i agree there are bad eggs in every security apparatus, its not peculiar to Nigeria alone, but its because of the sweat of the police men and military that you can afford to spew this thrash from the comfort of your bedroom. Besides, does it now mean whoever puts on camouflage is now a military personnel?

I think that the burden of the responsibility would be on anyone acting in loco parentis (in parental position). If they did it while at home, their parents would have been the ones to hold responsible. But, now that they did it while at a boarding school, the school managers are to be held responsible.

A case in point relates to the minor involved in the recent school shooting in Michigan, USA. His parents have been arrested because he came to school from his home with the gun on the day of the shooting.

If you must know, I am a father of 3 boys and a fostered girl; an 18yr old in the university, a 14 yr old girl in high school, a 10 year old in high school and 5 yr old in primary school.
I dont even live with them but the first time my first boy started having taughts about girls I knew about it, the first time my second boy watched porn on his phone I knew, the first time the 5 yr old lied to his mum to get a favour i knew.

I disciplined, gave counseling, changed rules and kept monitoring them to prevent future occurances.
No child I gave birth or under my care will ever turn out to become evil or a menace to society..I say this with 100% certainty.

you admitted you dont live with them, so obviously someone else is doing the parenting and giving you feedback. Look i honestly do not like to join issues with anyone, but one mistake of sending your kids to live in a bad neighborhood or school where they can be influenced by their peers can do a lot of harm to your kids. The days are gone where you could beat your chest and vouch for another person with total conviction and certainty. I haven't even talked about social media influence. Some kids are known to be good while at home but display negative traits outside with peers. Just do the best you can and try to be there for your kids, but only God can tell who is good or a bad person

Most of them are products of boarding school, you can see the frustration from their comment.
Why will you give birth to a child and allow the society train it for you? The crimes committed in boarding schools are on the rise, negligence on the part of the parents and the school management.
Parents go dey form busy, now you can end up with broken ward or probably a dead one...

look, boarding and day schools have their respective pros and cons. The idea of sending kids to boarding houses in those days were borne out of wanting the kid to be independent minded, confident as well as have the ability to mingle among his/her peers. Explains why most of our present day leaders and successful business men are mostly products of boarding houses. However, present day societal ills have put a strain on boarding houses. You cannot compare unity schools of the 90s to what we have now. Its such a shame, but a total overhaul should be carried out on our public schools both day and boarding, because most of these so called expensive schools are just there to exploit parents and make profit.
