Fameli,
As long as th PCC was issued after the last time you were in the country (Malaysia), and you have not visited or plan to visit (cumulative 6months afterwards), YOUR PCC is VALID indefinitely.
Th validity of PCC only applies to current country of residence
This is very true! But he/she is saying the PCC carries an expiry date for this october. I dont know how this will impact his/her application but @fameli if you choose to use this pcc regardless of the expiry date on it, it'll be wise to state in your LOE that you've not visited malaysia again since you left in 2013 and show proof of that too so as to avoid any misunderstanding. If you ask me though, i'll say dont gamble with something like this, just get a new one or try to submit before the expiry date on the pcc

Oga Sir/Madam... Can you just forget this issue. The point has been made, so move on!

DO NOT ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL ESPECIALLY ON THIS THREAD, IF SOMEONE ELSE HAVE SAID IT IN THE PAST AND NOT CAUTIONED DOESN'T MEAN IT IS RIGHT!
Mr. SMSLIVE, if you read my posts concerning this matter from the beginning you will clearly understand what it is about as opposed to coming in at the end and making assumptions as to what advice im giving.I will not take likely any post that implies im giving illegal advice so dont tell me what i should forget or not forget. its easy to make assertions that stick even though they are false. So please before you attempt to end a matter, try and understand it from the beginning and direct your advice to the appropriate person. Thank you very much and have a good day.

I've a question. I've a friend who says he will have to spend 1 million naira, that's almost $3,000 to apply for visa ...like visit visa or any visa to canada, from Nigeria? He said this is the cost of paying agents to process the applications to Canada and what they told him. I told him he doesn't need to use an agent but he says its better. Is this true? Are y'all spending that much to process your application to canada?? This isn't about me ooo, I'm already overseas. Just want to get a clearer picture of what he's saying. He says he doesn't want to spend that much and lose money in case his application is rejected so he's asking me to sponsor him instead.
Some agents even charge as much as $4000. If he commits to it he can do it himself. almost everyone on this forum is processing their PR application themselves $3000 is plenty money to dash someone just to create a profile for me and upload all the documents i have to still provide myself. At the end of the day he will have to do the bulk of the work but if he feels he doesnt have the time to spare but has the money to spend abeg tell him to PM me, i will only collect $2000 pere! grin grin . But on a more serious note he should just come on this forum and read from page 0. All the information he needs to get a head start is here.

I get what you are saying, the legality of them requesting for your balance, I dont know about how the law views that. but what is there to stop one from moving out the fund after submitting SOA if balances cant be confirmed, at least minimum balance? Does it mean CIC just takes Post SOA in good faith? particularly in cases where it isnt fixed deposit or TB. if this is the case, then I would like to think that moving out cash after submitting SOA would have been so wide spread by now that any debate about it would be redundant. well, I am just thinking out loud sha, i dont have anything to substantiate my thoughts.

Perhaps those who have done so could share their experience.

UPDATE
I looked it up on Quora and a respondent there who claims to have worked in a dept that replies enquiries from embassies on bank statement, confirmed what you said. i still find it hard to believe that there is a tiny loophole here to explore grin I would expect among the plenty terms and conditions CIC makes us consent to, we would have given them the power to verify balance ..Anyways Here is what he said in quote
I'm just seeing this! The loopholes in this process eh! Hmmm, infact let me keep shut grin All the terms and conditions is just so they can sleep well at night grin grin

take gift deeds for example too, im very sure cic knows that most of them are borrowed money as opposed to a gift but their hands are tied. They have absolutely no way of proving otherwise and so they accept it in good faith.

That's the loophole with this process and im sure CIC knows that. There's not much they can do than to take the POF that most applicants show in good faith or request for an updated SOA at their discretion to confirm that the applicant has the required POF. Same thing goes for the medicals and police certificate they make us submit. The fact that an applicant passed medicals doesnt make that same applicant immune from contacting HIV or any other ailment that may put a strain on their government's pockets or pose danger to their citizens. In the end, after they've done their best to meticulously examine and verify the information provided to them by an applicant and the ones available on open source channels are consistent and authentic, they give PR status on your merit and good faith really.

well i once asked an internal auditor at Sterling bank and he said they do in cases where the requesting body has your bank statement, i think even said they have a dedicated desk for such correspondence. At the time, I was applying for canadian study visa and I knew of someone whose application was denied over funds, the sharp dude pulled out the funds after submitting SOA and didnt replace it.

But just to be double sure, I would ask the auditor guy again, not saying his word is law sha.. but it makes some sense to me, cos i dont see why people wouldnt pull out funds after submitting SOA if the balance cant be checked.
The bank can only confirm or deny the authenticity of the statement and that the information provided on that statement is correct. But as for your current balance or any other activity on your account, they will need a warrant from the appropriate channel to get it. If any banker should give out your personal information to anyone other than you or persons authorized by you, they are in serious trouble because you can hammer on top their head! CIC is only privy to the information you provide to them in this situation and all they can do is to verify that the document (i.e bank statement) is authentic and the information on it has not been tampered with.

Hey hey!! Why, thank you!

Homeschooling has been mostly great. We have had some not so good days, or 1 bad day lol. I got short with him for not being able to write number 2 well. I felt bad that day, he looked so sad. He said to his dad, "I didn't write my number 2 properly. Mama is not proud of me anymore." It took a lot of convincing by his dad for him to pick up his pencil and write it again. He kept saying, "I don't know how to do it." Mr. O gave me a few glances grin grin grin "You have to be more patient with him, Mrs. O" he said at least twice.

However, now his number 2 is almost perfect! So, I am learning everyday. I have to always remember that he is 3 years old and I have to be patient. A bit of tough love/tiger mum love can't hurt every once in a while grin grin grin grin

Have you read the book - Amy Chua - The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother? It is a good read. I think I am half tiger mum if there is anything like that. Lmao!

Anyway, other than that, he loves his exercises and keeps asking for more! We have introduced science experiments too. He is so excited. Of course, I am sifting through the internet for experiments that do not require me to break the bank or go out to the store to get serious supplies. I have been using https://gosciencegirls.com/3-4years/ as our main resource point. This week's exercise was to peel the shell off a raw egg. He cannot wait for the big reveal on Tuesday!!

Our son was the first to wake up this morning. By the time I woke up, he had somehow found 1 exercise sheet that was undone and he did it by himself. All in all, it has been a learning experience for all of us, and we are sure that by the end of the school year, we would be such proud parents!!

You are doing a fine job!!! Its not easy schooling your own kid! It sure requires a lot of patience, discipline and the ability to check your emotions. It can really be challenging trying to draw the line between parent/teacher mode for both the child and parent and can be frustrating sometimes! but its also a great way to also bond with your child and know them first hand there is nothing more precious than them. You learn how they handle all the emotions that come with learning, failing and wining and the great thing is that you as the parent are the one there to teach them how well to handle these emotions. Its a beautiful experience i must say. You are doing a great job!!! cool cool cool and i know The hardwork you are putting into it definitely pay off at the end of the school year! WELL DONE MA'AM!!!! More grease to your elbow and dont forget to keep us updated. smiley smiley

On a serious note, I believe you can but it is dicey... cant predict when CIC would check.
Lol!!! I believe you can borrow from the funds and replace it as soon as you can. There is no way for CIC to know what your current account balance is without asking you to submit a new statement. Your bank will never give out your information to a 3rd party, i mean they wont even give you your information if your signature is not consistent or you cant answer your own security questions.

Hello I need help here.

My spouse transferred a lump sum to my account for the purpose of the application, do I need him to give me a gift deed for it or just explain in the letter of explanation.

If yes, does gift deed need to be notarized?
He doesnt need to give you a gift deed. He just needs to write a letter stating that he made the funds available to you for the PR application and attach proof of transfer i.e statement showing the transfer from his account to yours. He just needs to attach that day's statement.

Gooday house.please i have two questions i would like to ask.
1. Will my spouse ielts scores still be added to mine even if he doesnt meet the required scores or does it mean the exam is a waste?
2. Can i use wes alone to get few more points if my spouse doesnt write ielts.
3.can one add certification( health safety certificate.)to be evaluated by wes. (i.e courses taken for few weeks to get certificat)which is being used on the job by the principal applicant and has years of experience and in it under noc. Can one get points with such?
1. If i get your question right, you are asking if your spouse ielts will add points for you. Yes it will add extra points to your CRS score provided his ielts results is a minimum of CLB4.
2. Your WES report is a pre-requisite to be accepted into the pool. Your spouse's ielts result adds more points to CRS score.
3. I dont really get this question... But if you mean a short professional certification, it MAY not do much for you.

But this is not entirely correct.

People have been rejected for not including documents not specifically asked for .e.g ECA. CIC did not ask of scanned proof of ECA yet people have lost money/time by not including it. Also people have shortened their process times by including documents before they are requested for. E.g. the Form/Schedule A.

In other words, let everybody read and then upload what they think they understand. Arrange it properly, use an LOE if necessary and pray because asides from a few standard practices, this process isn't a one size fits all.

People have done the same thing and ended up with different results. Just saying.
Well that is why i advised in the end that everyone should do what pleases them with their application and to always get first hand information from IRCC directly because i've come to realize that most often than not people dont tell the whole truth about what they did or didnt do with their application.

NOTE- CIC specifically states that we should submit ECA http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-how.asp

going by this if someone stays for instance in the US for for 7 months and didn't upload a PCC...how will they know you need to upload one if u don't scan visas and stamps for them to scrutinize.
You will need to state your travel history and if US is one of the countries you have been to, they can easily find out because they share data for immigration purposes.

sad When it was sweeting us to travel upandan. Now I am breaking my head for PCC from different annoying places. Thanks everyone.
To be on the safe side, I will upload the data page and visas/stamped pages for current passport. Then visa pages and stamped pages only for older passports.
Better to overdo than to do too little.
I think its best for you to call them and get first hand information.

i was told that all that is required from you is your current passport. There is no where in your application you are required to prove your travel history. You are only required to state it. For those that have gotten adr for travel history, they were only asked to fill a form but people decide to go a step further to add stamps and markings of their old passport. One cant say for sure why adr for travel history is sent, sometimes even people that upload stamps and markings of old passports have received adr for travel history.
I know atleast 3 people who did not include stamps and markings of their old passport and were not penalized for it (not that im saying you will be penalized for including it) 2 of them have ppr and one has landed canada. Infact there are people who's stamps and markings are not readable at all, what then do they do? undecided

Moral of the story;

1. Make your application as simple and as straight forward as possible
2. Stick to only the documents that you are required to submit
3. Add LOE and SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS only if its absolutely necessary. For instance, if you cant get some of your documents in CIC format or there are discrepancies in some of your documents and so on.
4. Dont prove what you are not asked to prove. It will only prolong the time spent on your application by the VO because im sure the VOs are under the obligation to assess and verify every single document provided by an applicant irrespective of the fact that they are unnecessary. If you ask me, i'll say my sister abeg dont give your VO too much workload, make it easy for him/her grin
5. Well in the end its your application oh!!! Do what pleases you with it. LOL!!! wink
6. Call, tweet or email IRCC and often as you can to clarify grey areas before you submit, there is nothing better than first hand information. They have an obligation to answer your questions when you call, they wont hang up or insult you even if you ask an annoying question (na the work wey them dey do)

My point really is that WES' assessment of 'Bachelor of Law' degree is acceptable to CIC to claim professional degree, I pasted the results earlier as copied from CIC website. IF (I am not sure) WES writes the Bachelor of Law on the ECA, then one is good to go.

Eventually I guess we all do what gives us comfort..ergo IQAS and their ever changing timeline.
The issue with WES is that they dont even state its equivalent to a canadian bachelor of law degree. They just state that its equivalent to 4yrs bachelors in canada. So if a "by the book" VO is handling your application and your WES ECA is saying something entirely different from the Professional degree option you pick, it may raise doubts in his/her mind. But if you are comfortable with that then feel free to use WES, you never know the VO may get it. I just feel that with IQAS its more straight forward and there is no room for confusion.

Exactly, also remember that when you eventually immigrate and commence your licensing process, you will need this assessment as well as assessment of your Law School transcript before you are allowed to write any bar exams and do the articling that is required for you to practice there.
Hmmm, its not that straight for foreign trained lawyers oh. Its another body entirely, THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE of ACCREDITATION (NCA) that will assess our transcript and this assessment is a subject by subject assessment to ensure that you have taken and passed some prerequisite courses. If they are satisfied, they will issue you a CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATION which will enable you enroll and write your BAR EXAM. If they are not satisfied that you have met all the requirements (which is almost always), they will recommend that you write NCA Exams and specifically list the subjects you are expected to take and pass (i've heard that they usually recommend up to 6 courses in some cases even 10 huh) or they may recommend you take some canadian law school courses and worst case scenario send you back to start law school afresh cry cry The assessment cost about $400 or so and it takes about 8weeks to complete the assessment.
The hurdles that foreign trained lawyers have jump is plenty but we shall overcome!

Anyway, read all about NCA here http://flsc.ca/national-committee-on-accreditation-nca/applying-to-the-nca/ and here too https://llm-guide.com/board/canada/practicing-in-canada-60834

So for the Lawyers that intend to use IQAS because of how they assess LL.B degree as 'Professional Degree', please note that according to CIC, any ECA assessment with the underlisted results will be accepted as a Professional Degree.

Law

Bachelor of Laws
Juris Doctor
First professional university degree in law
First professional university degree in law, preceded by [x years] prerequisite undergraduate study

The implication of this is that WES' assessment as Bachelor of Law is sufficient to claim a 'Professional Degree needed to practice in a licensed profession'. You do not have to be stuck with IQAS like some of us, except of course you want to avoid the whole verification brouhaha with your school.

You can read further here - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp just click on the 'Professional Degree needed to practice in a licensed profession'.

I will like to know if anybody has a different experience from the above. You will think that being 'overwhelmed' means these organizations are getting more money and as such should hire more people to deal with the plethora of requests they are getting. I tire walahi.

Regards.
Hi gorgebaby, the problem with WES is that they clearly state that our Nigerian Law Degree is equivalent to 4 years Bachelors degree and not a first professional degree in canada. undecided which is very annoying.

IQAS in my opinion is the best option for the lawyers in the house. They expressly state that our law degree is equivalent to a first professional degree. (IELTS TFN in action) You'll just have to patiently and prayerfully wait for 9 - 10weeks .
