Like for example, I wouldn’t imagine that APC supporters will turn against education, medical science and research because tinubu told them to. But if they are capable of that, then all hope is truly lost for Nigeria seeing as we’re not in a position to be going backwards even further. I’ll have to take you and Amazon’s word for it. AmazonTopaz: Lol, I would love to know your reasons because many of the Yoruba APC supporters for instance are ethno-nationalists like MAGA. They are both Ronu. Sycophants, bigots, prejudicial, you name it. Oh really? Perhaps I’ve misjudged them more leniently than I should have. But there’s always that added layer of racism, misogynoir and religious bigotry which I feel maga has over APC supporters that makes them worse. Then add the fact that they should know better. For people who live in a first world country enjoying the benefits of working institutions (for the most part) and freedoms only to turn around and let themselves be bamboozled into this because of ignorance. Who knows what other terrible decisions they’d make if they were in Nigerian citizens’ position? |

It’s not about supporting or not supporting what the constitution allows. It’s more about how you guys are willing to be swayed in what you think is okay as long Trump is the one doing it. So are we making it up or is he playing us like a fiddle? Because it can’t be both and you guys have used both defenses. They are mutually exclusive. Either we’re lying and he never said such or he said it and you think it’s all a ruse. Either way not a good look for a president that his words can’t be taken at face value. He might not be able to change the constitution but he sure as heck would be willing to bypass it. As he has shown repeatedly. That should be concerning for anyone who truly thinks the constitution should be the guide. raumdeuter: Trump wont be the one to change the constitution, he doesnt have the powers, it would have to be your Congressmen and Senators. If they do it then it becomes law and you have to live with it
Why wont you support a 3rd term or a 7th term if the constitution allows it? What I want personally is different from what the constitution allows, If the constitution allows a 7th term then why not? There are countries where their leaders are not term bound In this America Senators can do 100 terms whether you like it or not is irrelevant, the constitution allows them and some are doing it
If there is a way the constitution can be changed going through the right channels which will mean Both Democrats and Republicans agree to it, plus 60% of all states, then it becomes law
Will you now be against what the law says?
It is currently not possible and if will become possible then the bulk of the elected officials will have to agree to it |

raumdeuter: Trump has been playing you like a fiddle when you start throwing fits about anything and everything I love when Trump says stuff that’s certifiably bonkers you reduce it to him playing a tactic or strategy. Ugh 😑 To rule for more than 2 terms you need a constitutional amendment which I don't think can be done, If this can get done and get Trump a 3rd or 7th term then so be it, If the proper method of amendment is followed Then you also turn around and say well if he does it, then so be it. As if you would ever have the same energy if a democratic president ever attempted this whether by the “proper method” or not. I can say with my chest that no matter how well a democrat leads, I wouldn’t support them for a 3rd or 7th term because that would be the death of the US. But you’re okay as long as someone from your party does it. That’s the summary of everything we’ve been going back and forth about on this thread. |

Why do they only realize how stupid it is when someone else plays it back to them? IjeBos: Calling a woman emotional. Impressive. You're such a very clever and witty person. Who would have that being sexist and reducing her arguments that way would make you sound not like an insecure man. Cue his “you’re playing the victim” response in 3..2..1 That one only has like maybe 5 template responses he can apply to any and every conversation. 5 is even generous. He doesn’t know anything except to minimize conversations above his room temperature IQ as emotional, or call the respondent a victim for pointing out his childish sexism, or gaslight by telling you what you’re seeing is a lie. Actually I think he might be limited to these 3 templates. Outside of that, his brain starts to short circuit. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by cococandy(f): 6:03pm On Mar 31, 2025 |
PDPGuy: You now see why unbridled sycophancy is terrible! Popular presidents like Clinton, Obama and Reagan never mused about a 3rd term, even though they would have handily won the additional term, because they (and others) believed that no one has a monopoly of leadership.
There is a reason why term limits were introduced after the 12-yr presidency of FDR; one of them being that the U.S. shouldn’t have a cult-like presidency The reason why this season in American politics is so different is that whether republican or democrat, most politicians always recognized that there’s such a thing as too much, too far, too extreme. Not Trump. He doesn’t have a mental stop button that tells him when to stop. (Except the threat of personal financial ruin). Most presidents stuck to the unspoken code of honor. Now that Trump is showing how easy it is to dismantle American democracy, we’re learning that a lot of the rules of law we enjoyed were available to us because prior leaders chose to respect it not because there’s a serious infrastructure in place to actually enforce it if push came to shove. It reminds me of the local farmers in my neighborhood who leave eggs and flowers for you to pick and pay based on honor. No one is there to watch you or judge you but everyone understands that the honorable thing to do is to pay for what you take. Trump is that guy who’ll take everything and walk away because who’s going to check him? Right? I think Biden tried when he was leaving by telling the military to remember the oath they took to protect the Constitution. And he also appointed a good number of judges before he left. All those useless executive orders he’s been trying to use to take over our democracy have been slowed down thanks to the foresight of Biden. That’s why you see them floating the idea of removing judges and trying to pass a bill to disempower congress. Dark days ahead if more politicians don’t stand up and stop him. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by cococandy(f): 5:50pm On Mar 31, 2025 |
He’s replacing military leaders who have years of experience and dedication to the constitution with sycophants who won’t say no to him. I wouldn’t hold my breath that he won’t attempt this. ObaIgwe1: Honestly I see all you are seeing and I know how desperate and mad Trump can be. I just don't know why a part of me still believe he won't be that mad; because that will be a call for anarchy and civil war as never seen before. Far too many Americans own guns and even the military will be divided between those whose allegiance is to the constitution and those whose allegiance is to the Commander in Chief. So because of the ugliness I see with it's happening, I just want to pray and believe it wont happen, if it does; the USA will definitely not be the same again. |

I think he means to address beme.ruca and basil but he can’t call them out without roping in raum who “he respects”. They all basically share the same opinion as far as Trump’s presidency is concerned, so can’t be separated from each other. That’s why he’s tiptoeing around the recipients of his post. And of course he has to throw in the caveat of “I think Kamala would’ve been worse”, so that those ones don’t turn on him as someone who’s defected to the liberal side. I can’t imagine the stress he’s feeling trying to stand up for what he knows is ultimately right but so gosh darn afraid of losing social capital with them. Anyway for the first time in his grandiose postings, I find myself agreeing with a lot of what he said. Hopefully he won’t care about what anyone thinks while he’s voicing his truth. I know I don’t. I speak my mind. If we make kiss and make up in the future, splendid. If not, no wahala too. IjeBos: It was a very reasonable comment about things that I think are very weighty and it could have lead to a reasonable discussion without abusive words between them. And with what is going on in the US, people having the strength to have these conversations and call these stuff out is really needed right now.
I read the discussion you and someone else had about education in the North. Someone slightly disagreed with a comment you made, you saw his perspective and offered to clarify, he ultimately saw what you were saying. No abusive words And, in the process, I learned some things about education in the North. |

nateevs: @PDPGuy
You see this? Clowns like this guy are already preparing "constitutional legitimacy" for Trump, at least from the point of view of the electorate. 'Because he believes he was robbed in the 2020 election'
And so it begins. America as you know it is over. They can believe 2020 election was stolen because their guy didn’t win but when him and his billionaire crony admit to rigging this past election, they turn a blind eye. Not a word. Even he does not believe he’s liked enough to win all swing states. Even him and his followers know they are delusional about that. Democrats of course always taking the high road won’t say anything because they want irrefutable proof. Honestly I’m inclined to believe they rigged 2020 as well but were extremely shocked when it didn’t go their way that’s why they’ve been griping about it ever since. That’s why he felt emboldened to ask officials to find him 11 thousand votes. As if votes just come out of the air. |

E reach to ask. How exactly would she have been worse? We could’ve had a good life. A peaceful existence. Her economic policies had award winning economists excited for our future These people want us to believe we’re the emotional ones for caring too much. Yet there was no ounce of logic applied in voting for Trump. It was all negative emotions fueled by isms. Whatever did she do so wrong? She laughed so much?. Plus all the other unfounded propaganda against her. Meanwhile Trump had already shown who he was the first time around. All he did was ruin everything but they never paid attention because he put his name on the pandemic checks that congress gave to Americans. They chose this for us. Unforgivable! And in the realization of how wrong they were, they still want to drag democrats into the blame. Lack of accountability on their part is terrible IjeBos: This post. You don't seem to mention who you are talking to.. I think everyone understands why. But let me help you call them out by name.. Bemeruca, Basilico, Raumdeuter...
You write this as if anyone who watched the election didn't know Trump was going to do this stuff. Or did you miss all the "Democracy is on the Line" ads. Or Trump saying he wanted to be "dictator for a day".. I guess he extended it. Or did you not read Project 2025? Or do you not fundamentally understand who the Republicans are as a party or what they stand for esp. under MAGA? Here's a hint all the Wars the US fought the last 50 years, who started them?
You supported a fox guarding the hen house and are now complaining that the fox is eating the hens.
And you still can't admit you were wrong because you still say Kamala would have been worse. What is worse than crashing the economy, trying to start wars with neighbors like Canada and Greenland, erasing minorities from history, disappearing people to prison camps for tattoos, trying to destroy the Court system, threatening Law Firms, pardoning violent people and convicted crooks because they are cronies, kowtowing to Russia while destroying our relationships with allies, setting the US back decades by cutting funding for Science and Research and letting Netanyahu pillage the Middle East? Oh yeah, what was worse is that Kamala was a woman. There is a reason the economy does better under Democrats. They are competent and believe in expertise.
You should take your own advice and vet the stories you guzzle in. |

But don’t worry guys. He will find another sick black baby to parade as evidence of his “non-racism” while actively trying to erase black history. On Thursday, Donald Trump signed an executive order targeting the Smithsonian Institution, a behemoth of a research and museum organization that operates more than 20 museum and research centers and is visited by millions of people each year, mainly in Washington DC and New York City. The museums include the National Museum of African Art, the National Portrait Gallery, the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), which Trump name-checked in his executive order. Trump’s executive order instructs JD Vance to “eliminate improper, divisive or anti-American ideology” from the Smithsonian’s museums.
The Smithsonian has already come under scrutiny by Trump and his allies. Earlier this year, the institution was forced to close its diversity office and froze all federal hiring.

I would agree with all of this. All of it. except where Kamala would’ve been worse. Now you know you’re just saying that to mask your disappointment in yourself that you let your isms make you choose the other candidate. There was no objectivity applied in the decision to support Trump. Live with your disappointment and don’t drag her into this. Trump was supposed to be pro-peace all through. Nobody voted for Satanyahu's wars. Nobody voted lawfaring or deporting people who don't kow-tow to Israel.
Trump is making gigantic mistakes that he will end up regretting big time. From his CDC nominations to pretending Pam Bondi cares for anything other than Israel and being on FOX news.
Scamala would have been significantly worse but Trump is shitting the bed.
BTW, Yemen had been bombing Israeli ships not USA ships. JD Vance basically outted it in that Signal fiasco story. The US is fighting a war on behalf of Israel in Yemen rather than mandate them to comply with the ceasefire terms.
You're justifying the indiscriminate killing of women, children, journalists, Healthcare worker's. Something that both Biden and Trump now have in common. |

This phenomenon will be the death of America. Everyone is an expert on everything and will go toe to toe with people who have PhDs in their various fields just so they can hear their own voice. Not specifically referring to this thread with this post (because I don’t want anyone to think of it as shade) But truly and surely the days of respecting experts are gone. Over. If Trump tells them it’s bad, then it’s bad. it doesn’t matter what that groups of professionals who have decades of experience in said field think. The brain drain about to hit us will be epic in proportions. For example, several renowned economists wrote articles in support of Kamala’s economic policies, stating how Trump’s tariffs will risk putting us in a recession. But Trump told them it’s not true and they believed him.
