not the case their mentality has always been if you can't beat them, break their legs and continue running
