bemeruca: They are fighting abortion and infanticide from the likes of you. These are real women. Their children are motherless now. Their husbands are widowed and their parents have buried their adult children. Think well before you jump on culture wars. Like I often tell you guys, for some of you on this site, it’s just talk and debate so you don’t care because it doesn’t affect you. For others, it’s their literal lives on the line.

nateevs: Absolutely. This is why I seriously detest religious fanatics of any kind. It's doctrine before reason. The sad truth about this nonsense is that a lot of women are going to die.
The reality is that some of those women would include the wives, sisters, cousins and daughters of these lunatics who never stop one moment to think. We are already dying. I got banned by spambot for sharing links couple days ago but these are easily verifiable cases that made the news. Real people with real faces whose family members opened up and talked about what happened to them. So it’s not propaganda As a mom of daughters, I don’t know what to tell anyone who can’t understand why this is a priority to me rather than trans people in sports or bathrooms. Not dismissing their concerns but priorities pls. I’m glad I live in a blue state. But how long before their madness reaches here since they’re keen on enforcing it nationwide? Today should be Nevaeh Crain’s 20th birthday. Yet, because of Texas’ cruel abortion ban, today, her mother is forced to mourn her loss, rather than celebrate her birthday alongside her. Nevaeh died because emergency room doctors in three separate hospitals feared legal retribution from anti-abortion extremists and lost precious hours debating how to treat Nevaeh. Candi Miller, Amber Thurman, Josseli Barnica, and now, Nevaeh Crain. These are just some of the first people we know of who have lost their lives because of extreme and dangerous abortion bans that denied them essential, emergency care.
There was a chance that Nevaeh’s pregnancy could have been saved, and with the correct care, her life would have been spared. It is clear that as long as these dangerous bans on access to reproductive care are in place, pregnancy and miscarriage will be a potential death sentence in the dozens of states with abortion restrictions.
Abortion restrictions and bans do not stop the need for this essential health care; they just make it more difficult to access by forcing patients and providers into impossible situations. No one should be afraid to access medical care, and no health care provider should fear prosecution for giving the best standard of care. |

nateevs: That's needlessly disrespectful. Your support for Trump does not mean you lose all consciousness of decorum. What the phuck is wrong with you guys?
Do you think married women don't have a need for abortion also? Are you that native? Do you mean they should close their legs too?
How do you encourage family planning even in healthy families when there's an ultra right wing trying to ban contraceptives?
Do you guys just completely disengage brain? Thank you. Not only do married people have a need for abortion, women who wanted their pregnancies but unfortunately suffered miscarriages are becoming afraid to go get emergency help. They are afraid someone will accuse them of “killing their babies”. They don’t think of those that’ll let fear hold them in the house for too long until they get septic before they seek help. Republicans are good at introducing bills and executive orders that they don’t think through and they have to end up walking it back when people start to get harmed. |

Neddstark: This mans family has been destroyed as the secret he has been hiding for decades has finally come to light. But exposing him like this is very unfair. The police interrogating him on canera and releasing it to the public is the height if unprofessionalism. This could have been settled behind closed doors but now, the man's life, that of his wife and that of his children will never be the same again. For the record there are thousands of homosexual men in Nigeria. Even many top guys in government are into it. I despise homosexuality with everything. But this could have been done better. What is more important to you? Preserving his honor or him getting maximum consequences for raping a child? 😒 |

Texas maternal mortality committee that reviews maternal deaths related to pregnancy were ordered to stop reviewing those deaths for two years after their total abortion bans. Yay for women I guess. This was after doctors started sounding alarm on how Women were dying from sepsis and other related illnesses directly linked to the total abortion bans. Anyone who cares about women should be concerned by this. And actually you can care about both trans people in sports or advertising pads and still recognize which issue has higher priority. If we let these people keep going, in no time, America will be like northern Nigeria. That’s their ultimate goal These are the very kinds of cases state maternal mortality review committees are supposed to delve into, determining why they happened and how to stop them from happening again.
But panels in states that have recently imposed strict bans on abortion have done little to uncover whether the laws are contributing to maternal deaths, including tracking delays in care for pregnancy complications and making these problems known, a ProPublica investigation shows.
In fact, we found that in a few states, political leaders who backed the bans have stood in the way of measuring their consequences.
They have dismissed committees, slowing down their work. They have weeded out members openly critical of abortion bans and supportive of transparency.
Texas has gone as far as to legally prohibit its committee from reviewing deaths that are considered abortion-related. This could include some miscarriage care, health officials told ProPublica.
In two deaths of Texas women that ProPublica investigated, Porsha Ngumezi and Josseli Barnica had already miscarried when they were given misoprostol to help complete the process. The committee does not review cases that involve that drug because it’s also used for abortions, said committee chair Dr. Carla Ortique: “If they received medication, if they received any procedure, we will not get those records.” Chris Van Deusen, the spokesperson at the Texas Department of State Health Services, would not say whether Ngumezi’s and Barnica’s deaths would be reviewed. |

You support the party that banned abortions and blocked bills that gives women national access to birth control Let me ask you a question. That’s if you can collect your brain to respond. In a state where the Republicans have successfully removed access to birth control, what is the solution you’re offering a woman who finds herself the victim of sexual assault but can’t prevent pregnancy because birth control is banned.? I want a logical answer. Not the “you’re crazy” deflection you’re doing.

descarado: Don't mind cococandy. Everything trump is doing is all bad to her standard.
Even if he flood America with illegals, she will still complain. Obama deported the highest number of illegals in America and we did not hear that at all. Trump has not even reached half of what Obama did and it has been total outrage.
Now, it's bad that he stopped men from engaging in all female sports.
Kilode. I never said that was bad. Pls don’t put words in my mouth. I’m saying we should have never let their party be in power because it will lead to a devastating loss to everyone involved. Trans people getting out of sports is not worth the trade off we’re getting in return. Your son being able to wear masculine colors (which no one took his right to do that away) is quite low on the totem pole of my daughter having to sit on her hands and hope she doesn’t get pregnant if she’s sexually assaulted. The priorities here seem clear to me but you’re right. Everyone has what they consider important. |

Yes my rights, freedoms and desire to not live in a sharia society is more important to me than people’s annoyance at seeing trans people 🤷🏽♀️ descarado: Everybody knows what is mostly important to him or her. My most concern is teaching my boys that they can wear pink in school and that it's normal.
It is the most important thing for me and most people who voted for Trump.
It is also very important world over as majority of the world look up to America. A man should and must never advertise woman pad nor join in all female sport. I don't subscribe to that madness. |

descarado: Cococandy, whether it's democrats or republican, it should have never ever surfaced in the first place. Even if the president is Biden and ended it, I will still praise him. That was a joke taken too far. Regardless of whatever this administration wants to do about trans people, after everything is said and done, the net benefit to American women remains the same. It was never out of concern to women. And I need us to understand that. Yes maybe a random trans person who’s popular in sports will step down. Or they’ll get their own trans category idk. At the end of the day, the effect on the average woman is net zero. However we’re celebrating them while they are actively removing the words female and woman from research funding? Studies on the health of women on pause because this administration doesn’t want to fund dei studies and of course women are “inherently lesser” in nature thus we must be DEI. There’s so much more important stuff at stake and things like trans people advertising pads is stuff you care about when your literal life is not at risk. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: 2026 Midterm Elections Live! by cococandy(f): 6:35pm On Feb 06, 2025 |
But if the republicans have their way and pass the bills they want. Anyone even a 13 year old who gets sexually assaulted will be put to death if she gets an abortion. And before you say they can go to hospital and get care before it results in pregnancy, the republicans are also pushing for a ban on contraception. So women really have no defenses or ways of saying this is what they want for themselves or not. Yay. Win for women. We have bigger problems in America and men in women’s bathrooms or sports is the least of them. Because the way you’re sounding, if you had the ability to vote, you would vote to have my right and my daughters’ rights to bodily autonomy taken away. All because you can’t see the forest for the trees. A doctor just got criminally indicted for providing abortion to a teenager. We heard nothing about who’s responsible for the pregnancy but the focus is on the child and whoever helped her get her life back. You might think feminists need to focus on trans people as a priority but that’s short sightedness. By the time we’re done dancing to the culture wars of trans people in public places. We won’t even have the right to vote. Meanwhile your LGBTQ people in UK have more rights than the ones in America. You could focus that energy on them. Women in Afghanistan were free until fairly recently. And it all happened because people let extremists take over. descarado: Congratulations to that milestone.
Feminism should be fighting for women right not killing and squashing it.
A man in all female sports because of wokeism. A man advertising pad because he thinks he is a woman and dresses so. And women instead of fighting this are proudly supporting it We have forgotten the core values of feminism. Woke feminism is delusional. So happy with this.
The world should take note

IjeBos: The distrust he's building is going to take a long time to repair. And in this new multipolar world, we may not ever repair it.
People fall back on jingoisms and don't think through the policy implications. People are aghast that the US is giving out HIV treatments to developing countries through things like USAID but don't think about the multiplier effect of that money in perceptions of the US in those places and thus on US policy, regional or business interests. Before he won and started to further his nonsense behaviors from his first term, I said a Trump win will take America a generation to recover from. And they called me a fear monger. Look at Germany today. With every step they’re taking to address their past (including paying reparations), they still haven’t recovered from it. It’s a stain on their name and it’s been at least two-three generations since it happened. I really can’t stand people who don’t have any pattern recognition abilities.
